Game Update 2.4 PTS Patch Notes

August 16th, 2013

The patch notes published for the Public Test Server are intended to guide testing. They are not final and are subject to change

The new Obroan PvP armor set is currently using placeholder art that will be updated before the release to the Live Servers; the sets themselves are incomplete on the PTS and are subject to change.
The Public Test Server Patch Notes will be provided in English. The final release notes will be provided in English, French, and German when the content is moved to live servers.


Highlights

  • 4v4 Warzone Arenas are now active! These small scale PvP maps are Last Team Standing in the best of 3 Rounds. Details under PvP
  • 8v8 Ranked Warzones have been removed from the Ranked Warzone queue. For more information on this change please see the Arena Blog Post.

Classes and Combat

Jedi Consular

Shadow

  • Phase Walk now only teleports the player when the ability is deactivated manually. All other methods of removing the effect (such as clicking to remove the buff from the effect bar) will simply end the ability without a teleportation.
  • Phase Walk no only goes on cooldown when the character successfully teleports.

Sith Inquisitor

Assassin

  • Phase Walk now only teleports the player when the ability is deactivated manually. All other methods of removing the effect (such as clicking to remove the buff from the effect bar) will simply end the ability without a teleportation.
  • Phase Walk no only goes on cooldown when the character successfully teleports.

Bounty Hunter

General

  • Reduced the cost of Flame Thrower to 24 heat (down from 25) and slightly reduced the damage dealt.

Mercenary

Pyrotech

  • Increased Thermal Detonator explosion damage, but reduced the damage it deals over time.
  • Reduced the cost of Incendiary Missile to 16 heat (down from 22) and slightly reduced the damage it deals.

Powertech

Advanced Prototype

  • Increased the cost of Immolate to 10 heat (up from 8 ) and increased the damage it deals.
  • Slightly reduced the damage done by Retractable Blade.
  • Prototype Cylinder Ventilation has been redesigned: While High Energy Gas Cylinder is active, players will vent 1/2 heat every 1.5 seconds.
  • Prototype Flame Thrower has been redesigned: Flame Burst, Flame Sweep, and Immolate have a 50/100% chance to grant Prototype Flame Thrower, which affects the next Flame Thrower by increasing the damage dealt by 20%, reducing the heat generated by 2, slowing targets by 30%, and making it immune to interrupts. This effect can stack up to 3 times.
  • Prototype Weapon Systems now additionally increases the critical strike damage bonus for Flame Thrower by 10/20/30%.
  • Power Loaders now additionally increases the critical hit chance of Rocket Punch by 2/4/6%.

Pyrotech

Trooper

 General

  • Reduced the cost of Pulse Cannon to 24 energy cells (down from 25) and slightly reduced the damage it deals.

Commando

 Assault Specialist

  • Increased Assault Plastique explosion damage, but reduced the damage it deals over time.
  • Reduced the cost of Incendiary Round to 16 energy cells (down from 22) and slightly reduced the damage it deals.

Vanguard

Tactics

  • Increased the cost of Fire Pulse to 10 energy cells (up from 8 ) and increased the damage it deals.
  • Slightly reduced the damage done by Gut.
  • Cell Generator has been redesigned: While High Energy Cell is active, players regenerate 1/2 energy cells every 1.5 seconds.
  • Havoc Training now additionally also increases the critical strike damage bonus for Pulse Cannon by 10/20/30%.
  • Charged Loaders now additionally increases the critical hit chance of Stockstrike by 2/4/6%.
  • Pulse Generator has been redesigned: Ion Pulse, Explosive Surge, and Fire Pulse have a 50/100% chance to grant Pulse Generator, which affects the next Pulse Cannon by increasing the damage dealt 20%, reducing the energy cell cost by 2, slowing targets by 30%, and making it immune to interrupts. This effect can stack up to 3 times.

