SWTOR Preliminary patch notes for Patch 3.1.1 coming March 10, 2015.

General

  • The second dialogue choice when speaking to Jerwo Vhob on Rishi no longer appears blank in French and German.
  • The Decoration “Gree Light Pillar (Blue)” now consistently appears in the Decoration UI.
  • Numerous mounts have been updated to allow similar styles to utilize the same hook types within Strongholds.
  • The “Orbital Power Monitor” Decoration now has a 20% chance to drop from the final boss of Kuat Drive Yards.
  • The following decorations have been added to their appropriate faction Starfighter and PvP Decoration vendor. Their purchase cost are 5 Dark Projects and 5 Universal Prefabs MK-3
  • Applied the appropriate soundsets to numerous Nova Blades on Rishi.
  • The Southern Shore Crab now counts towards the "Fauna of Rishi" Achievement.
  • The Achievements to defeat Commander Mokan now have proper icons.
  • Customizing a character’s Body Type while riding a mount no longer turns the player into the mount.
  • The Sith Warrior Shadow of Revan intro cinematic has been updated so that Vette now appears in the gear the player has selected rather than default gear.
  • Conquest Points now sort by the number value instead of the first digit.

Cartel Market

  • The B-100 Cybernetic Hands no longer stretch when using the One Man Band Rest and Recharge item.
  • Corrected multiple missing/stretched textures present on the “Shaggy” hair style.
  • “Shaggy” hair now works on all Female Body Types.
  • “Emote: No Bones Dance” and “Emote: Punt” now correctly display in Collections that they can be purchased from the Acolyte’s Shadow Pack.
  • The RK-4, RK-5 and RK-6 Starforged Blasters have all been recalled, and now produce a different sound when fired.
  • The Holoprojector on the Hunter’s Planning Table Decoration has had its bulbs replaced and now displays longer.
  • Kreia’s Robes now display properly.

Classes + Combat
Jedi Knight
Sentinel

  • Just Pursuit has been redesigned: Leg Slash immobilizes the target for 3 seconds. This immobilizing effect cannot be applied to the same target more than once every 10 seconds.
  • Removed the Stagger and Defiance Skillful Utilities.
  • New Skillful Utility: Reining Reach. Reining Reach increases the range of Leg Slash to 10 meters and reduces its focus cost by 2.
  • New Skillful Utility: Adamant. You generate 4 focus when stunned, immobilized, put to sleep, or knocked down. Additionally, the cooldown of Resolute is reduced by 30 seconds.
  • Removed the health penalty from Guarded by the Force. Additionally, the base cooldown of Guarded by the Force has been increased by 60 seconds.
  • Force Camouflage now additionally grants immunity to controlling effects for its full duration. Dealing direct damage ends this immunity.
  • The tooltip of Leg Slash now properly displays the duration of the speed reduction effect.
  • Fixed the Defensive Forms Utility, and it now properly increases damage reduction in Shii-Cho Form.

Combat

  • Saber Storm’s tooltip now displays the correct critical strike damage bonus.
  • Immaculate Force’s tooltip now displays the proper Ability name for the class.

Sith Warrior
Marauder

  • Inescapable has been redesigned: Crippling Slash immobilizes the target for 3 seconds. This immobilizing effect cannot be applied to the same target more than once every 10 seconds.
  • Removed the Stagger and Unyielding Skillful Utilities.
  • New Skillful Utility: Maiming Reach. Maiming Reach increases the range of Crippling Slash to 10 meters and reduces its rage cost by 2.
  • New Skillful Utility: Inexorable. You generate 4 rage when stunned, immobilized, put to sleep, or knocked down. Additionally, the cooldown of Unleash is reduced by 30 seconds.
  • Removed the health penalty from Undying Rage. Additionally, the base cooldown of Undying Rage has been increased by 60 seconds.
  • Force Camouflage now additionally grants immunity to controlling effects for its full duration. Dealing direct damage ends this immunity.
  • The tooltip of Crippling Slash now properly displays the duration of the speed reduction effect.

Jedi Consular
Sage

  • Metaphysical Alacrity now properly increases the duration of Force Speed.

