  • Chapter X
  • Small info about the new warzone (more in Feb)
  • Eternal Championship
  • Wrap Up

State of the Galaxy

  • Group content: Big thing for KoTFE is to make all the previous group content relevant again. We also added Star Fortress as new content for up to 4 players. We also revamped heroics. There are people who played all these content before and want ne stuff. At this point we don’t have anything to announce. While story/cinematics is our focus, we do want to add new group content in the game. We have discussions internally right now about it.
  • GTN Search: All the bugs should be fixed since yesterday. Needed live server info to fix this bug.
  • Events: We had some issues with events in December so we are running them again in Jan.
  • Guild Conquest Rewards: We have some scripts running today/tomorrow to give out rewards for those who haven’t received them yet.
  • Cartel Market: There has been lots of feedback about CM/packs. We will make a forum post in the next 2 weeks to outline the changes.
  • Any plans to add in new events? Don’t have anything to share right now. We have gotten good mileage with our current events.
  • New chapter should come every 4 weeks. Every chapter is tied to a game update. This is until the finale at Chapter 16.

Changes since Dec livestream.

  • Eternal Championship coming with Chapter 11 (instead of Chapter 10). It wasn’t ready yet.
  • Bowdarr coming with Chapter 11 as well.
  • Blizz recruitment mission will be coming with Chapter 10.

Chapter X

  • Coming Feb 11, continue your personal story.
  • Recruit a dangerous ally.
  • Make deadly decisions and face the consequences. One part of the consequence can be seen at end of the chapter while another part is further down the road.

Blizz recruitment mission (comign with Chapter X)

  • Meet Blizz and his all new Jawa crew on Hoth.

Crafting Update (coming with Chapter X)

  • Skill increase to 550
  • New craftable gear and mods (item rating 208). Existing crafting gear will be bumped up 4 levels each.
  • This will affect the augment MK levels (you will need to be 550 to craft the max level ones)
  • Old appearance will be coming back – War Hero stuff etc.
  • New materials
  • Mission re-organization
  • More info coming before end of Jan. It will be a very long forum post.

Class Balance Changes

  • We are debating if we should do small changes every month like we did last year or do big sweeping changes every few months. Would like to get community feedback which one you prefer.

Sub rewards

  • Sub by Jan 11 – unlock HK-55 companion recruitment mission in Chapter X
  • Sub by Feb 1 – 2 days early access, HK inspired jetpack

Nvidia Contest

  • Ends Sunday, use Shadowplay to record KotFE gameplay and submit.
  • Chance to win 3 gaming PCs, 10 GTX 960s.

New Warzone (more detailed info coming in Feb)

  • New warzone in the planet Odessen.
  • Gamemode will be King of the Hill.
  • Multiple hills, with hills randomly spawn in the map.
  • ETA for warzone release date will be revealed in Feb livestream. Release is not too far past that (within 6 months).
  • We will post when the next season starts soon.

Eternal Championship

  • Will it be too easy for veteran players? Yes and no.
  • Coming with Chapter XI. You will need to complete first 9 chapters to access it.
  • Solo challenge to test player skills. Meant to transition you from the story content into group content. You can do it solo or with friends but the weekly mission rewards are for soloing only.
  • 10 Encounters in Eternal Champion. First 5 encounters will be easy, allowing a broad group of players to get through. Last 5 encounters will be harder and Veteran players should feel satisfied finishing the last encounter.
  • Weekly mission reward progress. Right now we have 3 weekly missions – one for finishing first 5 encounter, another for finishing first 7, and last one for all 10 encounters.
  • We are taking feedback on what is the appropriate gear reward. Weekly reward for first 5 encounters maybe give solo flashpoint rewards and weekly reward for finishing all 10 encounter maybe you can get operation level gear.
  • In addition to the weekly mission rewards, there will be rare drops to some of the encounters.
  • Recruit the wookie gladiator: Bowdaar. If you can complete the harder encounters you can get him faster.

Gear Rewards from Eternal Championship | 01.14.2016, 10:54 PM

Hey folks,

One of the things Ben mentioned on the live stream, is that the dev team is looking to get some feedback regarding rewards from the Eternal Championship. Currently there are weekly quests for defeating 5, 7, and 10 encounters. Here is what Ben was looking for:

  • What level of gear should be rewarded for clearing 5 encounters?
  • What level of gear should be rewarded for clearing 7 encounters?
  • What level of gear should be rewarded for clearing 10 encounters?

Feel free to answer by comparison (this should drop gear similar to a HM Flashpoint) or in Item Rating.
Thanks everyone.

  • Ahmet Yılmaz

    Reserved :D

  • dfbirdg

  • dfbirdg

Why are there players who have already a HK-55 companion right now?!

    • Ahmet Yılmaz

      SPOILERS!!!!!!!

HK-55 dies. and the people who verify will get him again.

      • dfbirdg

        I thought I tried this… but maybe I’m wrong.

    • Razzy

Double check, you might be seeing HK-51

      • dfbirdg

Nope. It’s not 51. Nor is it a skin for 51.
I focused the companion and it says HK-55.

        • Nanas Creampie Recipe

They never finished the KotFE chapters where he dies. If he doesn’t die, you can keep him out.

You can do the same thing with Darth Marr.

Just don’t complete the missions where they die and you can keep them. However, you won’t progress with those characters.

          • Danny Seth

Downside is, Marr will be the only companion you will have. And probably the extra comps you maybe unlocked like HK-51, Treek and Nico.

            • Darth Ji’inx

Actually, if you leave KotFE as soon as you get Marr, you keep your class companions as well :)

              • Danny Seth

                Oh, cool.

  • Liron Ben-David

no new content, arena on zakuul moved to chapter 11, crafting increased to 550. so game is going in bad direction.

  • F

What does “This will affect the augment MK levels” means?

    • Liron Ben-David

to craft maxed level augments you need 550 in crafting skill.

      • f

Don`t tell me we need to upgrade our accuracy, critical, alacrity augments etc. again….

        • Liron Ben-David

iirc it’s only for crafting new ones. it still will be mk8

          • Darth Gnaw

yeah, I was like, “whats the point in that???”

      • Gabdube

Can’t they just finally cap the damned gear inflation like they did with weapon color crystals? Do we really need cartel market augments for the gear system to stop being an ever-increasing stat madness ? It doesn’t make the game more fun or more challenging, only more time-consuming for no good reason.

  • The BroZone Layer

goddammit; someone musta spiked my koolaid with angel dust, mushrooms and acid…because surely i didn’t just read “New Warzone”.

    • ZapTheSheep

Yeah. They announced a new war zone would be coming. They also said ‘sometime in the next six months’.

  • Seph

What an epic waste of time.

    • dfbirdg

Don’t say you didn’t expect it to be.
      :)

      • Seph

        You got me there.

  • Desolaytore

So they are adding only one new Warzone and coping over the Brawler’s Guild.

  • Lyc

Unbelievably, they get paid for shovelling that shit

    • Gabdube

All corporate community managers get paid for shoveling shit. Their jobs are created specifically because there is shit that needs to be shoveled.

  • StinkyPie

How does a warzone on Odessen make any sense?

What people are fighting over the planet on one part, but the part where the story takes place is all peaceful Imps/Pubs working together?

    FFS BW

    • JRP

Maybe a warzone on Zakuul could be in the works? Would that be a good idea?

      • Dread Master Ozariah

Fight between republic and Empire on zakuul? yeeeeeah suuuuuure.

      • Gabdube

Giradda the Hutt and Baron Deathmark already provide what is pretty much the best setting for PVP matches, aside from wargame simulations. The arena on Zakuul could also be a thing, roman Coliseum style.

    • LogicLoup

Perhaps the new WZ will be framed as a wargame/training exercise, rather than actual interfaction conflict?

    • Jason Long

You don’t know where the rest of the chapters are taking Odessen yet. By the time the WZ arrives the story will have changed.

    • Seph

We will take ANYTHING at this point. And we are barely getting that.

      • pvp player

PvP are scambags who think the world revoles around PvP.They do nothing for the game but just bitch

    • Saihah

      Could be a wargame.

    • Gabdube

TBH all the warzones that aren’t wargame simulations don’t make much sense.

  • Dawg2006

Ya this stream was very disappointing! Not that I was expecting much…

  • AbnerDoon

And we will call them MK-10’s.

    • Shawn Hargrave

      lmao!

  • Arnold Garada

The live stream does meet the expectations (assuming they are 50 ft below the ground). What is really funny when they consider balance patches in 3.0 as frequent. There were only two balance patches and they were like 2-3 month apart. What a bunch of idiots over at BW..

    • Shawn Hargrave

it is kinda odd to have streams about nothing isnt it lol seems like the point of this video was in feb come back for now meh

    • AdjeYo

“Small” changes, like how they made sorcerer healers from good pvp healers to the only choice in pvp healers. And how they nerfed hatred sins through the ground, if that is their idea of small changes I shudder at what they consider big sweeping changes.

  • Kiri

“Old appearance will be coming back – War Hero stuff etc.”

    THANK FUCK FOR THAT

  • John Kosto

The only thing that scares me is to have to craft an approximate amount of 200 augment kits AND 200 augments for my toons… but I doubt crafting will change that much that augments lvl 208 will become obsolete.

And I just realized that my expectations for the changes in this game have become dependant on “things that will scare me” instead of “things that will excite me”

  • xking5v

wonder if rakata and others are included in the “old appearances coming back”

    • Kiri

that’s probably what it is. I wouldn’t bet against the class specific looks also, like the sith acolyte and apprentice looks, for example.

    • sumdume

At least some Rakata is already back. Veda Force Expert is the same look as the Jedi Sentinel Rakata gear. I know there’s also a craftable version of the Commando Rakata.

  • Shawn Hargrave

no new group content were just sitting around thinking about it lol /smh WOW.

