Getting Started
Why Alchemy?
Alchemy can be a bit daunting at first. It requires quite a lot of materials from sources such as farming/gardening and rare drops from certain nodes. You will need a decent amount of contribution points to have workers working at various nodes all over the map and a large storage space to storage everything.
For all your hard work, alchemy rewards you with elixirs to enhance your combat abilities, magic crystals to socket your armor/weapons, alchemy stones to boost your stats, and various components required for more advanced crafting.
How do I Start?
To start off with Alchemy, you will need an Alchemy Tool, which can be purchased from any General Goods vendor in a city/town. If you are unsure of how to find one, use the NPC window near your minimap and select Goods.
This alchemy tool can be only installed in a residence so you will need to place your contribution points towards a residence and use the placement tool in your residence to set it down. While you can set up the tool in any residence, I highly recommend you have a residence at No. 6-1 in Olvia, the first town you encountered when making a new character. Olvia has numerous Alchemy dailies that can level up your alchemy skill fast and this particular residence is right next to the Storage Manager, which is very handy since you will be storing most of your alchemy mats in the storage. Just like cooking, the Alchemy Tool also has a Continuous Production button where you place ingredients required for making 1 of the items and then click on the button to select how many times you want to repeat it.
Glish Introductory Alchemy Quest
Glish has a series of introductory Alchemy quest you can follow along that teach you the very basics of making Pure Powder Reagent and Clear Liquid Reagent, the two key ingredients for almost all alchemy recipes.
The quest chain starts with Seilane in Glish (General Goods vendor) and requires you to be Gathering Apprentice 2+. It gives quite a bit of Alchemy XP and should push you to Apprentice in Alchemy if you do all the quests in the series. Regardless if you can’t do the quest for some reason or need some extra XP to reach Apprentice, you can make batches of Pure Powder Reagent and Clear Liquid Reagent as detailed below.
- Accidental Alchemist – Bring 1 Sunrise Herb to Seilane
- Basic Alchemy Ingredients #1 – Bring Bottle of River Water to Seilane
- Basic Alchemy Ingredients #2 – Make Purified Water by Thinning
- Alchemy Catalyst, Clear Liquid Reagent – Make 1 Clear Liquid Reagent
- Using a Catalyst for Resurrection Elixir – Make 1 Resurrection Elixir
- Pure Powder Reagent, Another Catalyst – Make 1 Pure Powder Reagent
- Make an Elixir of Energy – Make 1 Elixir of Energy
Pure Powder Reagent
Pure Powder Reagent is made with the following ingredients
- 1x Sugar
- 1x Purified Water
- 1x Silver Azalea
- 1x Wild Grass or 1-5 Weeds (the amount of Weeds you need depends on your Alchemy skill but generally 1 will do, change to 3 or 5 if you fail the recipe).
Silver Azalea can be obtained from the Northern Plain of Serendia node west of Heidel by workers. Alternatively you can gather it yourself by using Hoes on Wild Herbs. Weeds are commonly obtained from gathering Wild Herbs as well but the drop rate decreases as your gathering skill goes up.
Purified Water is obtained by buying Empty Bottles from the Material Vendor and then fill them next to a river. This will give you Bottle of River Water, which you can then process to Purified Water by picking the Thinning Option in Simple Processing (L).
Sugar can be brought from any cooking vendor by picking the Cooking option in the NPC window.
Clear Liquid Reagent
Clear Liquid Reagent is made with the following ingredients
- 1x Salt
- 1x Purified Water
- 1x Sunrise Herb
- 1x Wild Grass or 1-5 Weeds (the amount of Weeds you need depends on your Alchemy skill but generally 1 will do, change to 3 or 5 if you fail the recipe).
Sunrise Herb can be gathered from Cron Castle node east of Heidel by workers. Alternatively you can gather it yourself by using Hoes on Wild Herbs.
Leveling Alchemy
Beginner
For most of Beginner you should do that introductory alchemy quest chain in Glish listed above if you can. This should raise you to Apprentice. If not you can simply make batches of Pure Powder Reagent and Clear Liquid Reagent for later use.
Apprentice
Once you hit Apprentice 1, most of the Olvia alchemy dailies will be opened up to you. You should do all of them daily if you can as they give enormous amount of Alchemy XP and you will be flying through Apprentice levels in no time.
- Julietta, the Rookie Alchemist
- Chiara’s Hide Treatment
- Method of Hemostasis
- Curtis’ Metal Solvent
- Bionier’s Jewels
- Just Like a Seal
- Wocester, Enhancing Plywood
If you reach Gathering Skilled 5, you will be able to unlock some Alchemy quests in Florin. The quest chain starts with Valentine in Florin, who is the Chief of the little town.