Shadow

  • Phase Walk now has a 10 minute duration (up from 5).
  • The Utility "Mind Over Matter" now properly increases Force Speed duration.
  • The Passive Ability “Rapid Recovery” now grants +100% Force Regen bonus to Double-Bladed Saber Tactics as intended.

Agent
Sniper
Virulence

  • The critical hit chance of Laze Target now effects the full duration of Cull.

Trooper

  • Full Auto is now exclusive to the Commando Advanced Class and can be trained at level 15.
  • Pulse Cannon can now be trained at level 3 (previously 8) and Mortar Volley can now be trained at level 8 (previously 10).
  • All Troopers may want to visit their Class trainer to ensure they have the highest ranks of all the affected abilities mentioned above.

Vanguard

  • Increased the ability activation cooldown of Shoulder Cannon to 1.5 seconds (up from .5 seconds).
  • Slightly reduced the damage of Shoulder Cannon.
  • Edited the tooltip for Electro Shield to indicate that it only deals retaliatory damage against direct damage, not periodic damage.
  • The Shoulder Cannon tooltip now displays the proper cooldown for time between missile launches.

Plasmatech

  • Adrenaline Fueled has been redesigned: While Adrenaline Rush is active, your damage reduction is increased by 30%. Additionally, the cooldown of Adrenaline Rush is reduced by 60 seconds.
  • The damage dealt by Shockstrike and Fire Pulse has been reduced.
  • Rain of Fire has been redesigned: Pulse Cannon deals 10% additional damage to burning targets.
  • Plasma Barrage has been redesigned: Fire Pulse makes your next Ion Pulse or Explosive Surge deplete no energy cells. Additionally, Pulse Cannon now Overwhelms the targets it damages. Overwhelmed targets take 10% more damage from area attacks.
  • Plasmatic Assault now additionally increases the critical bonus of Plasmatize by 30%.
  • Ionized Ignition now properly applies a Burning state to all affected targets.

Shield Specialist

  • Ion Shield has been redesigned: Further increases damage reduction while Ion Cell is active by 2%. Additionally, Energy Blast damages up to 3 additional enemy targets within 5 meters of the primary target. Does not damage sleeping, lifted, or incapacitated enemies.
  • Energy Blast now generates 25% additional threat.

Commando
Gunnery

  • Cover Fire now slows the target’s movement speed by 70% for 3 seconds with each hit (up from 2 seconds).

Combat Medic

  • Fixed a bug that removed the Kolto Residue slow effect from Kolto Bomb.

Bounty Hunter

  • Unload is now exclusive to the Mercenary Advanced Class and can be trained at level 15.
  • Flame Thrower can now be trained at level 3 (previously 8) and Death from Above can now be trained at level 8 (previously 10).
  • All Bounty Hunters may want to visit their class trainer to ensure they have the highest ranks of all the affected abilities mentioned above.

Powertech

  • Increased the ability activation cooldown of Shoulder Cannon to 1.5 seconds (up from .5 seconds).
  • Slightly reduced the damage of Shoulder Cannon.

  • The damage dealt by Flaming Fist and Immolate has been reduced.
  • Rain of Fire has been redesigned: Flame Thrower deals 10% additional damage to burning targets.
  • Flame Barrage has been redesigned: Immolate makes your next Flame Burst or Flame Sweep generate no heat. Additionally, Flame Thrower now Overwhelms the targets it damages. Overwhelmed targets take 10% more damage from area attacks.
  • Firebug now additionally increases the critical bonus of Scorch by 30%.
  • Fixed Automated Defenses to properly reduce the cooldown of Kolto Overload by 60 seconds.
  • Volatile Ignitor now properly applies a Burning state to all affected targets.

Shield Tech

  • Ion Screen has been redesigned: Further increases damage reduction while Ion Gas Cylinder is active by 2%. Additionally, Heat Blast damages up to 3 additional enemy targets within 5 meters of the primary target. Does not damage sleeping, lifted, or incapacitated enemies.
  • Heat Blast now generates 25% additional threat.

Mercenary
Arsenal

  • Pinning Fire now slows the target’s movement speed by 70% for 3 seconds with each hit (up from 2 seconds).