    • dfbirdg

“…but we gave you old Flashpoints and boring Starfortesses, be happy!
Well, we know going Flashpoints via GF is now the hell, because you get lowlevels that can’t do them, even if they are good players, but, we don’t care. You ran Blood Hunt in Hardmore before 4.0 and did it – and now you wipe at the Tacical version because we are lazy and only threw in some heling stations. But we got better things to do, like delaying Storycontent we already announced for Chapter X. We are Bioware!”

      • Shawn Hargrave

lol yeah that was there big point then they say well were sitting around thinking about it while you have these to run a million times over still out of boredom hehe

      • Gabdube

The flashpoint issue could be fixed by temporarily giving bolstered players the abilities amd passives they lack. But no, devs want to make gameplay skill utterly irrelevant by making it impossible for a better new player to achieve better results than a worse older player. If we really wanted skill to matter in an mmo (save for the minority of pvp/rndgame content that only a minority really does anyway), we wouldn’t design the game around rewarding you solely for grinding.
In a game that values skil, a better player would and should beat a worse player, regardless of their “level” or the time they spent grinding for the clothes they are wearing.

  • Ben Gimson

    Meh.

  • bee’sniffer

in terms of what level of gear should drop from the eternal champ bosses.. i think it should all be level 1. it shouldnt be modded gear at all, it should just be unique empty shells.Whats the point of dropping OPS gear for something totally unrelated to ops…

    • Laz

To play Devil’s Advocate a bit, on the other hand, what’s the point of dropping Ops gear in the Ops themselves, when by the time you’ve got the gear, you’ve already finished the content that it’s for?

      • AdjeYo

Because you get the 216 gear from storymode, to do hardmode, and then you get the 220/224 gear to do nightmare mode. It’s not like you need 216 gear for story mode operations.

        • Danny Seth

But people also want to do hard mode flashpoints without dying. Plus,
you’ll need good gear to defeat the 10 levels of the eternal championship. Good
gear isn’t exclusive to ops. Every bit of stat increase eases your day-to-day
          gameplay experience.

          • AdjeYo

Well yes, but 208 gear is just fine for any of the purposes you mentioned. Now I’m not saying I’m completely against reasonable gear drops here, but I think 208 gear should be fine, or maybe 216 gear (unoptimized without setbonus that is)

            • Danny Seth

We don’t know how hard the final encounter could be and what gear rating we’ll need, but they said it will be pretty rough. If 216 is enough, all the raiders would complain it’s like in a walk in the park.

              • AdjeYo

Can be made sort of difficult mechanically rather than just requiring more and dealing more damage. But as they said it’s mostly aimed for people to go from solo content to group content, so it’s probably not going to be very difficult. Maybe some 216 optimised gear could drop on higher difficulties, but I’d rather not have them dropping set bonus or anything higher rated.

              • Gabdube

This. So much this. Mindless stat inflation being the core of ALL the gameplay is one of the things that irks me the most about themepark MMOs based on WoW’s ridiculous gearing system.
Why can’t people copy games like Eve Online instead? The thing has been going strong for more than a decade by strictly doing its own thing and not giving two shits about what every other mmo was doing.

        • Eve

So the reason for it is so you can run on a treadmill without the exercise?

          • AdjeYo

You do content so you can get gear so you can do harder content, that’s basically what endgame progression is in most mmorpg’s.

            • Gabdube

Yes, and it is a major source of stat inflation. There are also many better and more original ways to implement content progression than to make 99% of your character’s power come from the clothes he/she is wearing.

  • iceberg265

    Pathetic.

  • AdjeYo

“This will affect the augment MK levels (you will need to be 550 to craft the max level ones).”
Please don’t make me craft new augments for all my toons again :/

    • dfbirdg

I think (hope) augments (max MK-8) we already have will stay…

  • Seph

    This stream made me sad…

  • Matt Man

eternal championship reward? how about a MAINHAND PVE DROP????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR

    • James

It is hard. You should quit the game because you complain to much . Cry baby

    • BrianDavion

at least we';ll be able to craft 208 hilts now, instead of praying for one to drop in a FP

      • AdjeYo

Buy offhands from commendation vendors and reverse engineering for schematics

        • BrianDavion

wasn’t aware you could do that.

          • SupRun

The reason you didn’t know is because you can’t obtain a MH hilt schematic from REing an OH hilt. Not anymore, anyway.

            • BrianDavion

yeah I coulda sworn I checked on my artifacer back in the day

              • SupRun

A lot of people took advantage of that not being the case for the first part after 4.0, so there are a bunch of people with 220 barrel/hilt schematics instead of just a few like usual.

              • guest

I dont know what you guys are doing different or if what you are mentioning is specific to 216’s, but I RE’d a 220 vers hilt schem from a 220 com offhand saber not more than a week ago after sending it over to my artificer via legacy gear, and the stuff I craft from that schem works in either main or offhand. Why would you want a 216 schem anyway crafting anything 216 is just a waste of mats.

              • SupRun

I was just using 216 as an example. I’d check your schematic again, I’ve had multiple people RE the OH hilts/barrels and they are bound to OH.

              • guest

re checked yesterday and even bound a hilt I had crafted. works fine on 2 different artificers. I’ve never seen separate schematic for offhand before and everything on GTN seems to be the same description Curious thing for them to do and pointless anyway as 60% RE chance makes it pretty common to craft. even back before 4.0 when you had to get an ops drop for the resolve hilt, as soon as the first person got it all you had to due was keep buying/trading for stuff made by that person until you got the schem.

        • SupRun

They broke that; that is, if you RE a 216 offhand barrel, you will only be able to craft an offhand barrel, not a mainhand one

          • Holyfrog

That is not broken. That is working as they intended. You shouldn’t be able to RE a mainhand from an offhand it defeats the purpose of MH/OH.

            • SupRun

Originally, when 4.0 dropped, people could RE the 220 barrels/hilts and get general schematics (not strictly mainhand or offhand) so I guess you could say they fixed it. I was just pointing out AdjeYo’s method of trying to obtain a 216+ hilt for a mainhand (I’m assuming it’s a mainhand since you can buy offhand from vendors) is impossible.

      • http://www.mibreviews.com The Man in Black

By the time you’ve done all of the Star Fortresses, you should have several.

  • Danny Seth

The most disappointing thing for me in this stream, is that it confirmed Bioware’s laziness in terms of companions. There are 7 companion missions datamined for some time ago… When they announced Bowdaar, I had my hopes up that he was just the first to be announced, and the rest will be hinted or something… But moving Blizz instead of Bowdaar means they will only realease ONE mission a month, which actually means we will never have our whole crew reunited, like they warned us when we unlocked them on Odessen… that you can wait and they will be unlocked with the story. Not in this expansion, anyway… It is very disappointing to know they had so much time since launch, and they didn’t do anything new. You’d think since all the story is already written and outlined and probably already complete, they would have time to add simple recruitment missions with Kotor-style dialogue…

    • xking5v

i never heard 1 companion a month come out of there mouth m8, and the fact that this chapter includes kaliyo and blizz you already wrong

      • Darth-Robin

he means 7 comp missions by alliance alert fool not the ”story” and we may get kaliyo with chapter 10 doesnt mean chapter 11-16 will be other old comps it could very well be that those other chapters will have new comps that we might not like.

        • xking5v

well my point still stands, never did that come out of their mouths, am i wrong ? and don’t call people “fools” show some fucking respect. i could make my point with out insulting people you can too

          • Holyfrog

Maybe if you hadn’t used “fucking” in your call for respect you would have actually been making a good point. As it is you basiclly shot yourself in the foot.

      • Danny Seth

You mustn’t hear it, you must use your brain to figure it out. And no, I wasn’t wrong since most people understood I meant the 7 comp alliance missions, not the story. And don’t be so sure Kalyo’s a keeper. They said the choices will have an impact at the end of the chapter… As Kalyo is a terrorist attacking innocent citizens and targets of Zakuul, I don’t think Koth will be a big fan of her ways. I believe one of them must go.

The fact is we are still missing 28 companions. Without the planned ones, 22 companions are still missing in the overall story. A few will probably be added to the story, but It’s obvious they don’t plan on returning romanceable companions, since people asked for meaningful reunions, not just simple dialogue. That is the laziness I am talking about, you have to figure it out they won’t release 27 companions in the remaining 6 chapters.

        • GabDube

Kaliyo is a romanceable companion, and so is Pierce, to some extent. At least some romanceables are indeed coming back. Maybe not all of them, and maybe not in the way some people would fancy the most, but it’s Bioware telling the story. Not us. We play a character, not an entire galaxy, and definitely not our (former) companions.

          • http://sw-tor.cz Aries_cz

Actually, they did mention that all “full romance” characters (which does not include Pierce) will come back as “main story” characters (meaning fully voiced on both sides of the conversation, not the crappy “KOTOR-esque” style) eventually.

I can fully see chapter bringing back several at once, say Kira and Nadia (decision, decisions)

          • Danny Seth

Pierce is not romanceable. It’s a casual flirt and a one-night-stand, like a lot of npcs we meet planetary… no feelings, no romance. If you read Kalyo’s mail, she’ll be pretty indifferent to the agent, will probably brush you off pretty fast. So all we have it’s one bitter romanceable companion…

And if we play that character in Bioware’s story, we all know the past is important.

        • Holyfrog

Yes give me ALL the companions! I can only use 6 at a time but I gotta have all of them! What is there like 57 comps total?

          • Danny Seth

I think 54 if you count the 4 licenced pets and dead Marr. But hey, the more, the merrier. And I don’t want them for crafting, I want a big team by my side for story’s sake. The galaxy’s best. And when all this is done, we’ll throw a big party in my stronghold.