- Philance’s Buddy – Find Koi
- Where is Koi – Look for Koi in Caphras Cave
- Alchemy for Philance – Make Sinner’s Blood

- In-depth Alchemy #1 – Make Clown’s Blood
- In-depth Alchemy #2 – Make Experience Elixir
- Back to Valentine – Meet with Chief Valentine
- It All Starts with Knowledge – Make Clear Liquid Reagent

If you reach Alchemy Apprentice 6, you will be able to head to Wayne, who lives in southern area of Calpheon and do his short chain of quests that requires you to gather some Fruits.
- A Small Favor
- A Kid’s Wisdom – Get 1 Fruit of Crimson
- Different Seed, Same Method #1 – Get 1 Fruit of Abundance
- Different Seed, Same Method #2 – Get 1 Fruit of Nature
- Different Seed, Same Method #3 – Get 1 Fruit of the Sun
Also at Alchemy Apprentice 8, you can quest another series of quests from Bofin in Olvia that will unlock 4 more dailies available starting at Skilled 1.
- Bofin’s Suggestions – Get 1 Fruit of the Sun
- Enhancing Crystals – Upgrade Magic Crystal of Enchantment
- The Real Challenge – Make Magic Crystal of Infinity – Swiftness
Corin has more quests for you once you are at Skilled 1.
- Creation of Essence – Make Essence of Enchantment
- Making Sub-Ingredients – Make 2 Tyrant’s Blood using Alchemy
- The Final Test – Make Magic Crystal of Infinity – Down Attack.
Skilled
Beginning at skilled, you can start doing the four new dailies in Olvia from Bofin and Corin once you have completed their quests.
Florin will also have some new alchemy quests from Villagers starting at Skilled 2 with a new quest roughly every level in Skilled you can complete for massive alchemy XP.
Alchemy Materials
Alchemy is notorious for having materials that are obscure on their acquisition. This section is dedicated to all those Traces, Fruits, and Powders that are so hard to find.
Bloods
The big thing for Alchemy is that certain bloods are interchangeable so you can always get bloods of more common animals rather than hunting down the rare ones. Here is a list of which ones are interchangeable with each other. Bloods of the same group can be used interchangeable in a recipe.
- Blood Group 1: Wolf, Flamingo, Rhino, Cheetah Dragon
- Blood Group 2: Deer, Sheep, Goat, Cow, Pig, Ox, Waragon
- Blood Group 3: Weasel, Fox, Raccoon
- Blood Group 4: Bear, Troll, Ogre
- Blood Group 5: Worm, Lizard, Bat, Kuku
Wolf, Weasel and Fox can be found in Olvia near Wolf Hills (Foxes) and Balenos River Mouth (Wolves) since the May 4th, 2016 update and there are dailies to gather their bloods.
Sheep can be found near Lynch Ranch that is NW of Heidel. Pigs can be found in abundance around Northern Wheat Plantation.
Trolls are north of Calpheon
Lizards are near Glish in the swamps.
Crystals
These are the Black, Green, Mud, Red and Translucent Crystals you can obtain as a rare drop from various metal nodes. You can also go to the node area and gather it yourself manually.
Rough Black Crystal(South of Altinova)
Rough Green Crystal (North of Trent)
Rough Mud Crystal (SE of Glish)
Rough Red Crystal (NE of Calpheon or NE of Heidel)
Rough Translucent Crystal (SE of Velia)
Fruits
The fruits are mostly obtained from farming/gardening and is required for making the Magic Crystals and various Oils. Specific crops yields specific fruits.Fruits are most commonly obtained when you breed the crops (F1) instead of harvesting them. If you are unsure of how farming works, check out this guide.
Crops marked with * symbol takes up 2 spaces and might not be as ideal as they don’t seem to give higher chances of getting seeds. Additionally, higher quality crops (i.e. High Quality or Top Quality) seems to give a higher chance for seeds when breeding.
If you don’t have farms/garden setup or can’t get the fruits you want, you can also get them via two dailies in Olvia (requires Alchemy Apprentice 8+ to unlock). Additionally, you can get Fruits randomly from gathering Wild Herbs, Plants, and Lumbering Trees but those drops are rare and not reliable.
Gemstones
Gemstones are the Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Topaz that are required for various Magic Crystals and other crafts. There are two ways to acquire them. You can obtain them as drops off the Rainbow Stones and other nodes once you are at least Skilled 5 in gathering. Alternatively, you can heat certain accessories (via Heating in Simple Processing) and acquire them.