Flashpoints + Operations
The Ravagers

  • Lowered Torque’s health on 16-Player Story Mode.
  • Shield Squadron 1’s “Orbital Laser” and “Missile Blast” damage areas now more closely match their indicators.
  • The “Devastation” debuff tooltip no longer refers to “The Rock.”

Battle of Rishi

  • Toned down the damage of non-boss enemies, with a bit more emphasis on the "Strong" tier enemies, in the Hard Mode version.
  • Rarrook no longer Jet Charge’s at Companions or the GSI Combat Support Droid.
  • Decreased the damage of Full Auto (Rarook), Suppressive Fire (Marko’Ka), and Stealth Strike (Marko’Ka).
  • Decreased damage of Master Obai’s Master Strike, and Lord Vodd’s Ball Lightning (Both the impact damage and the subsequent DoT).
  • Decreased the damage output of the Called Reinforcements during the Shield Squadron Unit 1 encounter.
  • Commander Mokan’s "Compound 9 Reload" channel is no longer interrupted if his main target vanishes during his Hard Mode encounter.
  • Commander Mokan’s “Compound 9” now highlights as a Cleansable debuff in the Debuff Frame.
  • Decreased the damage of "Compound 9" and "Compound 17."
  • Increased the damage of Commander Mokan’s Ranged Attack.

Blood Hunt

  • Yustapir’s “Hurl” ability now respects a player’s knockback immunity.
  • Jos and Valk Beroya no longer stay on their ledges in certain situations.
  • Players who are knocked off of the platform when fighting Jos Beroya are now spawned at the correct checkpoint.
  • Krakjya and Krakjya Stalker no longer have the Boss Immunity buff.

Depths of Manaan
Hard Mode

  • Decreased the damage that non-boss enemies deal by about 20%.
  • Further decreased the damage dealt by Dual Saber Throw (Shasa Zealots) and Long Range Snipe (Facility Snipers) by 5% (for a total reduction of 25%). This also applies to the Shasa Zealots that appear during the Ortuno encounter.
  • Sairisi has been retuned:
    • Slightly reduced the overall damage done by the encounter (~4%).
    • Slightly reduced the health of the Riot Suppression Droids (~5%).
    • The rate at which Riot Suppression Droids auto-repair under their Riot Suppression Shield now degrades each time the shield cycles by 1/3. This means the second time they shield themselves, they’ll heal at 2/3 the normal rate, the third time they’ll heal at 1/3 the normal rate, and the fourth time they cease healing entirely.
  • Ortuno has been retuned:
    • Reduced Ortuno’s Health (~15%).
    • Increased the damage Ortuno direct attacks deal (except for Energy Eruption) by ~10%.
    • Decreased the damage of Energy Eruption (~15%).
  • Stivastin has been retuned:
    • Significantly reduced the damage of the Lab Guardian droid adds (-25%).
    • Increased the duration that flame jets suppress Stivastin’s regeneration to 36s (up from 30s).
    • Increased the damage that flame jets deal to Stivastin by 20%.
  • Increased the Credit reward for “[HARD] Depths of Manaan” for both Factions to match that given by similar Flashpoints.

Assault on Tython

  • The Falling Rock ability used during the Master Oric Traless / Lord Goh encounter in Assault on Tython now shows the damage at the moment of impact.
  • The Mark VII Training Droids in Hard Mode Assault on Tython now correctly spawn as Strong instead of Elite.
  • Lieutenant Kreshin’s ability “Slash” now hits for the correct amount of damage in Hard Mode Assault on Tython.
  • The Force Push distance for both Imperial and Republic Commanders has been reduced.

Korriban Incursion

  • The damage increase from the Zen ability for the Republic Commander bonus boss is now the same as the Imperial Commander in Hard Mode.

Legacy of the Rakata

  • The Imperial version of “[HARD] Legacy of the Rakata” now grants the same Credit reward as the Republic version.