Assault Specialist

  • Increased Assault Plastique explosion damage, but reduced the damage it deals over time.
  • Reduced the cost of Incendiary Round to 16 energy cells (down from 22) and slightly reduced the damage it deals.
  • Ionized Ignition has been redesigned: Stockstrike has a 33/66/100% chance and if Plasma Cell is active, Ion Pulse has a 15/30/45% chance to trigger it

Crew Skills Crafting Skills

  • Removed Isotope 5 as a material requirement for crafting Rating 156 [Artifact] gear.

Items

  • A new tier of PvP gear, Obroan, is now available on the Fleet vendors:
  • Obroan gear requires Ranked Warzone Commendations as well as the associated Conqueror piece.
  • Individual Obroan-level mods have been added to the PvP modification vendor.
  • Conqueror gear is now available for normal Warzone Commendations.
  • Partisan gear is no longer available for sale.

PvP Warzones

 Arenas

  • 4v4 Warzone Arenas are now active! These small scale PvP maps are Last Team Standing in the best of 3 Rounds. Missions and rewards are provided in the same manner as current Warzones.
  • Arena Maps are currently active:
    • Orbital Station Arena
    • Tatooine Canyon Arena
    • Corellia Square Arena
  • Players can queue for Arenas in either Unranked, Ranked Solo or Ranked Group modes via the current PvP queue button on the UI minimap.

General

  • 8v8 Ranked Warzones have been removed from the Ranked Warzone queue. For more information on this change please see the Arena Blog Post
  • To ensure proper matchmaking, players are no longer able to change their Skill Tree points while in a Warzone queue or match.
  • Bolster has been adjusted to account for the new Obroan armor set.
  • PvP missions have been updated such that no longer require Warzone wins, and missions advance by two points for a Warzone win. New requirements are as follows:
    • Under level 55 Daily PvP missions: 2 completed Warzones
    • Under level 55 Weekly PvP missions: 5 completed Warzones
    • Level 55 Daily PvP missions: 4 completed Warzones
    • Level 55 Weekly PvP missions: 15 completed Warzones

Operatives should have had something done about their heals/roll, but whatever I’m just happy my class didn’t get nerfed 🙂

Dammit Bioware, quit removing gear shells from the game! Bye-Bye Partisan 🙁 I really liked a few of the classes sets this time around, just don’t have time to farm them all. They better add a classic vendor eventually that sells all the old sets that have been removed from the game…Tionese/Columi/Rakata/Centurion/Champion/Battlemaster/War Hero/Elite War Hero/Partisan…I’m sure I’m forgetting a few, and it’s hopeless anyway, if they do come back I’m sure they’ll be in the “$hop”.

That’s a really cool idea. Have the empty shells available in exchange for Basic comms or something like that.

I disagree a vendor of that type would suck and destroy the rarity of the stes I still have. I have all the original pvp minus battlemaster cause its attainable my centurion is not, to this day its still my pvp set its had champion through partisan in it

Ah crap, I thought they would have a different model, since conqueror models will replace the “basic” ones now. Do they have new colors though?

I’d like to see stats please (Mostly for Vindicator gear, weaponmaster mk1 device, vindicators mk1 package, deft mod ax, battle enhancement and initiaive enhancement) lol thats really just my shopping list

I wonder what’s the problem with BW in not putting the rating of PvP gear, the same as PvE gear, like 66, 69, etc…

I’m thinking about going to play in a PvP server with some other friends, but the fact of “having” to run constantly with PvP gear in such “low” level is kinda annoying, while you could’ve been with full 72’s.

The reasoning behind this decision is that you can’t run PvE content with more easily obtainable PvP gear. Bac in the day you could run stuff with WH or EWH sets, which is stupid. The new PvP sets are awesome for PvP but total shit on PVE (atleast on HM and beyond)

This was on the BH PVP 67 vendor, rest were recolors of conq gear.
*edit, that’s actually the conq. Trooper gear on the BH vendor…

Has anyone checked the phase walk CD thing? If I read that correctly that means if a Shadow/Assassin tank drops a PW for the healer and doesn’t tele and it goes the full 2 minutes he can just drop it again? Is that correct?

For the Conqueror PVP gear now being made avaliable with normal warzone comms, is anyone aware of restrictions that will be placed on this? I.E. valor rank etc?