          • Danny Seth

61 if you include dead Marr and the 4 licensed creature/droid companions that have nothing to do with the story. I do want to have the best people in the Galaxy in the Alliance I am leading, story-wise, I don’t plan to use them for crafting. At the end of it all, we could all throw a party in my stronghold, that would be a wonderful portrait… all the important characters in this game under one roof, united and ready for anything the Galaxy could throw at them.

    • Shawn Hargrave

coulda should woulda but i actually agree with you there

  • David W

Guess I better send my characters on gathering missions.

  • Darth-Robin

what i want to know is, will blizz alliance alert be for everyone that completed chapter 9 or is it gonna be gated by chapter 10 if its the former awesome, if its the later no thanks

    • David W

My personal guess is there will be some characters recruited in story and some between chapters. So given that we will need things to do between X and XI, quite possible it could be via an alert.

      • Darth Ji’inx

Seeing as how Bowdaar only requires Chapter IX, most likely that’s what Blizz will require.

  • dfbirdg

Let me guess, Bizz will now use a Electrostaff, right?

    • Hunterr

If they change it at all, go all out and give the lil guy an autocannon

      • Van’zan

Ok that would be funny. A Jawa with an autocannon.

        • Лев Сафаров

          It probably will be scaled.

          • DerpDude

I used the Bounty Hunter pistol (the 3 barreled from the BBA vendor) on Blizz….it didn’t get scaled…looked like he was running around with a huge rifle =)

            • http://sw-tor.cz Aries_cz

Well, to be honest, that gun is huge even on regular characters…

      • Darth Ji’inx

Skadge is getting an autocannon in the future.

  • Shawn Hargrave

one thing id like to discuss is the choices matter issue the last stream or before kotfe came out they said the same thing then there only 1 choice if any at all that matter and i feel quite good saying that about the future b/c the downfall of the story is everyone has the same story minus maybe 1 or 2 slight differences at best so whoever that was on the stream that asked that made a good point about that i dont buy this choices matter nonsense

    • Dawg2006

I was the one that said choices don’t matter. Don’t lie to us, and I stand behind what I said. So far the “choices” I’ve done didn’t really differ from the alt toon I ran through the story. My biggest problem is when your given the choice to use Valkorion’s power to help lana or she will die. I didn’t want her to die, so on my light side toon I chose to use his power only to find out when i ran it again and chose light that she didn’t die… I was furious that I chose a dark choice on my light sided toon, you know thinking that my “choices” matter. So far choices mean nothing and I still don’t believe them saying oh in chapter 10 you’ll have a big choice that will effect the story. Ya not buying it, Until I see proof I ain’t believing anything they say…

      • Shawn Hargrave

        agreed 100%

    • Gabdube

Choices do matter. But nobody said anything about the choices of choices. What people are asking for (but failing to express) is that they want more freedom of choice, amd thus more varied potential outcomes.
But that would get exponentially complex and inherently incompatible with the context of storytelling. You are playing a story that Bioware is telling. Not making up your own. Deal with it. Go play a sandbox game if you want freedom and agency.

      • Shawn Hargrave

I can only think of one time that the choice mattered. Yes you are right you cant have any type of choice when the story is the same story for all the classes. So why they continue to say choice matters lol is beyond me.

  • Bombancing

Yeah, make real balancing changes and don’t mess the classes up with a sledge hammer like you did by now.

Why do they even ask? The community already told them. Over and over again.

  • Secundum

I’ll just use my healer comp to tank Eternal Championship. =D (though full 224 should be enough).

    • Danny Seth

I have a feeling we’ll be alone there, no companions.

      • Skinnyadzy

        Hopefully

      • http://sw-tor.cz Aries_cz

They have to make it that way, otherwise, any “challenge” will be utterly meaningless (unless Chapter 11 bring some significant nerf to comps)

      • Secundum

Yeah, I have that feeling too. =( Still, a Marauder should be able to do just fine with all their defensive cooldowns. If we can wait between fights, we can start every fight with Bloodthirst, Beserk, and Undying Rage off of Cooldown.

  • Deshik

When you think about it. We are only 6 next chapters to the finale… Feels too fast.

    • Deshik

And thats why its 4 weeks per release…

      • Ryan Fitch

I like how you answered yourself.

        • Kaliyaa

split personality comes in handy at times.

    • BrianDavion

6 chapters until the end of season 1.

  • Havik79

Pause the video at 13:40, after Musco said about someone saying decisions don’t mean anything.
For the ignorant that is a gestural emblem , yes he is really is giving the camera the finger subconsciously.

    • George Castanza

    • Averzaath

This starts with the assumption he cares…

  • Al’arra

So the only new thing is an announcement that a content of Chapter X is to be delayed till Chapter XI. No, we really didn’t see that coming. As for new group content, they “unfortunately, right now, don’t have anything new to announce or talk about”, as they “just right now don’t have a plan with anything they could announce”. No, that was not really obvious to anyone who followed what’s been happening with SWTOR in the last year or so. Plus, of course, there was the mandatory announcement of a future announcement, this time re. a new W, as they cannot talk about it atm … which nobody really expected them to do, given their track record so far.So yeah, ty for letting us know you still take us for complete fools. Let me assure you, the feeling is mutual.

  • Лев Сафаров

    and want ne stuff.

  • Alex York

My personal issue with the game is that compared to other mmos there is not much to do at end game. Game definitely changed a lot from initial release, but a lot of parts of the game are outdated, like social system and valor systems are completely useless and provide no suitable rewards, game lacks in pvp department which is the only repeatable content that is not draggy and boring. You don’t have anything that resembles gear improvement like enhancement, gear is too easy to get so when you do you don’t feel any satisfaction. World pvp is dead, absolutely no interaction with other faction. There’s so much cool stuff you could do with the game, but bioware doesn’t have experience with mmos. I must give them credit where credit is due, story is indeed not bad, but it’s not rpg game like the ones they made before, it’s a mmo game in the first place but they seem not to understand that.

    • http://www.mibreviews.com The Man in Black

I just don’t see it. I don’t see how at least 30 ops (at least 10 ops available in 3 challenge levels), world bosses, obtaining maximum valor, etc., on 8 (actually more like 16) classes is not a lot of content. Hell, I spent months just working on one character just completing the Alliance content, and only stopped because my guild never seems interested in hunting World Bosses to get Qyzen. Which led me to completing Shadow of Revan, Ziost, and Knights of the Fallen Empire with another endgame character…

      • Gabdube

Because it is a lot of content. An overwhelming amount of content, even, if you’re a new player looking at the achievements tab. People who have actually done all that content, or at least all the content they enjoy, are either veterans with many years of subscription under their belt, or they are people with an incredible amount of spare time on their hands.

Either way, they exhausted the content of the game faster than the studio could keep churning out more. Unsubscribing is thus he most reasonable option for those in this situation, and the executives knew this would be a worthwhile sacrifice.

      • Gabdube

30 ops, and even more flashpoints. Now, imagine the sheer amount of hours required to obtain the “25 times” achievements for each one. No wonder almost nobody has those.

        • http://detoxravensquad.enjin.com Hache-Moncour

9 ops, or 23 if you count all the difficulty levels seperately. More than enough to do if you just reached endgame today. Not so much if you’ve been playing for four years already.
And achievements aren’t really content. If they added an achievement for doing all FP 100 times that doesn’t mean we suddenly have four times as much content. There’s only so many times you can do the same thing before it ceases to be game content.
I’ve always enjoyed all parts of the game, and there used to be more content than I could do. It has slowed down year on year though, so in 2014 I caught up with most of the stuff I hadn’t done before, and in 2015 it got to the point where I only had some ocd completionist stuff left like the more obscure achievements, and that supply is running low too, and I’ve mostly got the really insane ones left.
I have some hope for things like the Eternal Championship and Star Fortresses. If they add something like that every few months that would help a lot in keeping busy while waiting for new ops. New pvp map also sounds promising, the random spawn element could help making it more varied.
I’m not joining the “we’re all doomed” choir yet, but the content dry spell has been long and painful for the long-time subs. So far I’m still cautiously optimistic about Kotfe, if they keep up the pace with the chapters and related content for here on. Only time will tell.

        • Rushz

I had people in my guild with 100% ops and fp achievements prior to 4.0. (Yes, including ToS/Rav 8 and 16 hm)
We did the content that was given to us a lot of times but after a year of no new real content we’re pretty fed up

      • Alex York

If you play for couple hours a day then maybe. Achievements never interested me since in mmo games it’s impossible to do 100%. Ops are very repetitive, after doing each one about 10 times it became a drag since I’m not interested in pve. PvP lacks diversity and complete absence of interaction with other faction except some warzones is really stupid. Game has a lot of “gimmicks” that could’ve been handled much better for example being able to quickly change between sets of armor like pvp>pve vice versa. Bad gear progression, after getting the NiM gear there’s no point in doing ops until next gear ramp up saying that from my own experience. Economy in game is not fleshed out, I have no idea what can I also buy for credits instead of some new set that I like, having about 40mil and not being able to spend it because there’s nothing to spend it for. I’m sure the game gets better the less you play it, but that’s not how mmo should operate, or any game for that matter.

      • Danny Seth

Hey, just focus on getting the champs on that Highmount ridge area (look it up). There are around 7 targets that span relatively quick. All you have to do is kill 20 of them, shouldn’t waste more than an hour. A few days ago I went hunting and had the luck of joining a group for the 2 Hoth WB. So I only had to kill 6 more creatures.

        • http://www.mibreviews.com The Man in Black

Interesting. Very different from any other feedback about the single player version of the quest that I’ve heard. I’ll look into this.

          • Danny Seth

This is what I’m talking about, To climb the mountain, you have to come from the area on the right of this map, under the imperial outpost, there’s a mountain you can climb, which takes you to this nice secluded area. It was deserted that night, so the targets were everywhere. If there are others, same faction, you can try to group them, for faster fights. The champs are pretty easy to defeat.

