A guide and gallery to the new crafting backpacks introduced with GW2 September Feature Pack. This guide now include all 48 backpacks.
[toc]
Note: All the backpacks are account bound on creation so you must have the crafting skill on your account to acquire the backpiece. You will lose the backpack when you upgrade it to to the next tier but the skin is unlocked in the wardrobe automatically.
- These backpacks do with selectable stats and all have an upgrade slot (your need to right click the backpack in your inventory to select the stats). The final tier (400) also have a defensive or offensive infusion slot, depending on which one you picked to craft.

I’m don’t think this clear enough in the description. The backpacks have selectable stats when you right click them in your inventory. You can equip them without choosing stats, however.
Oh they have stats, hmm I missed that lol
yep – not just the normal everyday ones either. Settler’s, Magi, Soldier’s, all there.
Bear! RAWR!
are they gonna make ascended versions of these?
Unlikely, given that we already have MF recipes for those. Not to mention the stuff like the various God backpacks and Mawdrey.
You’re missing the Ascended screenshots.
There is no ascended version currently.
I played on CN server. Are they actually like CN version, more powerful than ascended backpieces because they come with full ascended stats but can STILL be gem slotted?
I am curous why Anet made the Jeweler have to use Iron and Steel…when they cant even make those. Why not use silver and gold? Its the only backpack that a profession could not make soley on their own.
Agreed, it makes very little sense for Jewelers to have to get their mats from another crafting discipline.
I think that is was just an error xD Prob gonna fix it soon with the right items
What do you make after the elegant backpack? When you examine elegant it says you can use as a crafting ingredient.
Meybe they ll put the ascended version too someday xD…since it already have a agony slot even if it’s only exotic
already tried the standard infused/ascended recipe on it? With gift of ascension and a glob and ectos?
asked this on the main forums, was told it wasnt an option for the forge.
It’d be nice if you could make a list or something that added up all the base crafting ingredients you’d need to make everything, assuming you had one of every profession.
The wiki can do this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special:RunQuery/Base_ingredients_query?
Just enter the name of the final item in the form.
Bah, can’t edit comments here. Realized that this won’t work directly with the Elegant backpacks, because of the offensive/defensive infusion slot variants. However, if you go to the backpack’s page like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elegant_Weaponsmith%27s_Backpack there is a link to this form at the bottom of each recipe box.
Looks like the tailoring one is the only practical looking backpack.
really? my charr warrior is totally going to be running around with a lit demon bull oven on his back.
That makes perfect sense! Why don’t we have packs like that in real life?
You mean you don’t go adventuring with a liquor cabinet on your back? Amateur! 😉
Please, I’m a professional! I pour all of my liquids into my backpack. Containers simply take up space! Sure, separating the water from the lamp oil and bug spray can be a bit of a pain, but I think we can ALL agree it’s worth it, providing nobody casts any fire magic…
exactly, I dont know how many times I have just been walking around and suddenly started craving BBQ Dolyak ribs wishing I had only brought my BBQ backpack along
The only thing really ennoying about these last backpacks : level 78.
funny thing is they have better stats than normal lvl 80 exotic backgear(32/18/18 compared to 22/16/16), but you can only upgrade them with lvl 65 gems,so you lose some stats(lvl 80 gems – 25/15/15,lvl 65 gems – 21/13/13) but in the end,you get more primary stats on the lvl 78 exotic crafting backpacks than on normal lvl 80 exotic backpieces(53/31/31 to 47/31/31)^^
but that doesnt really matter if you already have an ascended backpiece(56/35/35)…but them crafting backpacks are really cheap(~around 1g?)
You can use a lvl 65 Embellished jewel in the upgrade slot and the stats are higher than a level 80 exotic. Plus with the infusion slot it’s definitely better than an exotic lvl 80.
and still these backs aren’t portable crafting stations? :O with these tons of materials and tools you would almost say its a portable crafting station
No you’d have to pay gems for something like that, duh.
