Structured Player vs. Player
League Placement Divisions
We’ve added an automatic division-placement system to PvP Leagues for Season 3. A player’s starting division for each new season will be determined by their performance from the previous season. This will help players face more equally skilled opponents from the very start of the season. It also allows them to reach their intended division quicker so that they can spend more time improving their skills in more even matches for a longer portion of the season.
Division placement for Season 3 will occur as follows:

  • Legendary and Diamond Division players will start the new season in Sapphire.
  • Ruby and Sapphire Division players will start the new season in Emerald.
  • Emerald and Amber Division players will start the new season in Amber.
  • Players must have played at least one match during the previous season to qualify for automatic division placement in the new season.
  • Rewards from skipped divisions will be awarded after players play one match in the new season.

League Matchmaking
Season 2 matchmaking was changed from Season 1 Ranked and Unranked matchmaking to help ensure league positions correlated more with skill instead of simply being based on the hours played. These changes saw a multitude of improvements for Season 2, but unfortunately they also spread out win rates further than we would have liked, as matches became a bit too uneven. We’ve created a new matchmaker for Season 3 that will strike a balance between the two previous seasons, accomplishing the same goals of accuracy from Season 2 but doing so with the evenness of matches that players experienced in Season 1.

  • Health bars, player outlines, target selection arrows, and ground indicators now match team colors.
  • Neutral NPCs now all use yellow indicators.

Build Panel

  • Removed the Mercenary’s Amulet.
  • The Viper’s Amulet is now free to all players. Anyone who previously purchased the Viper’s Amulet will receive a refund for their purchase.

  • Improved the secondary mechanic messaging for Forest of Niflhel, Temple of the Silent Storm, and Spirit Watch maps by adding new event timers to the UI.
  • Added basic season statistics to the Leagues tab of the PvP panel.
  • Added tooltips to the Division panel to show individual tier rewards.
  • Since the teleport was removed, the task bar will now flash and horn audio will play when the game is preparing so players are reminded of the match starting.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed necromancers to acquire weapon skills while holding the Spirit Orb in Conquest mode in Spirit Watch.

World vs. World

  • Collapsed guild camp upgrades into a single tier.
    • Tier II tactivators have been removed.
    • Assault Roller, Packed Dolyaks, and Speedy Dolyaks are now tier I camp upgrades.
    • Centaur Banner, Dragon Banner, Turtle Banner, and Iron Guards are no longer camp upgrades.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Heart of Maguuma reward track from unlocking after completing the Tangled Depths reward track.

Alpine Borderlands

  • Fixed a bug that prevented the orange crossed-swords marker from displaying to indicate locations of heavy player combat.
  • Capturing ruins now properly counts toward the Daily Master of Monuments achievement.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Heroics Notary vendor from spawning in citadels on the Alpine borderlands map.

New Items and Promotions

  • A new set of Cavalier weapon skins is available from the Black Lion Weapons Specialist for 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket, for a limited time. Unlocking any Cavalier weapon skin in your wardrobe will automatically unlock another version that displays your active guild’s emblem.
  • Six new, exclusive hair colors have been added to Total Makeover Kits and Self-Style Hair Kits, which are available in the Services category of the Gem Store.

  • The Black Lion Trading Company has hired an aesthetician who allows players to preview new hairstyles, faces, and other appearance details without needing to own a Total Makeover Kit. In order to confirm any changes, players must have a Total Makeover Kit in their inventory. Aesthetician Kristina can be found in the front room of the Black Lion Vaults in Lion’s Arch.

Bug Fixes

  • The Cook’s Outfit has returned to the Gem Store, found in the Style category for 700 gems.

Finaly!!! *-*

Right!? So nice to be able to decide whether or not you want the new hair before invisting in a kit!

My ascension! My sweet ascension! Now I have to grind against skilled pvpers instead or pummelling some amber league noobs for loose achievement points. Life is just not fair 🙁

Got to diamond last season so that I wouldn’t have to get there ever again (until the next legendary pvp backpack). The issue is the achievements which require X wins with 3 classes. I can only play one class really well and another one moderately. So many games are going to get wiped while I try finish the last class achieves 🙁

The ultimate goal of GW2 is to get full legendary gear – so you never have to play GW2 ever again. Much playing is required to get there.

Believe it or not I don’t care too much about legendary gear. I’m mainly in the game to do something else while doing alts. I tried raiding but everyone is still too damn picky on what class and build you are running. I understand some bosses require this or that but I am steering clear of raiding as its showing me almost the same attitude as most raiders have back over on WoW. I don’t care for that kind of shit.

You can relog onto another class on ~450 pts and grab the win while you play your favourite class for the majority of the game.

That’s clever, but… might that not be considered as “match manipulation” by rules sticklers? I have no issue with it myself if players want to swap chars, but I just know that some players are going to get mad about it, especially if a match is close.

Opposed to play the game with a class you’re absolute dogshit with, ultimately ruining the game for everyone in your team & denying yourself that win you needed? Im sure which one I prefer, be it me or anyone in my team. As for the “legal” matters, no exploit is used in order to do this so in that regard it’s no issues either.

The reason I wrote that you should log as late as possible is just to minimize the time you don’t play (your good class). If course, if the score is very even you may not want to log.

How are they punishing you exactly? The only way i could see it as a punishment is if you got to that high rank by leeching or paying. Other then that it should be a big improvement for the so called pvp lovers. You get matched with good players, you get to start close to where you left off INSTEAD of starting from 0, and you even get all rewards (incl achievements) for the divisions that you skipped by placing higher.

At first I also thought it was a nerf, but on reading further it sounds like if you made it to a high division, then get put into Sapphire at the start of this one, after playing one match you automatically receive all the rewards for every single tier in Amber and Emerald. If this presumably also counts towards achievement progress, then I have no issues. My only concern was that, since all I have left is 2 division crosses to complete The Ascension, it would be much harder to get to Diamond again rather than just complete Amber and Emerald in Season 3.

I still haven’t confirmed that this is actually how it works, so we’ll see.

I only needed one more division cross to get the backpiece, and upon playing my match (And getting placed into Sapphire) it counts you as completing the other two divisions, so any achievements linked were filled. Should work the same for you.

I can confirm it. Tested it last night. I received both “item” rewards AND it also counted towards the achievement for ex, before the next match i was 1/4. After 1 match i got all items and i jumped to 2/4

Yep, it does count. After my first match today, it jumped me to Sapphire and gave me all the rewards for Amber + Emerald, and completed the last achievement. I am now the proud owner of The Ascension. 😀

“The 32-bit client will now automatically switch to the 64-bit client if the conditions appear favorable.”
Which conditions would that be? I hope it’s not ‘if you are on a 64-bit operating system’ because the 64-bit client lags like hell on my computer while the 32-bit client runs very smooth and fast. ):

And how do I switch it back to 32 Bit versio so I can play? instead of lookang at a loading screen?

Purple, another commenter, solved it

Make a GW2 shortcut, open its properties and add -32 to target. For example:

“C:Program Files (x86)Guild Wars 2Gw2.exe” -32

Any method how to force the client to 32bit? It seems that my “conditions appear favorable” (probably only the 64bit OS) and as a result my FPS dropped below playable level. I would appreciate help in this matter.