      • Holyfrog

You don’t need kill WBs to get Qyzen. Just kill the smaller trophies. Just plan out a path and have a little patience for a respawn, and change instances when you kill the ones in the area you are hunting in.

        • http://www.mibreviews.com The Man in Black

Is there a path? Everybody that I’ve talked to about it says that you need to travel the entire map of Hoth and if you’re lucky one will show up.

          • ROCKING RED REAPER

No I know of a area on the mountain where I did it in less then a hour hardly had to wait at all they kept respawning after I beat them all cause there was so many

      • iceberg265

First off, you’re ridiculous if you think difficulty levels counts as different content. Second, sure if you are a new player there is a lot of stuff you can do. But for those of us who did all that stuff when it came out? It does not count.

      • Bryan

You don’t? Your argument is like trying to say that the fact that Cheers has 11 seasons and 275 episodes doesn’t make it a currently running show…. The argument is not amount of existing content, it’s new content. Some people can consume the same stale content forever and enjoy it, most can’t. Swtor has become so stale many people can’t stomach it anymore.

      • Dakit

Multiple characters running through same content over and over is not content. Alt’s are not content, they are a way to extend the play experience but that’s not the same as content.

Depending on the MMO, there should never be a reason to have an ALT, with a few exceptions.

As for SWTOR there was a reason to have 8 alts at launch, after 2.0 there was only a reason to have 2 alts, with KotFE there is no reason to have any alts.

Alts are not content, they are excuses.

    • Martin Longbow

you are wrong, they perfectly understand it. but that system did not work for them. the game ended up being a mediocre mmo. very few percent of the gamers were actually doing ops etc… they found out majority of the subs were here for star wars brand and bioware story telling. that is what they decided to go. now, I agree it is not a sustainable model but I also think the game does not have much life in it. because in both cases mmo or rpg, they will not increae their subs drastically

      • Gabdube

I find your lack of faith disturbing. No, really, the game is indeed a shitty MMO but a very good RPG otherwise.

It only makes sense to focus on what it’s actually good at instead of making more sub-par operations and warzones.
But to say the game doesn’t gave much life left is to underestimate and misunderstand the F2P business model. Subscription doesn’t even mandate new content of every type, and microtransactions even less so, since you pay to get something specific that is already there.
From a financial perspective, microtransactions have proven to effectively keep the industry afloat and cruising. The price of the change in budiness model is a change in development priorities and content delivery, which is what some people are butthurt about, but not mad enough to move on to a game that actually aims to provide the type of stuff they expect to get from their opinion of what all MMOs are or should be.

        • p4v7

No, it’s it’s sub-par RPG. If you don’t want to compare SWTOR to MMOs then we should compare it to actual RPGs. Now if we match SWTOR against Witcher or Fallout, I see a huge difference in quality and roleplay.

          • Kami3k

Fallout? LOL, Fallout 4 isn’t even an RPG or Fallout game. Only in name and setting.

            • Bryan

              Are you on crack?

              • Kami3k

NO Karma system, perks removed, dialogue system meaningless and zero depth.

        • Bryan

I would agree that the game was never a grade A MMO, better than what it is now but never top tier. I also agree that 1-50 was a fairly good RPG, 8 of them in fact. The expansions varied. RotHC was 1.5 OKish RPGs, SoR was 1 pretty good RPG. KotFE is a pile anyway it’s stacked.

Also if they wanted to turn the game into an RPG, great, do that, but get rid of the sub fee. The game isn’t an MMO and isn’t worth playing MMO premium.

    • mace windy

partially agree with you but there is enough to do at end game. That you don’t like to do it is a different thing than it not being there ;)

Operations, flashpoints, warzones, planetary heroics, planetary conquest. If you are feeling up for it you can even be a little crazy and go to solo hm flashpoints.

      Enough to do ;)

      • iceberg265

When you grinded those things into the ground years ago, they just do not count anymore. If you’re a newer player, then thats nice for you I guess. But for those of us paying their bills for 4 years now? There is nothing to do.

  • Alek

No new MMO content, no news on coming MMO content. 30-40min story content for 15$ per month is not worth it. After 4 years of subscribing that will be the end for me. If I wanted to I could do the 4 years old heroics as Preferred, only that I won’t feel obliged to log in at all (since I won’t be paying).

    • Gabdube

Best thing to do for older players like you is to take a break and come back once new content is in place, if ever.

If you log in a game because you feel obliged to instead of because you actually have fun playing the game, you might want to check your priorities.

      • Bryan

Best thing for old players to do is quit. Don’t kid yourself about taking a break, the game is on life support. It’s not getting any better than what it is now. If that’s not satisfying then it’s time to find a new game.

        • Dakit

I mostly agree, people should stop playing let the game die and wait for a new SW MMO, hopefully the next one wont make the same mistakes…if they can get new designers in that is, if it’s made by the same designers as most mmo’s these days it will be the same as all mmos in the last 10 years and the result will be the same.

    • http://sw-tor.cz Aries_cz

TIL that PvP is not MMO content…

    • manpower

FFS wake UP man, there is so much pvp, gsf, pve raids amnd heroic content which i am all happy to do that I EVEN DONT HAVE TIME TO START ZIOST not to mention kotfe! Wake up ppl and enjoy the immense world you are given!

      • ConcernedGuest

        Exactly!
But I’m still bothered by those many (minor) bugs around.

      • Alek

I’ve finished Ziost in April 2015 when it was released. The 9 KOTFE chapters I finished in November 2015, when they were released. The heroics you talk about were there at launch in 2011. Eternity Vault + Karagga’s Palace 2011. Explosive Conflict + Terror From Beyond 2012. Scum and Villainy 2013. Dread Fortress & Palace 2014.
        – Sorry for not being as excited for old content as you, but I’ve been playing since launch. 30-40 minutes long story chapter per month for me is not worth 15$.

        • John Kosto

DF and DP came out October 2013, and TOS & Rav in January 2015, in the meantime there was a lot of material like many flashpoints in story mode (Revan Prelude) and other things.

      • reverb

        you must be new here…

      • Bryan

I’ve done everything you listed when they are fresh. I’ve given swtor’s pvp a chance at least 4 or 5 different times, it never holds my attention for more than 2 months max at a time. Your argument is like responding to someone unhappy that a show cancelled and yelling “FFS wake UP man, theres 4 seasons and 42 episodes to watch” *eyeroll*

  • Martin Longbow

didn’t anyone ask, what will happen after the finale chapter 16? I have some hunch that they will shut down the game after that. it also explains their disinterest with any group content etc…

    • Gabdube

Shut it down while the game turns in a significant profit and while we would be anticipating the second movie of the new trilogy? That would be the most absurd and un-profitable thing for a game developer. EA, if not Disney, would absolutely destroy them if they were stupid enough to do that.

      • Martin Longbow

i think you are mistaken on significant profit part. they are paying a huge royalty to Disney and they let a lot of devs go recently. last Ea financial report does not even talk about swtor in terms of contribution. I bet revenue is not that good. also there is no relation between game and movie from financial perspective

        • mace windy

          Service and Other Revenue
For the three months ended September 30, 2015 , service and other revenue was $381 million , primarily driven by FIFA Ultimate Team, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Madden Ultimate Team. Service and other revenue for the three months ended September 30, 2015 decreased $73 million , or 16 percent , as compared to the three months ended September 30, 2014. This decrease was driven by a $144 million decrease primarily from Titanfall and Battlefield 4 Premium . This decrease was partially offset by a $71 million increase primarily from the Madden NFL and SimCity franchises .

          http://investor.ea.com/secfiling.cfm?filingID=712515-15-70&CIK=712515

          • Martin Longbow

it is not a primary driver for EA. It is in the service and other part which is a very small portion of EA revenue and the total number is inclusive of FIFA and Madden, however you are right, it mentions swtor.

        • mace windy

This is the last financial report filed. Maybe I have missed a new one but this one clearly mentions SWTOR as a primary driver for revenue.

If you read previous statements than you will see SWTOR in the same list as where you now see Madden NFL and SimCity.

For now the situation doesnt look to bad. However …… next financial report might show us a different picture. This however is to soon to tell yet.

        • Gabdube

Product convergence. The games and movies help promote eachother simply by virtue of being part of the same immensely popular franchise.

Which is why it is still a worthwhile investment for EA to pay the huge royalties to Disney.

          • Martin Longbow

I understand that but I don’t think EA capitalized on that. no commercials, no advertising, I don’t think they did much to convert some of that hype in to game revenue. they took the entire December off for god’s sake

            • Gabdube

I’ve seen ads for SWTOR everywhere on the internet, on pretty much every game-related website and on youtube. Not all advertising is on TV, especially advertising for an MMO. And really, who still watches TV shows on a real television nowadays.
Do you keep Adblock on at all times? That might be why you never saw them.

      • Raansu

They just fired a large portion of their staff at BW Austin and the last 3 quarterly reports indicate that swtor is being supplemented by other f2p games. swtor is no longer making a profit and subscribers have been in a steep decline for the past two years. KoTFE is definitely BW’s last hoorah with swtor. This game probably only has a year or two left before it shuts down.

swtor is being run by a skeleton crew right now and the amount of content released is in the scale of small DLC. The time frame it takes them to release 1 hour content, other MMO’s have released content that is 3x the scale. I mean shit, the “expansions” to swtor are mostly free updates, and the paid ones cant even really be called expansions.

        • Dakit

          This is accurate.

      • Bryan

It’s a fair point from a business sense. However, the smart thing to do would be to skeleton crew SWTOR and work on a new MMO set in the TFA time frame. That would allow them to better capitalize on the new movies and get a fresh start on an MMO that large droves of people tried and gave up on long ago.

