SWTOR Cartel Market Changes in Fallen Empire

The SWTOR Cartel Market will be having some key changes with the upcoming expansion.

Hi all!

I wanted to take a moment and let you all know of some exciting changes coming to the Cartel Market with the release of Knights of the Fallen Empire. We are touching almost every portion of the Cartel Market in some way or another, and below are some of the bigger changes that we hope you guys will be excited about.

Our primary goal behind most of the Cartel Market changes for 4.0 is making things easier to understand at a glance and making things more accessible. Below are a few examples of how we are attempting to address this goal:

  • Players have had feedback on navigating the Collections interface for a while now, so we are focusing on making some quality of life changes to make it easier to use.
  • Cartel Market item rarities have caused a lot of confusion in the past for those who have not spent a lot of time with it, so we want to make those rarities simple and easy to understand for all players.
  • Players have been asking for a long time to have more access to previously released items and packs that are no longer available on the market, so we are going to make everything available on the market at all times (more details on that below).

Collections Updates

We are happy to have the opportunity to make some really great changes that will make the Cartel experience even better based on feedback from you, the players. Some of these changes include:

  • The ability to filter items in Collections.
  • The Collections interface will now start out automatically collapsed.
  • The number of Outfit pieces that you have unlocked will be displayed.
  • You can now purchase collection unlocks on the character that originally unlocked the item.

Rarity Changes for Pack Items

Currently, we use the terms ‘Rare’, ‘Super Rare’, and ‘Ultra Rare’. Moving forward with Knights of the Fallen Empire, these rarities will be changed to ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’, and ‘Gold’. We are hoping that this will help address any confusion over what rarity level any specific item is.

Why the change? Currently, all items found in a pack are presented with either a Silver or Gold Cartel Market emblem. In the case of our Super Rare and Ultra Rare items, there was no visual distinction on the item itself to indicate the difference in rarity, which was understandably confusing. By moving to Bronze, Silver, and Gold, we are streamlining not only how we talk about Cartel items, but how we present them within the inventory system as well.
Some of you may recall that we have three different Cartel Market emblems on the items in your inventory, and they are – you guessed it, Bronze, Silver, and Gold! By making this update to our rarities, we are hoping to more accurately communicate item rarities across the board. Bronze quality items will now be associated with a Bronze Cartel Market emblem, Silver quality with a Silver emblem, and Gold quality with a Gold emblem.

We are touching almost every item in the Cartel Market to make sure their rarity actually matches the player popularity. This means that it is not a simple Rare = Bronze. Rare might be Silver if it was more popular than we originally anticipated.

Changes to Monthly Pack Contents

Alongside the other changes we have talked about, our regular pack shipments are also going to be seeing quite a few changes. Let’s go through them:

  • Better quality items in each pack – The baseline pack items will now primarily be Armor, Mounts/Vehicles, Decorations, and Toys. We will add other item types as well, but only when they are high-demand items.
  • Two items per pack – Each pack now only has two items in it. One item will be from the bullet above, a mount or some other “bigger” item. The other item slot will be a Grade 5 rare or artifact level Companion gift.
  • New Superpack – The new Superpack contains 5 packs, allowing another option on purchasing packs. In case you want more than one, but less than a Hypercrate. Speaking of…
  • Hypercrates – Hypercrates are still around, but they now contain 30 packs so you can get even more chances to get that rare item you are hunting for!
  • Pack Embargos – When a monthly pack is removed from the Cartel Market, it is unlikely to return to the market in that form. However, the specific items that are found in that pack are all automatically placed in their corresponding Bronze, Silver or Gold Pack. Ex: The Example pack launches on September 1st with an example mount. On September 1st, you can also now get the Example mount out of the Silver and Gold Mount packs. On October 1st, the Example pack is embargoed from the Cartel Market, however, the Example mount will remain available in the Silver and Gold packs for the rest of time.

Introducing Bronze, Silver, and Gold Packs

We will be introducing new Grand Packs that are permanently available on the market are updated every time we introduce a new item. These packs will change how items are available which are introduced and embargoed from the Cartel Market, including both pack and direct sale items.

For the main categories we will be releasing Bronze, Silver and Gold packs for each one! The categories for these packs are as follows:

  • Armor
  • Decorations
  • Mounts

Bronze Packs will contain an item of either Bronze, Silver, or Gold quality (just like a Grand Pack now), Silver Packs will contain an item of either Silver, or Gold quality, and Gold Packs will contain an item of Gold quality! This means you may purchase a Bronze Mount Pack and obtain items such as the Ikas Falchion or the Savanna Vorantikus, or go straight for the Gold Mount Pack and ensure you are walking away with nothing less than the best!