Oh man. I love these. I really like these backpacks. I think the Elegant Artificer’s Backpack will look awesome on my warrior and my thief can have a huge bag (maybe Intricate Leatherworker’s Backpack, or Ornate Tailor’s Backpack) for all the things he has stolen
these are really nice to the greatest parts. There was some actual thought in the design and hey.. these are backpacks that got vibrant colours and designs and look “natural” for once.. im sold
Elegant Leatherworker’s Backpack…
Yo Dawg,I heard you like bears, so we put a bear on your back so you can Bearbow Ranger while you Bearbow Ranger.
The back story could be that the pelt comes from a beloved pet who perished in your childhood, during ranger training. So you made it into a backpack and that way, you and your old friend would never have to be separated!
Hahahahaha, well played 😀
Anyone know what the “Captain’s” stats are?
“Captain” stats have already been in the game prior to this patch. They are the Precision, Power, Toughness stats with Precision being the main guy. Similar to Knight’s but not. Anet finally got around to slapping a name on it.
That’s unfortunate. I don’t see any of the little packs from some pictures someone posted a few months back. There were 2-3 I would have considered making/buying, but I’m not seeing them in these sets?
hehe, the only decent looking backpack is thankfully an easy one to make:
Simple Tailor’s Backpack/Sturdy Tailor’s Backpack
in the introduction, you should add the level requirement to wear a given tier of backpack.
Some of these are so ridiculous.
I’m carrying around a chest to keep my crafting things in, but instead of putting the things I need inside the chest, I’m going to hang them in a shelf off the side where they are exposed to the elements and likely to be stolen or lost.
Even better, lets chain a freaking anvil to the bottom of the chest with its working face inches from the surface it is chained to so that we couldn’t possibly ever use it.
Brilliant!
Yeah, as realistic as a greatsword made out of nightsky… 😛
lol
good one 🙂
The lower tier ones look better imo , the highest tier…really? The practical weaponsmith…HAH
man i always wanted a drawer as a back piece, thanks, Anet!
Well, some of the lower tiers would look good for RPers?
*Buys a bunch furniture at Ikea*
Cashier: “Filling up your new apartment, eh?
Adventurer: “Apartment? I’m going to wear this.”
Watch as Arenanet releases armor that when wearing the entire set it transforms you into a sofa.
HAHAHAHA oh god, this comment totally made my night.
I want to see cosplays.
I really like these new backs, so many cool ones i wanna theme around but not enough toons! D:
i crafted a tailor exotic back and chose the berseker+ valkyrie stats, but have +32power+18ferocity+18vitality. the question is, where is the precision?
have someone the same problem?
The berserker+valk stats is valkyrie backpiece + berserker gem. Add the best ruby jewel to it you can, and then you will have those stats.
I’ve been trying to add an exquisite jewel to the upgrade slot and it wont let me for whatever reason. I have the Elegant Weaponsmith’s Backpack set to Cavalier’s stats. I’ve tried adding all sorts of Exquisite jewels and none of them work. Am I missing something here? Maybe it’s a different type of upgrade that needs to be put there? Please help…. ><
you can use Embellished since the backpiece is only lvl 78.
Thanks J ! I have been trying out different upgrade items with no luck.
Dulfy? “Unequip this backpack to use it as a crafting ingredient. Using this as a
crafting ingredient will destroy any upgrade held within.”
Is this meaning in order to craft the next level piece? if so why is it on the top one?
Hello, I have crafted by mistake the wrong backpack – I crafted the Elegant Jeweler’s Backpack with the defensive infusion instead of the one with the offensive. Do you know if I can exchange it somehow or am I stuck and need to re-do it?
Find one that fits your lifestyle—and your frame. We evaluated several backpacks to find those with the best balance of fit, quality, comfort, and other features. We tested each backpack in a “tumbler” to see how well each would stand up to regular use (and possibly abuse). And we asked panelists to test the backpacks for comfort, using them in ways that simulate movements an average person makes in a typical day—walking, running, going up and down stairs, and picking things up from the floor—while wearing each backpack.