        • Danny Seth

I wouldn’t play a game in that time frame. Have you noticed how they didn’t use any species from the other movies… making their new canon instable and stupid… the movie looked like a reboot, only species were wookiee, mon cal and sullustan, because they couldn’t change the returning characters’ species. How they wanted to have nothing to do with Lucas’ creations and the other movies and did everything very similar, but with different names… For crying out loud, using Pixar minions in Maz’s cantina and not a single familiar face it’s insulting and disrespectful to the Star Wars franchise. Their other projects like Rebels use races and characters from the other movies, it’s what makes people feel at home in their universe. If Disney declared a new canon and they don’t use a single tie-in, well, it’s just stupid, their future merchandise and expanded universe won’t be credible. And they’ll just reboot the SW saga once again in 10 years, dragging the Star Wars name in the mud even more.

      • Dakit

The game is not making significant profit. Pre KotFE it was making money but not growing.

Post KotFE staff is down probably down 20-30% since December. And subs look to be worst ever as well, if you actually look between the fanboy lines.

Their “subscriber rewards” program, was obviously an act of desperation, you could see it in the tone of the announcement.

A subscriber rewards program is not based on specific dates it is based on subscription time. they made it x date to x date because they see the numbers they know what is happening and are trying to save their shit, too little too late.

KotFE will be the last of the “new” content for SWTOR, fanboys enjoy it while it lasts.

        • Gabdube

The fact that the game isn’t raking in as much cash as it used to do does not in any way mean that it is no longer sufficiently profitable. EA still places it as one of its major sources of revenue and as one of the biggest contributors to its bottom line.

Sometimes, investing a lot of time and mooney into a project is not the best way to maximize cost/benefit. With the current development paradigm, this is one of those cases, and the focus is on attacting a much larger amount of short-term customers that will be easily replaced.

    • Gonadius

They’ve said repeatedly that the current run of chapters is just ‘Season 1′. So when its all out, it starts all over again.

      • Martin Longbow

what does that mean? kofte all over again?

        • Gonadius

          That’s what I figure.

        • Bryan

Probably. It’s like a dog that eats it’s own vomit, then vomits back up on a loop forever. That’s pretty much the state of the game…

    • posting.DLL

They didn’t advertise the game around The Force Awakens. So my best guess is: Disney and Lucas Arts are already done with this game.

Buy Battlefront and Disney Infinity and hope the next Star Wars MMO in 10 years won’t be developed by this LazyWare crew.

      • Bryan

Now there’s an HONEST state of the galaxy, sad as it is…

    • David W

Most games don’t announce their next expansion until it gets closer to end of life…

    • Risqu’e
      • Dakit

That was pre KotFE, since then the subs supposedly went up 30% or so when KotFE came out and leading up to it, then have dropped like crap into the toilet after, I would guess based on all the info on the net, rumors, employee info, player feedback, etc that they are 20-30% less subs then pre KotFE announcements.

The movie did not generate the “new” user subscriptions they where expecting and the KotFE changes alienated probably 50% of the player base who played pre KotFE.

yes, there are still a few people playing the game who cant see the writing on the wall and will stay until the servers turn off, there always are, but the truth is there for those who wish to see it.

Between part of the team leaving to start their own MMO, developers moving on, fired, or transferred to other projects, it looks like they are probably down 20-30% staff since December.

    • Bryan

That’s what they SHOULD do (if not sooner than that) but they won’t EA will continue to suck pennies from it as long as they can…

    • John Doe

Why do you people hope this game will fail ? How much must your real life suck kiddows ? Game is ever growing it even had que login time of 10 min + on TRE last week or so. It hasn’t been so active since mid launch u mofos. 2/10 for the troll attempts.

      • Martin Longbow

we do not hope anything. writing is on the wall and you are in delusion. game is dying, that was an issue with the server. stop crying and accept the facts.

    • Dakit

they wont shut it down, but they will put it on minimal maintenance to try and collect more income from it until they lose the licence or make another mmo.

Good thing about a new MMO is we know for sure they wont let Bioware make it!
      ———
Story is an element or layer of an MMO, not the MMO.

Story Layer* (this would be the class stories)
World Layer (includes lore, backstory, etc)

*Story sits on top of world, it as something to do, but it is not the world, SWTOR tried to make the world and story the same thing.

  • MasterKast

omg yes. more sng player content. keep up the good work bw

    • Shadowofdeath

My favorite part was when they told me some of it was delayed a month xD

  • http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.html Trogdor

Looks like there’s some cool stuff coming. Frankly I’m glad they’re focusing on solo content because more than half of the people I run into are kill/objective stealing, foul-mouthed, unhelpful smacktards.

I’m also glad they’re bringing back some of the gear they banished to obscurity.

    • Martin Longbow

doing group content without a guild is futile. finding a good guild is also a challenge. there are lot of egocentric dicks disguised as guild masters there. but once you find a good, mature one, group content becomes more attractive and fun..

      • Danny Seth

Yeah, people scream they want group content, but are dicks. And with the new way of doing ops, more and more people are alienated every day. There was a time when anyone would have a chance to roll on stuff… you even had the chance of winning decorations and other exclusive stuff you are only entitled to try only once a week. Now it’s only master looter, and that sucks, because a lot of game masters are dicks… I did EV a couple of days ago… I haven’t won anything, but the master kept 2 pieces, crafting materials, decos, and just ran away at the end… So basically I didn’t get anything more than commendations. I’d like a chance at those new op bosses decorations, I don’t want to spend million of my credits just because greedy people form groups and are dicks. If that is the only way to get exclusive stuff, more and more people will go down that road, killing the group content they try to defend. Until they remove this master looter crap, the solo content looks better and better. Solo mode operations with handpicked companions, that would be sweet. :)

        • Invallid

The problem lies in the changes they made. 224mh shouldnt drop from ev hm. Master looter system is good, just the people you raided with were ninja and dickheads. The system is broken. They should add new raiding gear from nim content so that people would neee a guild to raid with

        • Holyfrog

Simple fix is when you join the group look to see what the loot is set to, and if it’s set to master ask why. If they don’t change it leave. I refuse to help assholes decorate their SH.

          • Danny Seth

But everyone does master looter since 4.0. It’s like some universal rule now…

            • Obnxs1

I’ve only run with 2-3 master loot groups and only 1 that did it and kept shit instead of allowing rolls. And honestly the community is small enough that ninja looters WILL suffer consequences.

        • Fudneynzo

If you want a mature group of people to play with and fun http://www.aethereal.club/home we do alot of raiding and we make sure the players get gear !

        • Dawg2006

I can’t say I’ve ran into this very much if at all. Most of the groups I’ve ran with just used need greed and usually if you tell people 1 token piece per person people are usually good about doing so.

      • http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.html Trogdor

I’m not new to the MMO scene. I played WoW from vanilla through cataclysm (6 years?) I’ve also played many other mmos during that time that didn’t last long, and my experience is thus: guilds turn people into assholes. Specifically, the social engineering game of trying to maneuver yourself into position to get that precious loot, turns you into an asshole.
Frankly I find the whole concept of asking 10, 20, 40 people to all sit at their computer for hours dicking around trying to get the stars to align and everyone to do a fight correctly, then only offering that group one or two loot drops for all their hard work, that they then have to fight over, to be the devil’s scrote.

        • Dakit

This is true, the loot drop concept is poor design and only serves to artificially extent the play ability of the game and create negative social barriers.

Same for lockouts, a once a day lockout is fine and probably helps the player not get bored, but week or more lockouts are negative to player experience.

If the “loot drop” and lockout concepts where removed in favor of a “special currency” drop that all participants get, that they can then spend on their own from a store/vendor for what they want removes most of the negatives from the system.

The biggest problem of them all is you have the same Senior/Lead Designers making all the games, they move from project to project, making the same games over and over, thinking every time that their minor change will magically fix the system.

The next biggest problem is the players, but that’s another topic for another time.

          • Obnxs1

The loot drop system could be a random piece of class specific gear vs a token that anyone in the raid can use…just sayin’.

    • Raansu

I’m pissed that they are focusing so much on solo content. Last I checked its a MMO. I’m pretty much done with this game. The amount of content they release is abysmal and when they do release content its so small it can be completed in an hour.

      • Bryan

Honestly if they want to focus on single player, fine, but don’t continue to charge MMO sub prices. They need to choose one and stick with it they’ve proven trying to do both doesn’t work.

        • Raansu

Solo content is fine, but its the rate at which they release content. They can’t seem to do more than one thing at a time. I get that most of that is not their fault as they are a skeleton crew, but even when they had a strong dev team the game was full of problems and took them forever to update anything. Even after the game launched they updated it a bit, but there was long droughts between content and the content was so small it was almost sad. Naturally you’re going to continue to bleed subs when you do that.

      • Majmo Mendez

Because focusing on MMO content turned out so well. Oh wait….

        • Raansu

You’re a fucking idiot. When the game launched it had nearly 3 million players. People obviously wanted an MMO. The problem was the games engine was bad, when it launched it was WAY more unstable than it is now, owpvp was completely unplayable with people getting 5fps on Ilum.

The bag system for pvp gear was terrible. The end game only had one full raid, and 90% of the time Soa would bug out completely and you had to reset the phase.

Karagga’s Palace was there, but you could only do the first boss fight. BW didn’t open up the rest of the raid till about three months later.

It took them nearly a year to release even a small amount of content like daily areas, it took them months to fix broken content.

They opened way too many servers at launch making many of the servers feel empty even with 2.5 million subscribers and the lack of server transfer options or even cross server…..or hell even a group finder made many people leave. Prior to group finder they had a LFG flag that you had to manually search for….it was terrible.

Then after all the balls BW dropped after launching the game they went silent for nearly a year with almost zero content updates because they were transitioning to the F2P model which made them lose even more players.

I think many people either forgot how bad this game was at launch or didn’t play at launch or during the time when it was transitioning to a F2P model.