These packs will contain items from all existing (pack and direct sale) and new Cartel market items! As we add new Mounts, Armors, and Decorations to our new Shipment Packs, those items will also be added to their respective Bronze, Silver, and Gold Category Packs. This allows for the best possible list of options available to obtain the item you want in the Cartel Market.

For any category that does not have enough items to be split into Bronze Silver and Gold packs, we will be creating permanent Grand Packs. These packs, such as the Grand Pets Pack, contain only the item type the pack itself mentions. We have found these to be an enjoyable addition to the Market, so we are expanding the range on them!

We will be offering permanent Grand Packs for the following items:

  • Weapons
  • Crystals
  • Galactic Starfighter
  • Emotes
  • Pets
  • Companion Customizations
  • Titles
  • Dyes
  • Toys

These packs will contain items from all existing Cartel Market items of each category, from the Crime Lord’s Cartel Pack, Wild Space Explorer’s Pack and all Direct Sale items. If you ever wanted that Savanna Nekarr Cat Pet from the Pursuer’s Bounty Pack, or the Advanced Purple Outline Crystal from the Architect’s Stronghold Pack but grew tired of waiting for a pack Embargo, now is your time to get them.

Miscellaneous Changes

That will cover most of the changes which we are seeing to the Market, but we have a few stragglers left to go over:

  • The current list of available direct sale items will be pruned down quite a bit.
  • We will occasionally bring pack highly sought after pack items, such as the Temple Guardian Armor Set or the Dune Sea Bantha, as short term direct sales. This way, if you don’t want to take a chance in buying a Grand Pack, you can just directly buy that item outright.
  • We have rearranged the storefront categories to be more in-line with the new Cartel Market plan. This new layout will also make it easier to find the categories players look for most.
  • All 1 credit items from the Cartel Reputation vendors will be removed, but they will still remain available as part of the new Grand Packs.
  • All items from Cartel Reputation vendors that are not specific to that reputation will be removed. These items are still available in their respective Grand Packs.

We hope you like the changes we are making to the Cartel Market and to Collections. We believe that these changes will give you a much better user experience whether you buy items from the Cartel Market, from the Galactic Trade Network, or just trade things with your friends.

Cartel Market Changes Coming in Fallen Empire! | 10.02.2015, 03:21 PM

Hey folks,

Based on a lot of the feedback we have been seeing I noticed I missed a few details in the blog.

  • Any existing pack in your bank/inventory will not be affected by any of these changes.
  • Armor Sets from the Monthly Cartel Packs will come in 3 lootboxes (Upper, Lower, Auxiliary).
  • Bronze, Silver, and Gold Armor Packs will contain full armor sets.
  • The new Shipment will not have a reputation associated with it.
  • Any item that was specific to a reputation (aka not available in a pack) will continue to be available for purchase from the associated Reputation vendor
  • Reputations from previous Shipments will still be made available through the packs on the GTN and Grand Shipment Packs that will return the the market from time to time.

As with all things Cartel Market, things are subject to change based on your feedback.

Cartel Market Changes Coming in Fallen Empire! | 10.02.2015, 10:44 PM

Hey folks,

Thank you for all your feedback today. Based off of that feedback we will be reverting the change to the reputation vendors. We are still condensing down to a single vendor per reputation, but it will contain all items that are currently available on Live.

Please keep the feedback coming.

pls someone explain me why is it necessary to put companion gifts in the packs again ? i tthink i’m not alone who think we DON’T NEED jawa junk / craft.mat. / companion gift …..etc useless crap; what we want ? decor items / mounts / gear / weapons / toys+emotes+pets ……

I’m with you on this one. The goal of this seemed to be cutting out useless crap that nobody wants… but they leave in the companion gifts? What???

Because some people like “free” gifts? I am one of them and i feel fine with those companion gifts, whatever you gonna say. And i am sure, i am not alone on this.

I love the comp gifts too as I use them to raise the affection of comps that don’t agree w/ my choices. I’m glad all the xp boost ones will be gone though…they were useless and I always end up destroying them since they can’t be sold to vendors.

You can get companion gifts from missions, most, if not all, of the ones in the cartel packs are gotten from Diplomacy. I’d say comp gifts are even less useful than the Jawa Scrap.

