GW2 dungeon and cultural armor/weapon gallery

Hey everyone, as many of you probably already know, BWE3 of GW2 brought in the much requested armor preview feature. This allows you to right click on any armor/weapon on a vendor or in your inventory to see how they look like when equipped. Being a fashion fanatic myself, I decided to compile a gallery of all the dungeon and cultural armors and weapons you can find in GW2 pre-release.

Dungeon armors are purchased with tokens earned in the Exploration mode of each dungeon at the vendors in Lion’s Arch (not far from the WvW Asura gates). Cultural armors are purchased from vendors in each race’s home city and have racial restrictions (i.e. only humans can wear human cultural armor). These vendors are near the Asura gates as well.

Weapons

The name of the weapon specify which vendor it was purchased from. Weapons in this gallery come in two flavors

1) Dungeon weapons purchased from the appropriate dungeon vendors in Lion’s Arch next to the WvW Asura gates with tokens earned from exploration mode of these dungeons.

2) Cultural weapons – these come in three tiers (identical graphics) and can be purchased directly via karma. Tier 1 requires L40 and 9800 karma, tier 2 requires L60 and 35k karma and tier 3 requires L80 and 63k karma. Vendors are located in the home city of each race, usually next to the Asura portals from Lion’s Arch unless otherwise indicated. Unlike armors, these are not race specific (not sure if intended). Note: it appears currently that the Norn, Sylvari, and Charr weapons only come in Tier 3 atm (might be fixed before release).

Great work as usual, unfortunately every time i see more from GW2 (including the beta), I get turned off further.

Can’t honestly believe some still think that this kind of antiquated engine and honestly sad graphics can still fly in 2012…

This is using the preview window though, which means that it is a bit more lower res than it is actually in-game. If you crank up the settings in-game and actually the equip the armor on you, they loook much much better 😀

I know, but I’ve seen the game itself on my screen, and honestly I find the whole production values (graphics, music, voice acting) extremely sub-par. I’d almost go ahead and define them lazy 🙁

Do I smell a troll? Seriously the graphics and artistic design of the game is better than any game I’ve seen. If your computer can handle it throw it into High Settings and just look around. See some of the jump puzzles or go view a vista.

Or maybe you didin’t play many games. My rig can handle high settings, as it can handle max settings in every MMO out there at the moment (including much more demanding ones). Sorry to burst a bubble, but GW2 isn’t nearly up to par visually with the current generation of MMOs made with less antiquated or more updated engines, like Tera, TSW or other upcoming ones like ArcheAge or Blade & Soul. It doesn’t get even near. Textures are low resolution and blurry, models are underdetailed (characters and buildings seriously look like they’re made of cardboard), the use of normal maps is scarce to non-existant, lighting is rudimentary… It shows that it’s the same engine that powered Guild Wars, and that one was already antiquated when GW was released seven years ago.

Again, sorry if this offend your fanboy sensitivity, but there’s a whole world of much better looking MMOs out there, especially now that MMO devs finally understood that using much better optimized and highly updated engines like Unreal and CryEngine isn’t a sin. Recognizing that doesn’t make anyone a “troll”.

You do realize that its configured to your CPU at the moment and even on super high end systems it looks terrible? It also sounds like you didn’t change any of your in-game settings, since you can turn on HD textures for other characters- the norm is to keep other players and model low res to decrease cpu usage. The game chugs on my brand new hardware, so its definitely not optimized. The game is visually stunning and those engines weren’t used because they wanted GW2 to be accessible to people with a variety of hardware components, just like GW1. Of course, if you don’t want to play it, that’s a matter of personal preference, maybe you can look in to getting your money refunded?