Sorry you didn’t get your kotor 3, but you’re a fucking idiot if you think it failed because they focused on it being an MMO. It failed because they were too slow to update it and the game has massive limitations due to the engine they used and now they are focusing so much on solo content and by the time we get any new end game it will be two years since the last raid….

Since they started focusing on solo content the game has been bleeding players even faster than before. People come in, play the story and leave. There is nothing else to keep them playing because there is nothing else to do. Almost every server is dead except for 1 in the NA servers.

  • sixpaths66

So when they say old appearance like War hero stuff coming back does that mean the old pvp sets?

    • Darth Ji’inx

It means that this new gear will visually look like the old PvP gear (like in the picture).

      • sixpaths66

        I want the centurion stuff.

        • Darth Ji’inx

Elite War Hero is part of the 50 PvP gear that was added later on, meaning we’re not getting the gear where the Warrior’s gear resembles Marr’s for example. Elite War Hero is craftable as shells (minus belt and bracers) for those that got the schematics way back (some require valor ratings). However, these versions were different colors. Just look up Elite War Hero on the GTN or the TOR-fashion site to see them.

          • sixpaths66

Ah i have the rated one…crap kinda dissapointing i guess some people wanted that stuff

            • Darth Ji’inx

This means that we can not only get these sets in original colors without valor restrictions, but we can finally complete them with their belts and bracers.

  • Jay Phillips

I just want more GSF love. That is all.

    • Raansu

      GSF is long forgotten.

      • p4v7

It remains forever in our hearts.

        • Raansu

I mean does anyone legitimately play it anymore? The few times I tried to queue the wait time was over 30 minutes. The one time I got a pop it took 45 minutes and half the team was afk/bots

          • p4v7

Yeah, people still play GSF. Pops are fairly common on some servers. The game update 4.0 brought new players that also got hooked on GSF.

    • Bryan

GSF was too little too late when it came out. If they’d have launched with it maybe it have been taken seriously, but even then probably not.

  • WStevens1701

I’m curious as to when or if we’ll be seeing Jakarro again, or if he’ll be an ally to recruit in the future.

    • Danny Seth

Yeah, they should add him to the roster. His droid, too. I guess he should have a body by now. Droid companion nr. 8… excluding the probe and the gonk.

  • SupRun

Are you for real. They upgrade augments AGAIN when they did so not even 6 months ago? Do they SERIOUSLY have nothing better to do? (I could go on about all the things that they could have fixed instead of upgrading augments, but I would be here a while.)

    • Sarigar

I don’t think they’re adding a new mark, I think they’re just moving the crafting level required from 500 to 550 for the Mk 8’s.

      • sumOne

        This was my interpretation, too.

      • Zhah

I sooo hope you are right.

      • SupRun

I would not have a problem with that. But you’re not sure of this. After all, it IS BioFail we’re talking about here, they could easily upgrade saying we need more stats for the new arena or whatnot.

      • Darth Twinge

This is how I understood it also.
I think it’s just for cosmetic purposes of keeping all the 208 level craftables together. They didn’t raise the cap with launch of the expansion, so now that they are delivering, it all just has to fall in line. :D

      • Dominick Patrick Fuss

Which begs the questioin.. do we make as many as possible now? before the changes so it’s cheaper?? Or do we get boned and have to make Mk 9s? Wish I’d know meow.

    • Raansu

Honestly I wish they would move away from augments. If they upgrade the ilevel and new mk kits again in such a short time…..I’m out.

      • SupRun

I agree. I spent a fortune worth of credits and mats to have my armors with aug kits and augs. I literally would not be able to afford that again.

  • bee’sniffer

i like Reno_Tarshil’s idea for gear.

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=865606&page=15
“I think it should not reward gear but currency.

Fights 1-5 should reward 1 currency each with the Weekly for that giving you a bonus 5 currency.

Fights 6-7 Should reward 2 currency each with the Weekly giving 7 currency.

Fights 8-9 Should reward 3 currency each.

Fight 10 should reward 5 currency and the weekly for completing all 10 fights should be 10 currency.

This new currency would then be saved up and used to unlock Bowdaar or
any other future companions added on to a special vendor along with old
orange weapon models which are hard to find, if not non existent like
the lightsaber Revan uses in Foundry or the Curved Hilt Lightsaber for
example. New mounts like a Arena Rancor or some animal. Also really
design 8 really cool class themed brawling outfits that are legacy bound
    and adaptive.

Just what I would wanna see for rewards but idk if anyone else would. “

“Make deadly decisions and face the consequences”
    Uhul, that’s amazing!

    hummmmmmmmmmmm

    Nah, same bulshit again!

    • Shawn Hargrave

think more accurate saying would be make the same deadly decisions 8 times over and face the same consequences 8 times over

  • Teiden

    BLIZZ!

  • me

Game is dead. You just didn’t noticed that.

    • Charles Dickens

SWTOR is as dead as a door-nail.

Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what
there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been
inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of
ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the
simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s
done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that
SWTOR is as dead as a door-nail.

  • Disqus this

Well that was a disappointing live stream.

More generic companions I wont use and crafting so we can make 208 gear and MK kits we could already make. Terrible design.

One new warzone they might have in 7 months if they hit their target.

No new end game content but lets all praise them for talking about, talking about it.

1 hour or so of story for the past 3 months sub along with eternal championship thats once again nothing but solo content and really can’t offer any significant reward.

    BW continues to disappoint.

  • Bryan

So basically. We’re spending 90% of our time bringing back old stuff rather than working on new stuff. New stuff isn’t coming, there’s enough content in the game.

They need to stop pretending the game isn’t dead. Move the devs onto other things and put the game into support mode, or shut the doors in general…

    • emperorbear

Really??? Because you are commenting on this I would assume you play the game. Even if they may not be developing as much as you want do you really want them to shut the game down?If this matters that much to you just stop playing. It really doesnt affect you at all if they keep going on it for the enjoyment of others

      • Bryan

You make poor assumptions… I used to play, I used to play a lot. For the first 2, 2.5 years I played the game almost obsessively. As the games quality has slowly eroded away I’ve played less and less because it’s so terrible. I gave KotFE a try, felt it was mediocre at best and they watered down the combat way too far to be any fun. Then the fixed the OP companions and it seemed like it might be worth playing through chapter 16, then they re-God modded the comps and I haven’t played since then and likely never will.

I come here because I still would like to see the game be at least decent again. It’s kinda like visiting a loved one on life support. At this point I’m tired of seeing it struggle and I’d rather they pull the plug and become one with the force.

        • Shawn Hargrave

Whats become clear is bioware cant handle the demand for new content demands it seems they started off saying starting in jan were gonna have monthly content now its feb and the wz is even off further. Fanboi or not regardless of who you are you can only do the same content so many times and so many ways over and over and over.

Its pure lazyness on there part i mean seriously i have to wonder about a game that rehashes comps as “new content” then turns all the comps into cookie cutters it defeats the purpose of even bothering with it.

          • Sadriel_Fett

I don’t think it’s laziness, so much on their part, as it is bad planning. You’re never going to be able to make new content as fast as the community burns through it. Thats a given. That’s pretty much all video games, It sounds like they put most of their eggs in the proverbial “KOTFE chapters” basket. Now they’re mainly focused and committed on finishing that as a priority and it doesn’t sound like they have enough developers to help out with content other than that. So, all the other PVE and PVP content gets puts on the sideburners. You’d think they’d realize that once you finish through the end game content, those are pretty much what a lot of the gamers are playing. That way you can keep gearing up all your toons and what not, with PVE and PVP gear. It’s starts to become a grind after a while, as with anything like this. It’d be nice if there was a way they could focus a little something on making it not seem like that. Having more of that main side content helps to break up the monotony of grinding, at least for me. Gives you more options. I’m sure the hard core PvP players are getting tired of the same old maps, too. I don’t know if BW has the money to hire more Dev’s for something like that, though. We may have to wait until they’re done with the rest of KOTFE before we start seeing more content like this, which is a shame. It’s not supposed to be completed until next Fall, right? That’s a lot of time for people to get bored and drop the game from now to then.

            • Shawn Hargrave

              good point

            • Dakit

The thing is by the time they are done with Season 1 of KotFE the game will not have the support or the community (players/subscribers) to warrant making new PvE content.

It is too late, their gamble failed in the eye’s of the players and primarily their main demographic for MMO games, their primary audience, etc, and probably the financials, we will see in the next two financial quarters, next one will be little info on swtor, last one will have probably no info on swtor, since they want to hide the truth from the investors.

Games have been trying to widen their audience for years by making games easier, trying to lower the entry barrier and it doesn’t really work, especially for an MMOs, but instead of creating a two stage experience, ie a person can play the game in a basic mode easy for all and also have an in depth mode that players can move into and widen the experience and add the depth that people need to keep them interested they just focus on the basic mode and then wonder why people lose interest and quit..because there is no depth.

You see this concept in the new Star Wars Battlefront, the entry barrier is low and the depth to the progression and gameplay is low, so yes they sell A LOT of copies, but the number of people playing after a month of playing is low compared to sales numbers. There is no depth, in progression, in gameplay, so their is no reasons to keep playing. But hey, it looks amazing and they sold massive amounts of copies, so they keep making these games without real depth.

              • dresa

i disagree its seems to be a success as server population is at 8 month high

          • BrianDavion

I always assumed the next chapter would be in Febuary myself. I assumed late Jan early Febuary. which is when Bioware ALWAYS puts out the first “big patch of the new year”

            • Shawn Hargrave

what i do remember is them saying starting jan were going to have our cadence monthly for chapters/content but if they release at end of jan i could be wrong it is still january lol

          • Sorrynotsorry

you seem to forget that WoW frequently goes an entire year or MORE with out any new content.