Um, just because YOU don’t need them doesn’t mean it’s useless for everyone. Crafters need jawa junk. People trying to max affection need companion gifts. What’s the big deal? Just sell them on GTN and make some credits. These things aren’t the equivalent of items you want anyway. Frankly, they were just tacked on to make the pack seem bigger. If they take them out, they will just be out – not replaced with anything substantial. So why not just keep them in?

Hmmm the people that have bought the boosts I sold would tend to disagree with you. Quit your uninformed rage tantrum.

I don’t need XP boosts, crafting materials or companions gifts in packs. I just want armor, weapons, mounts, decorations and emotes.

Boosts gifts and so on are just filler that make me hate BioWare!

Are the prices going down for the individual packs? Removing the amount of items yet keeping them the same price would seem strange. Especially if it is literally only a single chance of an item per pack.

Right now you can get 2 items, with the chance that you could get 2 minor social boosts in a single pack. They are lowering it to 1 item per pack, but removing a ton of useless/worthless crap. The problem with limiting it to only “Armor, Mounts/Vehicles, Decorations, and Toys” and lowering it to 1, is that there are plenty of worthless armor sets and vehicles. It will be interesting how this plays out. The fact that they are adding 6 packs to hypercrates make me think that the overall value per pack (to the player, not necessarily cost per pack on CM) will in fact be going down.

What’s going to happen to Cartel certificates I wonder, with this 2-item pack system… and costs. If a two-item pack is more expensive than the current packs (or the same), we’ll be severely dinged.

I am very curious about this as well. I have a ton of cartel certs saved up as there have never been many things purchasable with them that i’ve been interested in.

All of the pack changes appear to be retroactive. If that is true, you’d best consume all of your stronghold packs now (as they contain 3 items each, which is why they sell for way more than other shipments). Also, what is happening to cartel reputation? If packs only have 1 item and 1 gift, they no longer drop reputation items (or cartel certs, which were on the reputation loot table) and it would thus be impossible to get these reputations (aside from the one available through the slot machine).

They are clearly reducing the impact of reputation/certs: “All items from Cartel Reputation vendors that are not specific to that reputation will be removed. These items are still available in their respective Grand Packs.” That removal exclusively(?) targets certificate items. Perhaps they are phasing out reputations altogether, or maybe they simply forgot about reputation when typing the ‘2 items per pack’ paragraph?

Yeah, is there nothing that gives out Cartel Certificates anymore? Anything you need Certificates to buy is unpurchasable once you do run out?

Hmm, so less items from the packs, but better chances of getting something I’d want? I’ll admit, I will probably NEVER use those xp boost items, so I’m okay with this.

Those boost items are the bane of my pack-opening existence, I am very glad they’re taking those out. Now, what to do with this entire stack of major Starfighter XP boosts…

Why, you could use them to capitalize on your frequent starfighter exp grinds! That’s at thing people do, right? I assume it is, otherwise WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS D’:

Easy to miss but its in there. They just aren’t in the list at the end, cause deco packs are split into the bronze/silver/gold packs.

“For the main categories we will be releasing Bronze, Silver and Gold packs for each one! The categories for these packs are as follows:Armor Decorations Mounts”
“As we add new Mounts, Armors, and Decorations to our new Shipment Packs, those items will also be added to their respective Bronze, Silver, and Gold Category Packs.”

What change I’d REALLY like to see is not getting charged 700 cartel coins to unlock an armor I already paid 1400 coins for on the rest of my toons. That’s about 20$ for a cosmetic suit of armor!

Andrew, you and I share that same frustration. Like, they really should streamline it so that all items of each rarity (bronze, silver, gold) cost the same. For example, if Darth Andeddu’s armor set is in the gold tier, it could cost the same as every other set in that tier. If it were up to me, gold tier sets would cost 600 coins, silver would be 400, and bronze would be 200.

Not like it’ll happen, but one can dream 🙂

It should all cost the same across the board imo. Right now, to unlock those craptastic and common as all hell Antique Sorroco weapons, it is 240cc. Now, those new guns, the really nice ones? Those are all 60cc each. Honestly, all weapons should just be 60cc. All armors should be 90cc. Mounts, 90cc. As it stands right now, it seems random. Like we are paying for how Barry in marketing feels that day. Put everything at these reasonable prices and folks are gonna nickle and dime away all their CC happily unlocking all the neat stuff they collected.