Besides, the Unreal and CryEngine look pretty awful unless you have them set to max settings. :/ It really grinds my gears to see people in-game, on forums, or anything else bashing the game- its like why did you even buy it in the first place, why are you playing it, or why are you posting here if you hate it?

gw2 isnt nearly up to par as Tera or TSW, are you nuts ?, in Tera blinns are overused and the lighting is a cranked up to make em shine like a used sports car trying to be sold on the lot, and antiquated engine ? they stripped the old one to nothing and re did it, saying its the same engine is like taking a old motor home, stripping it down to the bare chassis building your own new parts and components and re building it without the original materials, so its really brand freakin new. textures are low res and blurry ? your killing me… i can zoom in as close as i can to a object and can barely see a pixel, models are under-detailed ? you compared this game to Tera, now i’ve played Tera for almost a year with the highest settings and it still doesn’t compare to the detail of gw2. obliviously you haven’t been through the character creation, or seen high res pictures of the best armours, you can choose as much detail as you want… oh and the lighting is the best part it doesn’t stick out like a spray tan, it fits to its environment. Your arguments are very flawed, you just sound like a dwelling Tera fanboy

You need to get better computer- rly i think same as you(i turn on high-but its still was bad..). But then i saw man streaming and… this game looks awsome when ur CPU can REALLY use high. Cause when u set high on low CPU then only this objects that are near are high- ALL OTHER USE 2nd models-Low poly/textures!. SO it is becouse of your computer!!!

That screens are captured on low settings in my opinion. I’ve played all betas and equipment look much better on high settings in game. And graphics arent outdated , the game looks beautiful. Ive played Terra open beta and it was crap MMO… TSW is even worse so Gieseppe Nelva stop trolling man go play Mists of pandaria

Eh, the settings used for these screen shots ARE on low. Most people during the beta don’t realize that the game defaults to low settings, and if you go to change them, and hit the X to close the window, they revert, you have to close with F11. But at your Tera comment, please. Tera is many things, most of which are indeed bad, but 2 things you can’t trash talk are Tera’s Graphics and combat system. Tera’s graphics (not art, i’m talking technologically speaking here) are superior to GW2 by a “small” amount. GW2 is pretty close, but Tera’s graphics are very high end for an MMO. In fact, it’s currently the most advanced MMO in terms of graphics, and probably will be until BnS comes out.

GW2 destroys Tera’s PVE and PVP. GW2 has a LOT to offer, but don’t knock Tera’s graphics, they are great. (If you don’t like the asian art style, that’s your opinion, but the graphics themselves are on a higher level technically than GW2)

actually I did take the screenshots on max settings but the settings don’t affect the preview window so they look really low res. it is the same issue in swtor, the preview window is low res and make the armor look crappy. To see the armor in their full artistic form, you need to have 1) good dye combinations (I couldn’t find one with the starter dyes) and 2) see them in person with max settings, preferably the high res screenshot option if they bring that back

Thanks for all the work Dulfy. I have a question about all the gear’s color. Are all of the previews of equipment based on the colors you chose in the character creation? Or are these the default colors for when you receive the gear? A lot of the men’s gear look cooler, simply because of color.

    Thanks

yes the previews are based on the colors I chose at character creation. The male ones were done after I got complaints about the color combo I was using so i thought about switching to a more blueish to make them look less boring.

Trust me, they will look really good once you get the proper dyes, the starter dyes are kinda meh but there are over 200 dyes so you have alot of options! 😀

Warden looks alot like the weapons and shields the nightmare court uses. (in the sylvari starting area)

I totally agree. I LOVE everythinig about GW2 except the weapon designs. They all look like a bunch of pre-schooler designed the. Who wants a damn squidarm as a sword?! (no not in this list but there is one) They lack balance, realism and any thought on how they go with the armors.

I have tokens from dungeon crawling, and I went to the merchants to look things over, and every single merchant, all of their gear, looks the same (leather) to me. What’s up? Is it not implemented yet or something? I see these great pics of gear I wanted up above here, but yet in game it’s some of the crappiest leather sets available early on in game. Suggestions/tips/help???

hey there, Anet changed this at launch but these models are only for exotic armor (there is another tab on the merchant, the default tab is rare). All of the rare armor have the identical ugly graphic and only exotic armor have the unique model shown here

Thank you very much for these pictures! BUT, as a suggestion, you can take pictures of weapons tier 1 and 2 too (Some people are interested in them because they use trans. stones), so the gallery would be more complete!

Thanks again and keep up the good work!