SWTOR is in fine shape compared to other MMOs

        • emperorbear

Sure ok, you dont play anymore, but there are still many who do. Just because you dont think the game should continue doesnt mean others dont. I for one enjoy the game. I understand that as more people leave they may take longer to release more with less funding, but I will happily play until they are no longer profitable, and there really isnt any indication that that is the case currently. My assumptions there for are not poor. You have played you have decided to quit, and because of that you think the whole game should as well. You say you are tired of seeing it struggle, so dont look at it. Let those who enjoy it still enjoy it.

          • Ben Gimson

Thing is, the sooner swtor dies, the sooner we’ll get a third SW MMO built with (hopefully, if they’ve learned anything here) a proper engine. Which is a win for everyone.

            • David W

Dubious claim. They could just as easily decide “Well SWG and SWTOR failed. Probably there’s no market in a Star Wars MMO.”

              • Shawn Hargrave

The problem is EA will be the one making it thats the problem so it will be the same thing but with a better engine hopefully = /

              • David W

I don’t know how tight the rights are held by EA. Is it possible that with Disney in play, they could go with someone else? (asking because I have no idea)

              • Loveitorleaveit

no EA has a lock on all Console and PC games for the remaining 7 years of the contract.

Even after that no one is going to fork over the money to take it from EA. So EA will keep the contract.

              • Ben Gimson

Nah, it’s a market that EA wouldn’t stay out of for very long. Swtor will still have been profitable, whether it reached their expectations or not. Making a new one set in the new trilogy era would let them exploit the movies far more as the content would relate to them, whereas swtor is pretty alien compared to TFA.

A fresh start would also let them create something with a better engine and, thus, a longer lifespan.

              • David W

Well, knowing someone inside EA, I know they shot down a trilogy era single player game last year. But it would be interesting if you’re right and they do make such a game.

              • Ben Gimson

Can’t see swtor being the last one tbh. MMO market isn’t going anywhere, and apparently everyone enjoyed the new film so the same applies to Star Wars. It’s a gap they’ll want to capitalise on, once they’ve bled things dry here. Just hope they’ll learn from experience if/when it happens.

              • David W

How certain is it that EA would have the rights to any future game? (Asking because I don’t know). Do they have a lock on it or could it be given to someone else?

              • Ben Gimson

I remember reading they have ten years of exclusivity with Star Wars, starting from around the Disney take-over IIRC.

              • Loveitorleaveit

SWG failed however SWTOR didn’t. Its still a top money maker for EA. If it failed it would be long gone. Look how quickly EA shut down their MOBAs or even Warhammer online.

              • OhHaiDer

SWG didnt fail. SWG got shut down because they only wanted one license out and thought SWTOR would be better. It isnt.

              • Loveitorleaveit

SWG failed before SWTOR was even an idea. SWG was down to 10k subs like 2 years after launch. Smedly even said they could have kept SWG running but they chose not to.

Sony even kept The Clone Wars MMO up running so your theory is bunk

            • Loveitorleaveit

umm EA isn’t going to be making a new MMO any time soon. Love it or hate it you are stuck with SWTOR for at least the next 7 years.

              • Ben Gimson

                7 years? :’)

              • Loveitorleaveit

minum. They have 7 years left on the current contract with Disney. A new MMO would take a minimum of 5 years. They aren’t going to risk that a 5 year development in the very small chance that they don’t renew the contract.

Besides the next 6 years are going to be peak Star Wars. It would be stupid to make a new MMO out that will come out after the current gen of Star Wars movies.

Yes eventually they will make a new Star Wars MMO however it will just be a new version of SWTOR as its still the second most succesful western MMO

              • Ben Gimson

The devs struggle to put content out in a timely (or stable) fashion as it is; if things keep going as they are, swtor won’t manage another 5.

Maybe if we’re lucky they’ll do a ME MMO instead, and SW will go to a more capable company. Wishful thinking, but all the same the sooner we can move on from this shoddy engine to something that actually works properly, the better.

              • Loveitorleaveit

how do you figure they are strugling? You know wow goes over a year between content patches right?

No EA decided to cancel their plans for a ME MMO. What company do you think is more capable at handeling SW?

              • me

the devs struggle to put out conent in SWTOR? since when? WoW devs do but not SWTOR

    • Lama

By complaining here means you lost your way somewhere prop so either find it back or stop complaining.
Complaining never gets you anywhere start fixing stuff instead starting from your self

    • BrianDavion

I don’t think they’re doing it because they’re in maintance mode, some of the changes made took a fair bit of work, rather they don’t want all their work on things to go to waste after a patch makes the content obselete. 4.0 seems to be about future proofing as much as anything else.

  • Skulls

clearing 5 encounters should drop 216 gear and a pet
clearing 7 encounters should drop 220 gear and a nice legacy weapon
clearing 10 encounters should drop 224 gear and a nice rare mount

Thats should make everyone happy and motivate them to complete them all.

    • Skinnyadzy

I hope its not too easy!!

5 encounters: 216 gear, 12 glowing data crystals and a pet

7 encounters: 220 gear, mount, 12 glowing data crystals and 4 Radiant Data Crystals

10 encounters 224 gear, chance at a super rare drop, 16 glowing data crystals annnnnd 10 Radiant Data Crystals

      • SupRun

I would run every single one of my toons through KotFE and get whatever companions needed if I could get a piece of 224 gear on 14 toons.
I don’t think they are willing to give us that high level of gear just to get a companion.

        • Skinnyadzy

I hope it no companions just you fighting!

          • SupRun

I have 220 and 224 geared toons that should fairly easily make it, even without companions.

          • Raansu

They already said you can use companions, which negates the entire thing imo.

    • Raansu

224 gear should not drop from solo content. 216 should be the highest you get from clearing it. And basic 216 at that. No gear sets.

  • Seph

“Any plans to add in new events? Don’t have anything to share right now. We have gotten good mileage with our current events.”….. that’s what happens when you are in maintenance mode.

good mileage you couldnt even do them at all lol both were bugged events uuugh

    • Loveitorleaveit

maintenance mode? SWTOR? do you even know what Maintenance mode means?

I bet he does but I don’t think you do

swtor has been in maintenance mode for the last two years. Why do you think they barely release any content? The stuff they add in “expansions” is the size of a average update for other MMO’s.

        • Loveitorleaveit

2 years?? are freaking joking? ok Maitaince mode means NO new content. I mean nothing. Vanguard for example was in maintenance mode.

SWTOR however has released a ton of new content in fact in the past year they released more content then WoW

          • Raansu

2 hours of cutscenes and adding level sync and calling it “new” is not in any way significant new content. FFXIV releases tripple that in a 3 month period.

            • Loveitorleaveit

haha FFXIV that POS game? Yeah you know SWTOR has more players then FFXIV and its in a smaller market.

              • kinsmen195

More players doesn’t equal better game, you tard. Just for that, dropping SWTOR and going to FFXIV.
                Hope you’re happy with yourself.

              • Raansu

You definitely should try it out. It is an excellent game. My only complaint is the combat is a little slow, but the end game raids are very mechanic heavy with a lot of movement so faster global cool downs wouldn’t really work in the way the game is designed around movement.

              • Loveitorleaveit

oh no random person on the internet is going to stop playing a game and play another… for reasons…

              • Raansu

LOL no it doesn’t. swtor has maybe 300k subscribers if that. FFXIV has over 2 million and it is a far superior game to swtor. Only reason I stick around for swtor is for the pvp.

There’s a reason that harbinger is the only server with an actual population. SL has an ok pop and the rest of the servers are pretty empty with the bastion and pot5 being completely dead and in dire need of a server merger. SL and JC need a server merger as well as the two RP servers. This game is deader than dead. 8 NA servers and only 1 ever even reaches heavy status? I was on SL for awhile and it was near impossible to even get a pug group going for raids, and forget about ranked pvp. Harb has consistent pops for ranked pvp and pug op groups all the time. Its the only active server right now.

              • me

Swtor has at least 500k if not more now. FFXIV has 2 million accounts not 2 million subs. That is also 2 million accounts on a game that is on consoles and PC is in the East and the West.

SWTOR is only in the West and only on PC.

              • Loveitorleaveit

wrong again FFXIV was 5 million accounts not subscriptions. acutal Subscribers is less then 500k

              • Raansu

Their official financial reports state that their active accounts are above 4 million. Active means subscribers. But hey, you keep believing what you want. End of the day swtor is dead. Only 1 server is active anymore and once we get to chapter 16 that’s probably it for this game. I wont be surprised if its closed down by 2017.

              • Loveitorleaveit

nope wrong again it never said that. They said during its 21 months its been live they had 4 million people who paid for at least 1 month

They have never said their actual subscriber numbers and esitmates put it less then 500k based on server pop.

That’s cool if you like a game as awful as FFXIV who can’t even reach 500k being released worldwide and on PC and Console.

However SWTOR has over 500k subs with another 500k F2P players.

I mean if we use FFXIV’s methods SWTOR has over 8 million

oh also the 5 million XIV includes any accounts from 1.0

              • Raansu

SWTOR doesn’t have anywhere near 500k. At best it has 200k, but I highly doubt it has more than 150k. Out of the 8 NA servers, 5 of them are light at prime time, two are standard and one is heavy, and the heavy one shares players from southeast asia.

You can believe what you want, but the official reports last year showed active players above 4 million.

                http://imgur.com/a/XplYZ

These images were released a few months back which players have estimated the current numbers are still close to 4m.

Sorry that the game you think is bad is 3x more popular than swtor which is run by a bunch of fucking monkeys. I could do a better job than bioware does with swtor and I only know basic game design from teaching myself. Bioware needs to stop hiring interns and fix their games engine. Maybe then they could do more than 30 minutes of content once a year because they have to spend so much time doing QA on their buggy ass engine and still release it with game breaking bugs.

                swtor is dead.