Yeah, unlock costs seem totally arbitrary and random. I have no idea what the logic is behind them. It’s super annoying.

I noticed on the stream the other day his unlock cost was 1cc. That was the thing I was most excited about sadly. (Not that the other stuff wasn’t good.) I doubt that goes live though and I assume it’s just for testing purposes? It would be awesome if it actually happened though.

Less direct sells more RNG, bioware wants you to spend more and more get your credit cards ready 🙂

So does this mean we get one armor piece at a time, or can we still get the ‘lower part’ and ‘upper part’ boxes? If it’s one at a time then hoo boy this will be a slog to collect parts

So currentlly in a pack you get 2 rare items, a rep item, a comp gift, scrap, and an exp boost. 6 items. Now you will get 1 rare item and a comp gift. How is that better? Before in a hypercrate you had 49 chances (platinum pack included with that count) to get “that rare item you are hunting for.” Now you have 30. How is that more? Also does this mean the cartel certs are going away? They don’t seem to be in the packs. I like the certs, but I would be pissed if I got a cert and a comp gift. The price of a crate better drop by more then half or I won’t be buying them anymore. Most of that stuff I sell on the GTN to make credits to buy what I don’t get. Now it looks like it won’t be worth it.

I don’t understand the two items per pack thing. Granted, it was a pain dealing with the fluff from other packs, but that fluff was usually comp gifts or XP boosts.

If they are going that direction, they might as well just make it 1 item per pack. But I digress.

Also, with this new availability for all items, that’s going to really impact their value in credits. But, then again, as new items come out, the pool of available items in those bronze/silver/gold packs becomes larger, thus lowering your chances of getting the item you want… so I suppose that could technically cause the value of items to go up as well.

They just like to change the problems, not fix them, because they make money doing this random draw on crates. They’re basically exploiting the human trait called hope. Everyone who buys crates has hope that they will be lucky and get that one item when they buy a crate, most of the times it doesn’t and won’t happen. It’s basically gambling but you never win anything of real value even if you do get what you want; which makes it really suck when you don’t get what you want from a crate.

This is about the kneel or not kneel options in THE FIRST chapter. Since bioware is the master of different outcomes (red, blue, green) and etc. I am pretty sure that it will not matter what you chose. I am pretty sure that the emperor will be like. “LOL YOU REALY THOUGHT THAT I WOULD SHARE THIS WITH YOU??? LOOOOOOOOOOOL”

ARCAN ” LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL”
VAILYN ” LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL”
The zakuul troops ” LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL” *choir*

Valtrollion ” Now Dieeeee! ” *Lighteng*

Spoiler alert!!!!

Arcann will kill Valkorion after you choose something, so your choice doesnt really matter

I only buy subscription when I know what I am buying it for: no limit on credits, faster leveling, more credits/items from quests, saves time. I do not buy these crates since I don’t know what I am getting. Why not when a crate comes into rotation you get to pick what you want to buy! Then when it is not in rotation people can try their luck on getting a more expensive piece for less. People would be much more happier with this system I would think. If the crate is so good then people would buy up the whole crate. I’d purchase things from the CM if I knew what I was getting even if the prices were higher. Then it would make sense to have the current purchase for collection unlock as well.
And where is the mount warfare! Some mounts should be able to shoot and do damage!

And no discounts on those of us that subscribe to the game. Yeah I get it that we get our 500/month. We are still forking out more than F2P, and other F2P games with this similar model also allot for discounts to members.

Of course, I’m still waiting and holding my breath on the CE vendor too with its updates…

they really should give a bigger wallet for prefs, you can seriously buy nothing with 350k,
people sell escrows and ops/warzone passes for 1mil in gtn.

Well that is F2P accounts, I am referring to sub accounts. The sales of the escrow and things are just ridiculously stupid, as the F2P can’t hold as much as nitwits are asking for.

yeah crafting was fun, we will miss that :/
and I meant pref accounts not f2p, pref is people like me that dont sub because i dont really play 20 days a month so it doesnt worth it yet I buy item from CM

People trying to sell escrows for 1 mil are absolute idiots. The only people that buy them can’t pay that.