Items + Economy

  • Level 60 Hard Mode Flashpoints and Story Mode Operations now drop MK-2 gear instead of MK-1.
  • Kell Dragon Force-Master 4-Piece Set Bonus now functions properly for Sages.
  • The Medical Grade Injector has been added to Mnek, the Scrap Peddler: Prototype Materials vendor.
  • Deceiver Force-Lord Hood no longer has clipping issues with helmets.
  • The Headhunter’s Helmet now has voice modulation.
  • Fixed skinning issue with Devoted Armor Boltblaster’s Body Armor that caused it to distort while running.
  • Fixed distortion issues on Female Body Types for Revanite, Deceiver, Pummeler, and Bulwark armor.
  • The following crafting items can now be placed on the Galactic Trade Network:
    • Exonium
    • Matter Transubstantiator
  • Increased the stats up to the correct level for the following items:
    • Yavin Force-healer’s MK-1 Motivator
    • Deceiver Force-healer’s MK-1 Motivator
    • Massassi Force-healer’s MK-1 Motivator
  • The Veda Cloth Lower Robes no longer cause player’s legs to disappear

Missions + NPCs

  • The Missions “Forged Alliances: Part I” and “Forged Alliances: Part II” are now available at the same level as “[Prelude] Shadow of Revan.” The progress on these missions has been reset.
  • The Yavin 4 Bonus Mission “Chopping Block” has had its kill requirements lowered from 10 to 6. The progress on this mission has been reset.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to not receive proper credit for the Mission “The Enemy Within” upon defeating the Revan encounter in Temple of Sacrifice.
  • Republic players now correctly receive credit for the Mission “[WEEKLY] Galactic Conflicts” when completing Hard Mode Battle of Rishi through the Group Finder.
  • Level 55 Tactical Flashpoints now count towards the Mission “[WEEKLY] Tactical Flashpoints.”
  • The lockbox on Rishi required for the Mission “Monkey-Lizard Business” can no longer become unusable.
  • The French voiceover for the Smuggler’s Shadow of Revan Class Mission now matches the translation.
  • Troopers who have completed the Flashpoint Depths of Manaan now have their involvement acknowledged on the Mission “Eclipse Squad.”

      as person who’s played the PT for over 3 years, this isn’t even the worst thing to bitch about in 3.1.1. in PvE, it’s still 100% viable with the added time to its internal cooldown and in pvp, it will still serve as added burst in the AP spec that was solid without the shoulder cannon.

      quit giving us a bad name.

      Seriously? by the time u use full auto in a rotation to “build threat” stockstrike is off cooldown. Also 1.5 seconds may turn out to be a good thing (the average vanguard tank spams all 4 missiles, but this can help them save a couple for other situations).

      AND

      Ion Shield: “Further increases damage reduction while Ion Cell is active by 2%. Additionally, Energy Blast damages up to 3 additional enemy targets within 5 meters of the primary target. Does not damage sleeping, lifted, or incapacitated enemies.

      Energy Blast now generates 25% additional threat.”

      energy blast is now a close proximity aoe, builds higher threat in addition to its set bonus and its shield absorb increase that it already has (seriously thats like 4 abilities in one) and another 2% damage reduction.

      PLEASEEEEE tell me more about vanguard nerf?

          You want a challenge, then go do a real one. Run a marathon. Climb a mountain. Pressing buttons behind desk for many hours while not making any real movement at all isn’t a challenge, it’s just a waste of time. And if there’s a chance to waste less of that time, i.e. by making things more streamlined, then it’s better. As you’ll be wasting less time, see.

            You want to pass flashpoints without any thought put into what are you doing, go ahead and play Tacticals. It’s a place for casuals, so why you bother with HMs when it’s not meant for you and bash players that actually know how to play?

            Every type of player is welcomed and everyone can find their place in swtor. You want an easy way out? If it fits you it’s fine by me, you get tacticals. You want a challenge? Fine by me, you get hard modes.
            Besides, it’s not a matter of hours. Every HM flashpoints takes slightly more time than Tacticals if the group is decent.

            And how do you know that a person who wants a challenging game is wasting his life? You imply that he’s a loser in real life. That’s poor deduction. I don’t see every gamer from late 80s and 90s to be a loser just because they used to spent a lot of their time on hardcore NES games. You’re just butthurt over the fact someone else is doing better at the game? Now who’s wasting time for complains behind desk that don’t matter?