Gathering Locations
Rough Emeralds can be gathered from Beryl veins in Secret Cave near Serendia Shrine. Beryl veins are a green mineral that is a bit hard to see and typically yield 1 Rough Emerald and sometimes an Emerald. You might also need to be Gathering Skilled 5 to be able to gather them.
Rough Ruby can also be gathered by workers at the Coal Node in Omar Lava Cave in Mediah (near Altinova).
Rainbow Stones are veins that can contain any of the gemstone and there is a concentration of them east of Heidel. Here is a map made by Reddit User Appletinker. Note that you must be Gathering Skilled 5+ to be able to gather them.
Another location for Rainbow Stones is the Glutoni Cave next to Keplan.
Opals are special gemstones that can be gathered from Strange Rocks (stacked stone looking like veins) along the Epheria Ridge (coastline NE of Epheria). You also need Gathering Skilled 5+ to mine them as well.
Additionally, some Opals are available from the various islands scattered in the ocean north of the world map. There is also a Copper node in Mediah Shore that give you Rough Opals as a rare byproduct as well.
Herbs
While you can gather wild herbs by hand using a hoe, sometimes it is more efficient to have workers to gather them in large quantities from specific nodes. You can also raise them in gardens/farms if that is more convenient for you. Remember that Weeds can be substituted for Wild Grass.
Herb Vendor
There is a herb vendor in Calpheon selling various herbs for ~500 silver if you are having trouble obtaining some of them and have the silver to spare.
Fire Flake Flower
There isn’t a node for Fire Flake Flower but there is a large patch of Fire Flake Flowers you can gather on top of the hill west of Florin.
Silk Honey Grass
Silk Honey Grass can be obtained from nodes in Longleaf Tree Sentry Post SE of Trent or from Karanda Ridge east of Florin by workers. In Mediah you can also find nodes of it next to Ancient Fissure and Marni’s 2nd Lab. Additionally you can find ones you can gather manually in the same location west of Florin for Fire Flake Flowers.
Silver Azalea
Silver Azalea can be obtained from the Northern Plain of Serendia node west of Heidel by workers.
Sunrise Herb
Sunrise Herb can be gathered from Cron Castle node east of Heidel by workers.
Weeds/Wild Grass
Weeds/Wild Grass can be gathered from any Wild Herb/Bush/Thicket etc without using a Gathering Hoe as the Hoe significantly lowers the drop rate of weeds/wild grass.
Magic Crystal
The green quality Magic Crystals are needed as the base component in making the blue version of the Crystals which are available starting at Alchemy Skilled 1. Different Jeweler vendor carry different stocks. Use the NPC button next to your Minimap and select Jeweler to find these vendors.
Some Magic Crystals are dropped from monsters only.