The main problem you guys face as preferred and f2p is that your cash caps don’t increase with inflation, meaning over time your max limit becomes more and more useless.

yup, that’s exactly what I think, for example when I started to play in early 2013 a weekly ops pass used to cost 100k, now it cost 1mil

problem will now be that you buy a gold pack and the inventory of items keeps getting larger, before you could at least be in the ballpark for the item you wanted, now you may get something from a pack you could care less about.

so let me clarify something. instead of having 6 items in a pack where you’d get couple of armors, maybe a mount, a toy and miscellaneous buff with some jawa junk… you now get one item and a a gift? are they reducing the cost of packs too? or are they keeping cost the same while giving us less and claiming that its because they are “improving” how packs work… by making them more expensive essentially?

>The Collections interface will now start out automatically collapsed.

Gotta admit that this is a +1 for me. The rest sounds more confusing to me than what we have currently.

Two items per pack is buuuuuuuuuuuulllllshiiiiiiieeet. They better reduced the cost of the packs greatly. Think you can rob us blindly. Tf is that. Anyhow not that I would buy those packs since they kinda make a deco box from bronze to gold. Now I can rest easily knowing more then half I’ll keep.

With that said….. The rest of the changes sound nice… Specially the search bar. Hated skimming through every item or list.

Also!!!!!!, 1 credit item will be removed and added in embargo packs or w/e….

Economic change in coming. People will be stacking those up and resell them on gtn like crazy in launch… Not like they aren’t doing it now but this time a straight faster way to obtain them isn’t anymore.

I’ll be happy with the decoration packs. They are too rare in the current packs and I so done with have half my cargo filled with unsellable cartel items. Pricing will be all but I think it will be better this way for me.

Can you put in whole armor sets into the packs. Like still release some of the special gear individually but like make it like a .01% drop that someone will get the entire armor set in a box.

“In the case of our Super Rare and Ultra Rare items, there was no visual distinction on the item itself to indicate the difference in rarity, which was understandably confusing.”
Now there is a difference.

I didn’t even know there was something like ultra-rare.

The same, never even saw explanation. All I know was rare the to the fact people were complaining for getting shit items from the platinum box from a hyper crate. Guess we can classify those “rare” items as bronze. Anyhow the only thing appealing from any box are the decoration boxes, for me at least.

I’ve only ever unsubbed from this game for like three weeks, and during that time is when the game went F2P and handed those out. I’m still sad about it.

So, make everything harder to get, remove the amount of items in a pack and completely fuck over the players who’ve paid good money to access the reputation vendors only to now demolish them. Fuck you Bioware. Fuck. You.

Benjamin Gimson! Such language! Well, I never…

Write the nice men at BioWare a letter and give your opinion politely or you’ll be grounded and will lose your computer for a week, young man!

…how exactly did they ‘demolish’ reputation vendors? All they said is that they’re removing non-reputation items from them.

Precisely; removing most of the items on the vendors, after people have paid stupid amounts of money to get their rep up for the items offered by said vendors. So now all that money has just been pissed away. Nothing we buy in this game is safe and it’s fucking irritating.

This CM blog is the single most obvious and shitty cash-grab they’ve done to date.

All they’re getting rid of is the NON-reputation items that they vend.

Also, no MMO is forever. All that money that was pissed away? Was pissed away a LONG time ago, if a galaxy far, far away.

Which is a lot of items, and the main reason why MANY people put in the money to be able to have access to those items. They’re taking away something people have paid lots of REAL money to access. Is it really so hard to understand why people are pissed off? Why should people continue to spend money to get things that BW might randomly decide to take away whenever they decide they want to milk even more out of people? Because that’s why they’re doing this, and it’s wrong on every level.

As for your second point; totally and utterly irrelevant.

We’ll have to see, because if you need rep with that vendor to get the item, then it sounds like it’s staying.

But to be fair, I don’t spend a lot of time going through those vendors, so I don’t remember there being much available that didn’t need rep to buy?

Anyway, sorry.

Example: Right now the Marka Ragnos armor set can be bought from vendor for I believe 2 certs per item, or you can pay millions on the GTN. I won’t have the option to get it from the vendor now. If I decide I want a part of it in the future I will have to pay possibly millions for it even though I PAID to unlock the vendor for it.

Okay, I looked around last night, and … it looks like you guys are correct. I’m not sure I’d call it ‘demolishing’ the rep vendors, but there is a good chunk of stuff that’ll disappear.

Hopefully they’ll roll out more items for those in the future, but for now I’d have to say that’s the ONE change coming that’s crap. Sorry, guys.

If I am reading this correctly that means stuff like satele and malgus holostatues, revan’s mask, the throne, hoverchair, kolto tank. You know, the only shit on the reputation vendors actually worth buying. But you will still be able to purchase the ugly ass non-legacy armors on them for cheap.