If anyone has this information it would be much appreciated!

whenever new pvp comes in the old gear shifts down and the one at the bottom gets knocked off

Conqueror and Obroan have new cost (ranked and normal wz coms aren’t the same value per item as they used to be)

ranked enhancements are 30X which means that they are 69 mods so a fully modded char should have armoring 67 mod 67 enhancement 69

ranked enhancements cost siginificatly higher than before

there are new ranked relics

I for one am getting VERY tired of having to re-grind for PVP gear over and over again. This is getting stupid.

oh no coz this isnt an mmo which updates. poor you, you should only need to get one gear and be set for life.

First, intentional poor grammar and spelling only reflects poorly on you. Unless it is meant intentionally as sarcasm that is. No one should expect perfection, but at least attempt adequacy.

Second, and more importantly, if you think that playing an MMO should be an endless grind for better gear then maybe hamster-wheel MMO’s are for you, but they are not for me. Personally I prefer to think and be challenged rather than repeatedly bang my head against a wall to prove nothing more than my innate ability to bang my head against a wall.

Should gear change? Absolutely; I made no disparaging comment about gear improving. Rather, I’m of the belief MMO players deserve more than a Hamster-wheel.

Last, perhaps you should attempt to use dialog to make a valid point rather than troll a fellow player expressing their frustration. However, I still take solace in the belief that for every person who would attempt to dumb-down dialog and expression there are a dozen (or hopefully more) folks out there who would attempt to debate the merits of adding new gear rather than content for said gear.

Secondly nobody likes to have to farm for new gear all over again. I myself am best in slot conqueror geared, which means I now need to buy all the pieces again, extra mods and enhancements, as well as augmentation kits again for my Ear/Implants/Relics but that is how an MMO works. You have to work for your gear not get it handed to you on a silver platter.

You’ve made my point: You’ve work for your gear.

It’s expected that MMO’s will add “better” gear, but to remove and devalue the work that you and I have put in is a copout. All it is is skins and stats. We deserve more than being thrown the “grind” bone.

Why not add special gear ONLY for valor ranks, or special ability unlocks, or gear unlocks, or cosmetic unlocks, or achievements, or open-world PVP, or objectives on little-used planets? We could probably both go on.

My point is this: I agree with you that static is not the an acceptable state, but to dismiss progress of dedicated players is an insult to their intelligence and loyalty.

I agree with that first part, they shouldn’t then remove gear.

I don’t know. I get a bit buffed. I am running a hybrid and the only thing I lose is slightly some damage from blade and lost 40% slow on targets for prototype flamethrower, And the burst flame tinkering I don’t get but it seems to be even. Other than that I get damage buff and incendiary missile costs less.

I also run hybrid, but only in PVE and every mainattack (gut, incendiary round, pulse cannon) gets its damage reduced. Also the plasma cell will trigger less often.

Dulfy on PT changes in bursting flame what do they mean by Rocket punch has a chance. Chance for what? It then goes on “if” combustible cylinder is on burst has a chance to trigger it. I’m confused.

I declare today a national Dulfy appreciation day! Great work on the new content and keep it coming! You’re the best!

This still does not fix the problems of Assault and tactics not having enough burst damage by themselves, as both specs currently depends on each other for a good synergistic pvp spec.
I think this is even a bigger nail in the coffin of the Vanguard and power tech class as most people who actually got them to 55 have went on to Guardians as tanks (because they are better or Gunslinger/Sentinel for dps)

I currently run 2820 dps on the trainings dummy with my PvE Vanguard Hybrid Spec. Im full 72, missing one relic though and got two lesser Power Mods wich im gonna replace. Thats a good dps, but i have to run absolute perfect with my ammo. One mistake and my ammo is gone.
with my scoundrel, 69 equip and NO Augments, i run 2500 without worrying about energy.
Vanguard/PT is allready a very difficult class, but fun and competitive in PvE. With this patch, im not sure if i still wanna play it. It looses damage and they are killing hybrid specc wich i liked. Its kinda frustrating