            My personal opinion about the patch:
            I didn’t think HM flashpoints were too hard for PUGs except the new ones: Battle of Rishi and Blood Hunt. These two were overtuned and ridiculous for random groups, so it’s great they nerf them.

              i didn’t think BoR and BH were that hard at all. it always came down to player ability and not gear. swtor has dumbed down so much content that, imo, the player pool’s overall ability is at low point. sm ops were all turned into tank and spanks for the most part pre-3.0. and sm heroes wanted the HM FPs to be the same way.

              i thought these HM FPs were a step in the right direction as are the SM ops. the player pool needs to get better and there is an expected learning curve in progress.

                The main issue for pugs is the first boss on BH. I have never met a random group that could do it. I always do BH with guildmates because of those people that I meet in GF.

          Challenge is not on the tacticals, pugers and casual players have to be able to play without wiping too.

      I’m all for challenge. But some of those boss fights crossed the line of challenge and became just idiotic. Manaan was notorious for having ridiculously long boss fights that were neither fun nor were they challenging. Pure endurance fights have a place, and I do not think that 4 person instances pugs were that place.

        Don’t get me wrong, I agree that some tuning was needed on certain boss fights especially the pointlessly long for the sake of being long ones that you are talking about. What bothered me was the amount of nerfs and/or ‘dumbing down’ being done across the board.

          Its not bad guys, there is plenty of Hard Mode and Nightmare mode content for the Hard core players to enjoy.

          Think about the pugers too, they were wiping like crazy so they need it.

      They are more Puger friendly now which is not a bad thing at all.

      For the Hard players the HM versions are available to enjoy them the Hard way.
      No complains on that.

    So when they say “recall” the RK blasters, does that mean I’ll lose my RK 4, 5 and 6 blasters? Or is that just the way they’re wording it saying they’re changing the sound? I’m quite excited / hopeful about the change to the sound. Those are such beautiful blasters and they deserve an awesome blaster sound, not the “roman candle shooting out of a lead pipe” sound 😛

    NOW they finally decided to fix ‘The Temple Within’? I’ve cleared ToS enough to have done that mission on all 15 of my classes….I gave up and eventually just did it solo.

    Yes, yes, yes, many thanks for this! The current sound (to me) is as I was banging two empty pepsi litters together very fast, its just wrong sound for such an awesome looking gun. Gun reminds me of robo-cops gun in the 80’s movie.

      It persist only while you are mounted unfortunately and is reversed as soon as you dismount

          Its like a solo mount mode free style, we like it !

      most people ride around on speeders. if you happened to activate the customization while riding the speeder it didnt work right and made your character invisible so all you saw is the speeder without a rider

      its not like anyone was doing it on purpose and saying it turned you into the mount is a bit misleading. what it really did was make your character disapear and because yo8u were not on foot, it didnt respawn the character model but you were still on the speeder

    Wow seems like an awesome bug fix patch! I’m just happy they finally fixed the stats on the sorc healer implants. Not that I was needing to buy them drastically, but mostly just due it driving me nuts that the gear was so obviously wrong.

      Yeah, that seems a bit much. 3 and 3 would have been reasonable. Not like people are going to fill their strongholds with these things.

    Thank goodness level 55 tacticals (all of them) count now. I can solo spam czerka labs now :). Battle of rishi got dumbed down so baddies could feel good about themselves.

    Vanguard tank got stronger. Manaan got weaker for the baddies. Torque’s HP was lowered so that the usual pugs you find in GF that average 1.5 dps could feel better about themselves.

    I’m not hating. Some great things in this patch.

    To all those that completed this content in their original (and even bugged) form, to you I say congratulations. You are a good player. Keep it up and hope to see you in in-game content.

    P.S: Do my eyes deceive me? Or is this a “we’re not nerfing operatives” patch? It’s been a while since I saw one of those!

      A bit more Puger friendly now the new tactical flashes.
      Which is not bad at all.

      It was a bit disappointing to finish the old 55 tacticals and then realize that they didn’t counted for the weekly.
      Good this is fixed now.