Current hypercrate: 50 items + comp gifts + a bunch of junk.
New hypercrate: 30 items + comp gifts + a bunch of junk.

The only way this works out in our favor is if:
a) Prices on packs and crates are reduced 40%
b) Number of available items is cut in half and drop rates are normalized (IE not getting 12 pieces of orbalisk armor for every piece of havoc squad armor).

We know b is never going to happen. a) acutally makes more sense as 30 bucks for a hypercrate is much more digestable than 50. But I wouldnt hold my breath.

All of these “grand packs” kind of destroys the market for people like me who like to hoard things for 6-9 months until they become rare and then make a nice profit on them, only to see them plummet when a bunch of full armor sets flood the gtn.

But if the market is suddenly flooded with a bunch of satele’s boots i won’t complain.

Sounds OK if prices are adjusted to the fewer items..

One thing. I have several chairs in my cave … ermm…termple, yes, I mean temple but I can’t actually sit on any of them. or the couches, or beds.

Seems a bit odd.

You can “cheat” sitting on stuff. Just stand in front of a chair / couch and type /chair in chat, and you’ll play sitting emote (there are 3 different sitting animations and they play at random). Same with /sleep and beds.

“Two items per pack – Each pack now only has two items in it. One item will be from the bullet above, a mount or some other “bigger” item. The other item slot will be a Grade 5 rare or artifact level Companion gift.”

So really only one item per pack. Does anyone buy these hoping to get a companion gift? No.

Lame.

30 packs in the new crates. Every grade 5 gift sells for at least 6K, usually 8-10K or more (or a lot more for Weapon gifts). Let’s say 8K per gift. If you sell all your gifts, that’s 240,000 credits. Not a bad return, especially when you got 30 blue/purple quality items as well, and no WZ or GSF boosters.

How is it better because you can sell 6 more gifts from a crate? It doesn’t make up for the extra gear you could sell from the current crates.

So you are losing about 75?? items from a crate and gaining 6 companion gifts. If selling some items on the GTN I don’t see how that is better. Remember alot of those 1 pack items are going to have garbage armor/mounts.

Apparently, EA/Bioware are engaging in an experiment: see how far they can take the Star Wars label into the crapper with bad gameplay, total lack of endgame and shafting the player base – before they actually manage to turn Star Wars (of all things) into a money-loser.

For Science!

My issue with them is that they put so much time into things that should not be changed instead of putting that time elsewhere. And when they do make changes some is for the better but alot is for the worse.

I don’t buy packs very often, but I do occasionally. Not anymore. There’s no way I’m forking out cash for 1 item (likely a belt or a wrist armor piece of shiz, as others have mentioned,) and a silly companion gift. Are you kidding me, Bioware?

Pretty much this. Unless they cut single pack price by half (or thereabouts) I see quite a sizeable fall in pack sales.

If packs are about 125-150cc, HCs 3500c-4000c and superpacks 750-850, it might work.

individual packs should actually be under 100 cc, and the HCs and superpacks scaled to reflect that. there is no feasible reason to pay 100 ccs or more for one item and one companion gift. no item is worth that.

If that’s the case a pack will be more accessible, but much less fun. I’ve always collected pets, for example, and it was always a pleasant surprise to get one of the newly released pets in a pack or for a very reasonable price on the GTN. Now, either I have to buy a pack and hope that I am getting one of the few I don’t have, (not likely at all,) or pay an inflated price on the gtn because you now have to buy a specialty pack for pets. I don’t buy the “simplifying” explanation. This is an attempt to generate more cash. Maybe if the pet packs are 10 cartel coins each, but we know that won’t be the case. 1 pack = 1 pet, right? I honestly wish they would just stick with their original model.

Yeah, GTN prices on armor, mounts, etc will probably come down, but prices for pets, etc will go up. I can’t see alot of people buying Grand pet packs, etc.

Probably the end of my pack purchasing days…..but hopefully they have more direct sales as they seem to be suggesting. Seems like they are making the packs even more convoluted….better Collections search options were definitely needed but their pack changes sound like lateral moves, at best, rather than improvements.

I see that Bioware’s finally decided to do something about that annoying “Too much money, too many customers” problem. Well done, Bioware!

