Patch 1.2 SWTOR

Your old PvP commendations and 1.2

Hey everyone, your old Champion/Battlemaster/Centurion are no longer being used in patch 1.2. They do not disappear, you just can’t use them to purchase armor anymore (they are no longer obtainable either). So the question is – what are they being used for now?

March 27: As of march 27 PTS patch, the exchange change between Warzone and Mercenary Commendations is now 10 Mercenary Commendations for 10 Warzone commendations. (Previously it was 30 Mercenary Commendations for 10 Warzone Commendations)

March 29: As of March 29 PTS march, Ranked Warzone Commendations can no longer be exchanged for normal Warzone Commendations (i.e. you can’t skip unranked warzones now in your PvP gear progresssion)

March 29: New expertise Crystals added to the PvP items vendor, price for Longspur Recon changed to 1500 Warzone Commendations

  • Centurion PvP gear is no longer sold by vendors.
  • Champion PvP gear is no longer sold. Instead, vendors now sell a set called Recruit which is blue quality with a rating of 126 (essentially Champion armor downgraded in stats but has more expertise). These pieces no longer have any moddable slots and can be purchased from vendors for credits. Your existing Champion pieces will remain the same (fully moddable, including the armoring)and not changed to Recruit.
  • Warzone commendations now caps at 2000 and is used to purchased the Battlemaster gear, which no longer have a valor requirement. You can still purchase the Mercenary Commendations at a rate of 10 Mercenary Commendations per 10 Warzone Commendations but they no longer have any use in directly purchasing PvP armor.
  • The new tier of PvP Armor – War Hero – is purchased via Ranked Warzone Commendations, which are obtained via playing warzones.

So the question you are probably wondering, what are your Champion/Centurion/Battlemaster commendations now used for?

There are now two PvP vendors near the PvP Terminal, the vendor for PvP items is the guy/gal you are looking for. He/she will exchange your old PvP commendations items. The exchange rate are as follows.

I too want to know what happens to the champ gear we have. Will it all be converted to the recruit gear? Or do we keep the champ gear we have? Also if we do keep it, will the stats be readjusted like BM gear?

In that case, I was thinking of ripping out the mods and using it in another set, or would the ripped out mods get readjusted aswell ?

Hey found the information for you – existing champion gear will get carried over! Here is a friend of my standing next to the PTR war hero vendor with a screenshot of champion gear that got carrier over in his inventory

Ear 625
Implant 625
Relic 550
Head 1075
Chest 1000
Bracers 550
Belts 625
Legs 1000
Boots 900
Offhand 1150
Weapon 1750

BM pieces will cost roughly around 1k WZ commendations each (bracer belt less afaik).

The whole expertise thing will be revamped, the BM set will be around 1k expertise in total. That will give 20% dmg and heal boost in pvp and 17% dmg reduction if I remember right from PTS.

There won’t be too big difference in expertise between sets, the full champion (including implants, weap, offhand, ear, relics, so FULL champion) will have around 900 expertise rating.

My only big concern will be after this goes live that other than some useless legacy unlocking requirements (at 10 & 20 valor) what use Valor rating will have? Because it seems none.

Yes, you can buy 1 speeder at valor 50, but that’s it….   or someone knows better and would like to correct me in the matter?

So just to clarify, can you convert Mercenary Tokens to something useful for the next patch?

I have around 900 of them at present, and it looks like they will become useless?

You can still convert mercs back to warzone coms, but as you know that is a major loss. Or you can save 750 and get the speeder lol.

Yes but the exchange is one way. You can convert ranked to normal wz commendations but not the other way around.

Can’t find anything about this, anyone know what the yield range is on the Standard and Heavy Small Credit Boxes?  Been a long time since I’ve opened either.

I guess it could ya, before you get your Columi set. There is no more lockout for hardmode flashpoints so you can farm it as many times as you need 🙂

Thanks for great post!

Any idea what will happen with current daily commendations? Are they gonna add new rewards or commendations with new daily quests?

Did you even read the patch notes, before misleading players?
“The Valor Rank requirement has been removed from Battlemaster earpieces and implants.”

He is right, there is no val requirement on the BM gear other than the implants and earpiece. The requirement was on the bags to open them – hence the removal from those 3 pieces….