              • Loveitorleaveit

i’m going by what FFXIV OFFICIALLY SAID! They said over the past 21 months they have had 5 million players pay at least 1 month. The 1 million bump they had was when they decided to include the accounts who played 1.0

                Those are the facts.

Yes SWTOR has at LEAST 500k subscribers. probalby more now that the movie came out and they have added a new expansion that has only recieved tons of praise by the gaming press.

Server pop has been on a rise since the expansion and seen a huge bump in DEC and JAN

YOu have yet to proivide any evidence that SWTORs population has dropped.

In fact if you look at all the earning reports since they said they have 500k subs guess what? Each one has either said the following, Population is steady or profits from SWTOR have increased. You don’t get either of those with out keeping 500k subs

              • Raansu

dont know what you’re reading but EA quarterly reports state swtor is losing money and being supplemented by FIFA and other f2p games. Its been in decline for the last two years which is why they made the shift with kotfe and why they are begging people to stay subscribed for 6 months to get a weak ass special reward.

This game is dead as an MMO. The only players that are going to be left by the end of the year are the few people that bother to stick around for the once a month chapter that will be cleared in 20 minutes. There is nothing being done to create player retention. Even torstatus is showing a drop in server status on several servers with the dead servers still being dead. I logged into an alt on pot5 the other night. Prime time the republic fleet had 15 people. Imp had 83. I went over to SL prime time there was 1 instance of 100 people. Harb averages 3 instances at prime time, but thats because everyone is abandoning the dead servers. This game doesn’t need more than 2 servers and it definitely DOES NOT have 500k subs. You’re high as a kite if you think it does. At best 200k and thats being generous.

              • Loveitorleaveit

ok show me the quote that says SWTOR is losing money.

I take it you looked up the info on FFXIV that’s why you are being silent on the whole 5 million accounts.

      • Seph

Your sense of sarcasm is….. poor.

  • Saplaks

FFS this game has become such an RPG that there is little to no MMO aspect. Old content NEVER will count as new and if you update game like this which is MMO RPG than make sure update/expansion fits in all areas including group content, it even hurts to see where this game is going…

    • Orbalos

you said it all, couldn’t agree more

      • Ser JuJoo Guppy

There is a reason ive been un-subbed for several months now, waiting for actual new content to come in. Hell, even the packs these days are almost all cut/paste armors, hardly any original armor designs :(

But dont worry, im just bitching to bitch. Its not cause I actually really like this game (Hence I check the news on it) and really want to keep playing, but hate having nothing but old buggy content that I have done 10000000 times already. Nope, its just cause I want to complain for no reason at all.

        • Saplaks

Yeah the same thing i did, i will thou sub only when 16th or last chapter comes out just to enjoy story in full its glory, but as game it self there is really not much things to keep me on.

          • Ser JuJoo Guppy

My guilds activity dropped quite fast after 4.0 sadly.. after about a month of it people were already burnt out, plus the new cutscene movie, err single player really didnt have much reason to replay at this point, as the different options didnt effect the story at all.

I realize its early on in the story, and presumably eventually the choices you make will actually have a big impact, but with how much they hyped up choice making, I think they shouldve released enough story for the choices to start mattering, rather than looking like they exaggerated it.

Also, the story content really shouldve been more play time inbetween the awesome cutscenes, and the combat not so dumbed down that I was able to use 1 ability all the way through (SUPPRESSING FIRE!!!).

            Sigh.

            • Saplaks

Yeah i feel you, in this games life time i lost two guilds as they just simply died.

you’re not the only one that sees that, i know some plot holes in this one and they are not small ones, like you actually can experience them throughout the story, but for me with 14 character story becomes really boring after 3 times.

oh yeah seems that expansion was made for little kids as combat is to easy no challenge at all :(

            • EDI

Bioware overhype choices effect on Gameplay??? Never I’m Shocked!!! lol

            • Martin Longbow

I don’t think it will change. Choices matter was the biggest lie in the history of this game. there is a reason lead kofte lady left couple weeks back.

    • Majmo Mendez

The game utterly failed as MMO tho, seems like going more towards the solo RPG concept brings them more players.

  • John Doe

Alot of people still complain about them adding the Centurion armor , i don’t care glad war hero’s commin back.

    • sixpaths66

They added the centurion armor? If so hell yea!

      • Darth Ji’inx

Don’t think so. Stronghold and Nightlife packs had some armors that resembled some of the PvP sets that used the same base models as the Centurion gear.

  • Red Claw

Oooh upping the crafting levels- awesome! And new mats… Hopefully they continue on with level 9, 10, etc and don’t do what they did previously when they went from 6 to 9, to 11… That was weird. But I’m glad the older gear that people liked the look of is coming back. Some of the older gear looked awesome and it sucked that it became unavailable when a game change came in- PvP sets, endgame 50s sets and suchlike). One thing that would also be nice is upping the crystal stats too cos at the moment crystals are stuck at rating 136 or something like that.

    • Muljo_Stpho

Grades 7, 8, and 10 had been all the various types of “exotic materials” dropped from different tiers of PVE content. The blue 7/8/10s got merged into exotic isotope stabilizer and the purple 7/8/10s got merged into dark matter catalyst in 4.0’s crafting changes. They cleaned it up so that the labels of grades 7 and 8 could be used on the pre-4.0 grade 9 and grade 11 materials. The current end-game materials have been left out of the numbering scheme, so the label of grade 9 is free for use with new materials.

  • Mer Vila

Either take away sorc/sage bubble, or give something like that to all healers; sudden death is defined by which team has a sorc/sage. Leave everything as it is, it works just fine.

    • Raygun

      No

  • tomski

damn them i was so happy with my bounty hunter look old chempion gear didint see any one in it for years now it will be spoiled plus war hearo is avi in game can be crafted hope they will compensate pepole with shems

  • Joel Kraus

Are we able to recruit also other companions or just Blizz? I like the recruitment missions and I think that we do not have enough content regarding this.

    • PVW

Also Kaliyo in Chapter X. Bowdaar in Chapter XI. But next week’s stream talks about companions; this one didn’t.

  • alx9k

Hmmm. We f*cked operation loot. We f*cked GF so much that PUG flashpoints are almost undoable. We did not issued any ops content for lot of time… What shold we do to screw this game even more?

Oh I know! lets reward ops loot for solo weeklies! F*ck guilds! Screw ops progression! Swtor is solo game now!

    • adam hard on

Welcome to the new world of gaming losser

      • POPO

First, learn to spell l-o-s-e-r, loser. “New world of gaming”? Single player? LMAO.

  • pt4life

Yay still no News on Anything New as Far as end game raiding goes!! GG nearly 14months with nothing new and going strong! Rip Group content for Swtor

  • posting.DLL

Great. Now I have to wait for the crafting changes for 4 weeks? Because I need Augmentations, but don’t want to waste my time and credits on outdated ones.

Will MK-8 still be the best, or not? Or what? Meh.
Thx BioWare for no useful information at all.

    • Meelis S

Thats how Bioware has always done with update info over 4 years. They never give out specific details before patch arrives. Only data miners are those who share bits her and there.

  • takemymoney

So much whine because the devs dont talk about the gamers individual little shitty needs… I think the game is greatly improving, too slow maybe but it is progressing. cant wait for the new stuff

    • Raansu

Removing the MMO from MMORPG is not improving the game.

      • Holyfrog

They are not removing the MMO from the game. You still can’t solo Ops. They are not ADDING any new MMO content. If you are going to bitch, get the facts straight.

        • Raansu

They made all the heroics soloable. FP’s are now soloable, the entire game is practically soloable and they are focusing purely on solo content. Yes they are removing the MMO out of the game.

        • Dawg2006

Yes the only thing you need a group for is HM FP’s and Ops that are recycled crap we’ve played for years now. We want new multiplayer content not rehashed stuff we’ve done to death.

      • Mike

Isn’t that exactly what WoW did that made it such a huge game, they made it easy to solo alot of it. Stuff that in previous mmo’s was all group based.
Are they making too much soloable, its too early to tell.

        • Raansu

No, the early days of WoW was actually pretty grindy and the old end game was pretty difficult. Now a days you can go 1-10 in like an hour. Me an my cousin played on a vanilla server awhile back for fun. It took us practically all day to get to level 12.

WoW fluctuates with each expansion with people coming back, but as the game got easier they saw bigger and bigger drops in subscriptions because everyone was getting the best stuff and clearing content within a few weeks. When I played FFXI it took me almost a year to get a full set of gear I wanted. Would I ever go back to that? No definitely not, but there definitely needs to be a middle ground.

Its WAY too easy to clear content in both WoW and swtor, and swtor content is several years old now. How are you supposed to have player retention if you can get the best gear in a week and are not prepared to add content to keep up with it? This is why old MMO’s were super grindy. It was to give developers time to make new content and to create a form of player retention.

          • Falinesti

WAY too easy to clean all nightmare ops ? You are a funny one.

            • Raansu

Nightmare ops are not necessary for gear progression, on top of the fact that BW has stated they are no longer doing nightmare ops and hard mode will be the main difficulty for newer ops, which for anyone who has done raiding in swtor will tell you none of the hard mode ops are even remotely difficulty.

And honestly, the nightmare ops are not that hard either. Its just that 90% of the people who raid in MMO’s are idiots, which is why MMO’s are going into such a casual ezmode direction the last few years.

  • Moray

Let’s see, if we get “new” augments and mk-kits, or maybe the current ones will just need a new higher crew-skill.

  • Vysehrad

“Will it be too easy for veteran players? Yes and no.” It’s always going to be too easy for people with maxed out gear and who do absolutely nothing but play video games. Honestly if people want a challenge, play through the game in nothing but white and green gear.
Really reveals a fundamental problem with MMOs. Over-reliance on gear. Then there’s macros so you don’t even have to play the game because it basically plays itself.