/sarcasm

I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was 12 (Thank you, Timothy Zahn 🙂 ) and for a long, long while, the only thing keeping me attached to this stale, stagnant MMO was the “Star Wars” label. Well, it seems that enough prolonged bad decision-making by Bioware can overcome even that. I’m out, and done with Bioware for good.

so…. all the changes to the actual game arent why youre leaving – its the cartel market changes which you dont have to use if you choose not to. Mmhmm.

I have played this game almost non-stop since early access. I STILL haven’t done all the content that can be done, so what the hell are you talking about stagnant and stale. Also, I read Courtship of Princess Leia when I was 10, and completed my first play through of Tie Fighter and Dark Forces when I was 9. If your trying to demonstrate that your a bigger Star Wars fan than the rest of us, you are doing a poor job. You are definitely wrong about Bioware they have done a great job with their Star Wars titles, and I am sick of the unfounded complaints.

So we here at EA/bioware have are devs focus on mainly the cartel market and shitty ideas about how you idiot players can spend your money on junk novelty items instead of creating quality content and sell at a reasonable price which would make us way more money in the long run and build and continue to build a new player market, that’s just not our style here at bioware.

And further more Susan we wouldn’t be surprised to learn all the devs habitually smoke marijuana cigarettes!!!! Reefers

Everyone uses bongs, water pipes and vaporizers now.
Nothing wrong with SWTOR content, the truth is there a lot of entitled players that think they know how to make a better game. Truth is that they haven’t the slightest clue, all they (you) do is complain and use other games ideas to justify your displeasure. If other games are better, why are you on here complaining about the (non) lack of content?

You know, this is what Dutch call “to make a elephant out of a musquito”. Out of all the content showed, teased and explained, you come to the one article about Cartel info to bash?

So a few cosmetic changes, and a lot of improvements.

It’ll be interesting to see how/if they change the prices on existing packs – I suspect they will to some degree. Not sure if I get all the ragequit I’m seeing in here though. What gives?

So no more Jawa junk then ? or certs ? Am I missing something? I get the clean up of the interface and so on, but I make good credits selling stuff on the GTN, and i see a dark cloud over my head now lol. I will wait to see the changes but this might be the end of buying Cartel packs for me.

And so will EA/BW, since ALOT of the people buying the packs are doing it to sell stuff on the GTN.

Also what does this mean?
We will add other item types as well, but only when they are high-demand items.

It means if it isn’t armor, a mount, a decoration, or a toy – it probably won’t be in a pack.

UNLESS they think it’s going to be a VERY popular item, like the upcoming Combat Companions due to be released with the new expansion.

What happened to reading comprehension? Is that still a thing??

The Market wasn’t updated…again. That’s it…I quit!

Ah, who am I kidding. I can’t you, SWTOR.

What happens to Cartel Market Certs and Jawa junk and stuff as well as XP buffs, will they still drop in packs?

There was an update to this:

Hey folks,

Based on a lot of the feedback we have been seeing I noticed I missed a few details in the blog.

– Any existing pack in your bank/inventory will not be affected by any of these changes.

– Armor Sets from the Monthly Cartel Packs will come in 3 lootboxes (Upper, Lower, Auxiliary).

– Bronze, Silver, and Gold Armor Packs will contain full armor sets.

– The new Shipment will not have a reputation associated with it.

– Any item that was specific to a reputation (aka not available in a pack) will continue to be available for purchase from the associated Reputation vendor.

– Reputations from previous Shipments will still be made available through the packs on the GTN and Grand Shipment Packs that will return the the market from time to time.

As with all things Cartel Market, things are subject to change based on your feedback.

So for reputation in packs that we are missing our only chance is going to be grand shipment packs now? That sounds much more expensive but probably still cheaper then the 5+ million people are asking per Stronghold packs on the GTN.

I don’t think they will be doing the pack rep anymore. If need rep you will have to get it when all the previous packs are released in a couple weeks.

Maybe they can make the actual Rep items GTN-able? I’d sure like to hope so; I have a couple of Reputations maxed out and I’d hate to end up with nothing to show from a “Grand” pack except a couple hundred credits for an item that I could only vendor.

It’d be nice if you could trade in your unused nightlife event certificates towards a pack containing reputation items, since almost all of the rewards for that event look like shit.

What does that mean regarding the collections? Will I be able to buy e.g. Ajunta Pall or Satele Shan armor set straight outta Cartel Market? I’d rather pay 10€ for the whole set than 50 million Galactic Credits for only one piece of armor set.
N.B. (The prices on The Progenitor server GTN for some armor sets are outrageous).