    Lots of good stuff in here. I wish I had known I could turn myself into a Rancor earlier, imagine how much fun it would have been to straight up wrestle with Lucky.
    I don’t mind them toning down HM’s if it means more queue popping (and it should, I am sure some people were sticking to 55hms) Plus the added bonus when pugging is that it wont be insanely miserable dragging that guy in greens along (there is always that guy).
    I got Qyzen to 60k hp last night, might be able to companion tank some of these now.
    No more spending 30+ minutes on 1st boss in Manaan? Hurray!
    No more disappearing Gree pillars? Yes please.
    They got an influx of new staff from that dead project, it looks like it might be helping. Good to see an exhaustive laundry list of bugs being fixed.

    not sure why they are nerfing powertechs/vanguards when they are far from the top dps class.. its hilarious.. and the other nerfs being thrown out to sorcs etc. shortly after.. hey heres an idea lets just make 1 dps class the best no matter what and nerf everything else this should get us more subs

      The reason they gave was “Pyrotech was doing far more damage than they intended.”

      Of course, someone forgot to tell Bioware that Pyrotech isn’t consuming the 6-piece set bonus and as such has a guaranteed 75% auto-crit rate on Immolate (with the right gear) instead of the intended 25% auto-crit that Plasmatech has to deal with.

      At least Pyrotech will still sort-of work thanks to this. RIP in peace Plasmatech

      When ignorant people complain and ask for Nerfs because they cant properly play Pvp then all hell breaks loose.

      This madness should stop, no more Nerfs to any class.
      And they should make a new PvP only class so all will play the same character and that would be it.

    For the most part, this looks like an awesome update. I’m glad they’re making HM Rishi more manageable and allowing lv 55 tact FPs to count for the weekly. However, I’m a bit disappointed that they’re nerfing HM Manaan and NOT HM Blood Hunt. Manaan is hard, but it’s a fun challenge, whereas that first boss on HM Blood Hunt is nearly impossible.

    i am just curious is Hm bulo supposed to throw fire barrels that hit PT/Jugg (heavy armor users in general) for 42k? in less then a single gcd? as well as be hit with a 20k load lifter all within the time limit less then a single gcd? im just curious if this a bugg or not.. cause at times bulos fire barels hit for 20k and then other rando times i get hit for 42k by a fire barrel.. this just doesn’t seem legit… if u have 1 random act of stuff happening u are dead.. for instance the other night in a 8m hm on bulo all in less then a single gcd i got hit with 19k load lifter 39k barrel throw, and then a 9k sniper shot from an add.. how is any1 supposed to heal or live through that within the instant of a single gcd? makes no sense

      Well the barrel is internal damage so it ignores your armor.

      If adds are shooting at you then the DPS have messed up with the kiting. As for the rest-buffs from thing like Sorcs, cooldowns, etc.

      Lifted my combat log. It is not random, it deals 29 329 of elemental damage unmitigated all the time, sometimes it is combined with ~20-21k of kinetic damage from load lifters so 50k HP buffer is a must for this fight. Randomness in the damage taken may be affected by usage of deffensive CDs but barrel itself never hits harder than 29k

      I have the worst RNG in this fight, I usually get fire barrel + load lifter + purple circle and usually die. It’s not a fun fight. (On my commando if that makes a difference.)

    I really don’t understand the sudden removal of full auto/unload for vanguards/powertechs, seeing as how they’ve had this ability since I played in the beta.

    If the goal is to make these advanced classes more close-combat oriented, I would think they would take flamethrower away from mercs to clarify that they are the long-range class.

    The way they’ve been changing up abilities I wouldn’t be surprised if powertechs lose death from above as well, just like they took orbital strike away from operatives.

      unload had no place in a pt rotation anyway, even as filler it was a subpar damage choice. unloads always had a tooltip to remind you “damage increased by dual wielding” it should probably have never been on pt to begin with

      it is interesting that companion powertechs all use melee weapons; the devs really missed the opportunity to give classes weapon options

        It was decent filler if you couldn’t be in melee range, like Sparky’s Rampage or (if tanking Pearl) Pearl’s untauntable mode. You can’t chase the bosses all over the map.
        I would also use it on the Master and Blaster fight if I was tanking Blaster. I’d throw taunts at Blaster then target Master and add a little DPS with Full Auto/Sticky Grenade/High Impact Bolt.
        Aside from that it really doesn’t have a place in the new ops. I would have to really go back and think hard if I were to determine its place in the 55 ops, then re-determine in HM and/or NiM.