Keplan Quarry – North of Keplan
Behr Riverhead – NE of Trent
Traces
The Traces comes from “secret’ gathering nodes that are unlocked when you connect to that parent node and then talk to the Node Manager and spend ~35 energy to unlock it. You should use a Human worker to gather the nodes since they have higher luck and more chances at getting the rare drop from the nodes which are the Traces. Additionally, you will need to have ~ 5 storage spaces as the nodes will also give you various junk items you can sell to vendors.
In addition to the Nodes, there are also dailies in Olvia that rewards you choices of Traces

Monk’s Branch and Spirit’s Leaf can also be obtained by farming crops while the rest are obtained rarely from logging trees manually if you are Gathering Skilled 5+.
There are also dailies in Olvia that will reward you these tree byproducts as well.
Bloody Tree Knot
Monk’s Branch
Old Tree Bark
Red Tree Lump
Spirit’s Leaf
Tree Saps
You will be gathering plenty of Tree Saps for your alchemy needs. Most of the sap can be acquired from the Olvia/Florin area as they contain almost all types of trees except Cedar and certain trees native to Mediah. Here is a map of the tree locations made by Cupcake.
Getting saps will be easier if you can recognize the various tree types.
Acacia, Cedar and White Cedar are found in large abundance in Mediah (semi-desert area east of Heidel).
Simple Alchemy
Simple Alchemy is a tab in the Processing Window (L) where you can make Herb Juices that act as MP/WP/SP potions and are even better than the Large Mana Potions you can purchase off vendors.
Herbal Juice
This is the lowest tier and restores your MP/WP/SP by +125. All you need is 3x Wild Herbs (any, even weeds work) and 1x Mineral Water (purchased from the cooking vendor). You cannot select the amount in the Simple Alchemy window so just dump everything in it and just move your character once you decided that enough has been produced.
Concentrated Herbal Juice
You can produce this either by making 3x Herbal Juice via Simple Alchemy or you can mass produce it with 30x Herbal Juice and 1x Salt which saves you a ton of energy.
High-Concentrated Herbal Juice
This is the equivalent of the Large MP potion. You can make this by using 3x Concentrated Herbal Juice or mass produce it via 30x Concentrated Herbal Juice and 1x Salt.
Refined Herbal Juice
This is better than any MP potion you can purchase from the vendors. Same formula apply – 3x High-Concentrated Herbal Juice or 30x and 1x Salt.
Party Elixirs
You can now make elixirs that grants its benefits to the entire party via simple alchemy. All you need is 2x of the same elixir and Tear of Aal that can be purchased from material vendors.
- Party Elixirs lasts for 10 or 15 minutes depending on if they are green or blue quality and have a cooldown of 1 minute.
Upgrading Elixirs
Upgrading green quality to blue quality elixirs is now possible as well with simply alchemy. All you need is to place 3 of the green quality elixir into simply alchemy and it will have a chance to make a blue quality elixir. This does not work for party elixirs and you must upgrade the single version first if you want to make the blue quality party elixirs.
Alchemy Subcomponents
This section will cover all the bloods, oils and other alchemy subcomponents.
Remember you can substitute bloods and Wild Grass = Weed. You may need to substitute 1-5 weed per Wild Grass depending on your alchemy level.
- Blood Group 1: Wolf, Flamingo, Rhino, Cheetah Dragon
- Blood Group 2: Deer, Sheep, Goat, Cow, Pig, Ox, Waragon
- Blood Group 3: Weasel, Fox, Raccoona
- Blood Group 4: Bear, Troll, Ogre
- Blood Group 5: Worm, Lizard, Bat, Kuku

The green version of Elixirs you commonly produce have a duration of 5 mins with 5 mins cooldown while the higher quality blue version that is produced sometimes as a byproduct have 8 mins duration (same cooldown).