I would be nice if they’d do a decorations pack, I get plenty of armor and don’t know what to do with it, but the rare decorations never seem to drop.

That’s how it should work but I’ve had hypercrates with only trash armor before and no rares. I actually had one last spring that was nothing but the lower parts of armor sets.

Which is when I stopped buying hypercrates. :p

It would be nice. Oh wait, its in the original post that they are. Guess that problem is solved.

“For the main categories we will be releasing Bronze, Silver and Gold packs for each one! The categories for these packs are as follows:Armor Decorations Mounts”

Sorry, I meant the grand packs that will have the stuff from older packs included. I’m excited for the decorations packs. This is why I shouldn’t post while tired.

Thank god collections is starting collapsed now.

It’d still be nice if they added a search feature so I can find one of the many armor sets I have without finding the page it’s on.

Only thing I’m disappointed in is the reduction to two items per pack. I get why but there’s nothing i like more than buying a hypercrate and not having enough room in my max slot inventory for it. Oh wait I hate that? Nevermind.

Great news! They are adding a search feature as well as filters for owned/not owned. For some reason its not in the swtor post regarding CM changes (e.g. this page)… but dulfy did cover it when they mentioned it in the latest kotfe livestream coverage page. It has the below statement with some screenshots showing it.

“Collections window now collapse everything by default when you open it. You can now filter items and search items in collections.”

Will the Cartel Market offer items that were previously available only through promotions? That would be great.

The best thing to happen to the cartel market, is to get rid of the cartel market as it is now. Or I should say, get rid of the gambling packs. Those are beyond horrendous and shows the true face of EA in every ugly way imaginable.

Agreed. It encourages a horribly addictive behavior that is best left to scummy places like Casinos and the like.

dont get rid of the cartel market it’s brings more money than the old subscription only, they have to keep it to keep the game running.
i agree the gambling packs should be removed, pretty sure there are laws about gambling, the rare items should have a much higher drop rate

yes lets remove it 🙂

very next day huh where is swtor

EA : we have shutdown swtor as it didnt make the money we wanted.

All you people think the level sync thingy is bad? Its not that bad. You wanna know what’s bad? You can’t see darth marr’s face..i mean wth right? Bet you guys really need want to see whats under the mask. Dont lie to yourself. Not to mention rancor companion ! That shyt aint coming people and you guys complaining about level sync. Mehhhh just mehhh

You will never see his face. A off committed suicide after seeing his face. His bio clearly says that his face is in horrible state. They won’t remove one of his traits to please fans.

“You can now purchase collection unlocks on the character that originally unlocked the item.”
Does this mean legacy unlock for access to all myAnd by purchase… Is that CC or creds?

CC and you can already unlock your purchases but not with the character who has the unlock. That’s the upcoming change.

“Based off of that feedback we will be reverting the change to the reputation vendors.”

Thank fuck. Can’t put into words how relieved I am at this. And bravo for BW actually responding to feedback.

With all these random packs and collection they should reduce the chance of dropping stuff you already own.

Imagine if this game lives to a decade, one of these packs will never give you what you wanted and instead you get the same thing over and over that nobody wants to buy.

” A man van have anything… If he’s willing to subscribe for it”

Lets see how gtn will react to these sale.

“Man Van”?
Is this, like, the manliest van ever? Full of beer, hunting rifles, and posters of half-naked women? Or is this a group of men forming up like transformers to become a giant van? Either way, if this thing goes on the Cartel market, I WANT ONE.

“Hey folks,

Thank you for all your feedback today. Based off of that feedback we will be reverting the change to the reputation vendors. We are still condensing down to a single vendor per reputation, but it will contain all items that are currently available on Live.”

Well at least they are listening. I think i should still better go and buy that Revan’s helm i have been wanting from the rep vendor just in case though…

“Two items per pack – Each pack now only has two items in it. One item will be from the bullet above, a mount or some other “bigger” item. The other item slot will be a Grade 5 rare or artifact level Companion gift.”

Great… but i bet they are still going to charge the same price for less stuff…. Believe it or not all the fluff, like XP boosts, was actually rather useful to sell. I have made quite a bit of money selling off the fluff from the packs.

Simple question: if i buy marka ragnos belt from reputation vendor, with cartel certificats, can i unlock this particular item to all my chars?

Yes you can, if you buy full armor set. (Helmet, Body Armor, Bracers, Gloves, Belt, Skirt and Boots). I have unlocked Darth Nihilus’ helmet that way, via reputation vendor.