You do know there was never a valor requirement to wear BM armor, only the earpiece and implants had valor requirement.

i believe u retain what u have now so no they dont downgrade. The blue applies only to new ones u purchase after 1.2

What about the Warzone Commendations that we have now?
Can I use them to buy the T3 (Battlemaster) PVP Armor when 1.2 is live?
If this is the truth I would save 1000 Warzone Commendations and 1000 Mercenary Commendations and would have 4000 Warzone Commendations for shopping when 1.2 is live!?
Greetings from Germany

Hi dulfy! Quick Q: Is the Merc -> WZ commendations purchase no longer available? I really don’t want WZ Medpacs with my 1k Merc commendations, come 1.2.

I am a bit confused with what is going on

I am currently at valor 54, with some champion pieces. If i understand correctly, after 1.2 goes live, i will be able to buy *all* champion pieces for credits

Provided that i understood this correctly, what is my incentive today to continue PvPing? Why would i want today to raise either my valor rank (which will become purely cosmetic) or complete the daily/weekly (for bags)? I can just ignore PvP till 1.2 is out, and then go buy all champion gear using credits

Am i missing something here?

Well valor maybe redundant in 1.2 and all your BM gears will no longer have a valor requirement and can be purchased directly with WZ commendation, it is still a good idea to get BM gear now.

The reason being, if you stock up on BM stuff now, once 1.2 goes live, your expertise will increase by quite abit on all BM gears assuming you don’t swap out the mods. This means that you will be in the best shape for ranked warzones. Other people who are going via the new champion gear will not have as good stats you and will die alot.

Hi Dulfy

thx for the info.

how useful are the pvp crafting boxes?
i have loads of champ tokens. should i use them now to kit out my alts or save them to trade in for the crafting boxes after 1.2 hits?

“Champion PvP gear has being downgraded to blue quality (to 126) and
renamed to Recruit XXX where XXX is the name of the armor piece” => this is different from what you said in your more recent post where champion is better than recruit when it comes to the stats, but lower when it comes to expertise

Hmm it is same as what I said in that article. Champion is no longer being sold and replaced by a set called Recruit, which is essentially Champion set downgraded in stats but with more expertise. Maybe I should make it clear than your existing Champion gear is not downgraded, rather the vendor is selling a downgraded version of Champion.

Do you happen to know how many credits are in those heavy small and standard small boxes? i got about 600 of each token and 10 bm tokens saved up wanna see if ima be ritch 🙂

Yes, someone was asking for this on Reddit the other day so I tested it for them. Its around 600 credits for heavy credit box (from champion commendations) and around 400 credits for the standard credit box (from centurion commendations). Its a pretty bad exchange I would say :p Roughly 600-700k in total for all your champion/centurion tokens

🙁 guess ill get a bunch of crafting boxes and see if i get lucky with a rare schematic or something. thanks for the info your the best!

Hey dulfy thanks for all the very usefu info. Was just wondering if you know if the Grade 6 crafting boxes that you can buy with pvp comms drop random crafting materials eg. If I am an artificer and I buy one am I likely to get scavenging materials or something else that won’t be of too much use to me besides selling it?

Hey, I opened one (only had enough comms to buy one) and I am biochem. I got a biochem mat (22 mutagenic paste) so I dunno if I just got lucky or they are crew skill specific.

the Medpacs are stupidly overpriced.  I wont even buy them currently (1 for 10 points)  as i think its a total rip.

If it was 20 tokens for 5 Medpacs it would be great.

A question…does anyone know if you get ranked warzone comms in unranked pvp matches? I thought I heard you get some…but a lot less than in ranked wzs…
Ty for answer…

I know I’m a little late to the party on this, but am I seeing correctly that the Black-Red and Black-Blue lightsaber crystals are now available to anyone for 2k WZ comms and 150k credits? I was kinda hoping they’d keep a valor 60 req on those so pre-1.2 Battlemasters at least had something cosmetic to make them stand out.

I just checked on the PTS, only Black-Orange and Black-Purple have requirements (PvP rating), the just don’t.

That is fantastic! always wanted to have red-black with blue-black as a marauder 😀
Thanks for the info <3

Seems like I should keep all my Merc. Comms and wait for 1.2 so I get an even trade as opposed to a 3-1 trade…am I reading that right?

I have been saving for months to get a pile of BM tokens now i find out theres nothing for me to spend them on anymore….im very angry….account canceling angry….