Hey Dulfy, thanks for this very nice guide.
Platinum can be gathered by workers as a rare drop (human worker advised) from the zinc node in the Abandonned Iron Mine in Mediah.
I also think I’ve got some from the zinc node in Omar’s Lava Cave but I’ll have to check it tomorrow.
If you plan on doing a guide for Alchemy Stones, I’ve done and upgraded (or at least tried to, damn RNG^^) quite a lot of them and I’ve written down some numbers (xp by ingredients for polishing). I’ll be happy to share them with you if you’re interested.
Thank you, I will add the bit about platinum in. I would be happy to receive the numbers for alchemy stones as well 🙂
I’ll second what Eky said about the Omar Lava Cave – it has a Zinc node, and it’s secondary drop is Platinum. I’ve been farming both it and the Abandoned Iron Mine one to get materials for my reform stones. =)
Added thank you!
Ok, so no need to confirm for Omar Lava Cave (But I do^^)
I’ve sent you my Alchemy Stones data via email.
Wow, great work as always. Thanks
Are you sure about the 10x melted shard for the weapon crystals. i think thats an old translation error from the foundry. 2 melted shards are enough afaik
I took the recipe info from BDdatabase which I assume are datamined and therefore somewhat accurate.
There is no experience of elixir. The experience elixir gives 10% combat exp for 5 minutes. Why are you guides always full with false informations?.
FYI: Rough Opals can be gathered by worker in Mediah Shore copper mine.
Good grief, you are amazing! Even just the mushroom part with pictures of exactly where to go.. for some reason I was searching and searching and couldn’t find the best place for cloud mushroom >< This will help so much. I always think your guides are best BTW!
Khuruto cave node doesn’t provide powder of earth, however Behr Riverhead should. I’ll be able to confirm in a couple hours when I get a few worker cycles in.
Thanks corrected
Fantastic guide, thanks so much! I’m wondering if anyone knows how to trigger the quests in Glish? I have high gathering (skilled 10 I think) but only get a quest to make a medium health potion.
Not sure if you figured this out Botan, but I had the same issue. Had to change the filter on the on-screen quest window to include alchemy quests. Not sure how it got disabled.
Crom’s Castle is Northeast of Veila
The Magic Crystal of Infinity – Valor gem requires Fruit of Destruction, not Sun.
http://bddatabase.net/us/recipe/4/ seems to be wrong. The quest text of http://bddatabase.net/us/quest/2100/152/ and a commenter on the recipe states 4 sap and 4 mushrooms which do not work for me either. I’m skilled 1 atm.
Thanks so much for this great guide and all the guides you do!
A lot of Silk Honey Grass at Rhua Tree Stub to the NW, Fire Flakes also. Couldn’t find any at the listed node in the guide.
I place my alchemy in Florin with a container (containers in florin link to Olivia). Florin has lots of easy herb gathering from teh baskets, and if you go over the mountains itis only a short distance for olivia questing.
I’ve been experimenting with the new Valencia bloods, and came up with the following results:
Scorpion blood belongs in Group 3 (Weasel, Fox, Raccoon)
Lion blood belongs in Group 4 (Bear, Troll, Ogre)
Cobra blood belongs in Group 5 (Worm, Lizard, Bat, Kuku)
Thanks for the great guides!
Fantastic guide, thank you!
Awesome guide! I have one more thing to say. You said Sunrise Herb can be gathered at Cron Castle’s node that is on the East side of Heidel. It’s North-East of Velia, you might want to edit that. If i find anything else wrong i’ll let you know 😛
Great reference, thanks so much.
I’ve confirmed through several harvests that Fruit of Magic Power also drops when Tiger mushrooms are harvested. I found their hypha relatively easy to obtain compared to Emperor which I have never succeeded in collecting in the wild.
So in the end ‘Metal solvent’ is made with shards or ingots?
amazing guide thanks for making it, will you be updating the new components from valencia which have been shared here in the comments section? thanks

database says grim reapers elixir is
1x oil of fortitude
4x powdered reagent
2x sky mushroom
2x monks branch
4x trace of origin
Did 200 procs with this recipe and worked fine
As much as I would like it to be 3 x trace of origin it seems its not D:
Can you tell me the apox number of CP i’ll have to invest, if ofc there’s a way to calculate it. Or if its easier wath path of final products should i choose (which are better to level up, which to make cash selling in ah, etc…). I hope its not a stupid question… thank you in advance
I’ve been working on the quest that requires you to make an Elixir of Amity. Twice it has failed and, of course, removed the ingredients. I thought the first time I had messed up the recipe, but the second time I make certain it was correct. 1 Legendary Beast’s blood, 5 fire flake flowers, 3 black stone power and 6 ash sap. I’ve googled the recipe to make sure the quest recipe was correct because it has been wrong, but it appears that it’s the proper recipe. Any ideas? My character is Alchemy Skilled 8.
Please tell me how to get “Low grade Crystal Fusion” “Excellent Opportunities For Change” “Infinite Opportunities for Change” and “Terrific Opportunities for Change” I’ve looked everywhere and cant seem to get those three knowledges.
