Black Desert Wagon and Wagon Parts Guide

A guide to all the wagons in Black Desert Online and their respective parts.

General Intro

Wagons

Wagons are used primarily for trading and hose training. There are 8 different wagons you can craft/purchase with vast differences in the amount of cargo they can carry. Much like ships, wagons also have a finite amount of time it can be used before it breaks down. This is represented by the lifespan, which is not to be confused with the durability (health) of the wagon that can be repaired at stables or with a wagon repair kit.

bdo-wagons

Merchant Wagon and White Wagon can be only made with the Wagon Workshop in Altinova. Trade Wagon can be only made with the Wagon Workshop in Calpheon. Filmsy, Shabby and Farm Wagons can be simply brought from the stable NPC for 35k, 100k, and 180k respectively.

Wagon Horses Wheels Speed Durability Lifespan Weight Inventory Slots Impact Absorber
Filmsy 1 2 100% 3600 148,501 270 6 70
Shabby 1 2 110% 4100 247,501 360 8 80
Strong 1 2 110% 4600 495,001 450 10 80
White 1 2 110% 5100 990,001 540 12 80
Farm 2 4 100% 5600 247,501 630 14 80
Trade 2 4 100% 6100 495,001 720 16 80
Merchant 4 4 100% 6600 990,001 810 18 80
Noble 4 4 95% 7100 990,001 900 20 80

You can connect your horses to your wagons in the stable and train them much like you would train an individual horse. The differences is that you can train multiple horses at once and you don’t have to feed them carrots to replenish their stamina. Your only limitation will be the lifespan of your wagon as this decreases steadily with usage.

Wagon Speed is based on the wagon only and has nothing to do with the horses you attached to the wagon.

The weight limit affects how much good you can carry. If you are carrying goods over the weight limit, there is a good chance that some of the goods will be destroyed if you hit a bump in the road. This is also reflected in the Impact Absorber rating.

Wagons can be damaged by Bandits and other players if you are Level 45+. If this happens, you will need to restore its Durability by using the recovery option in Stables or purchase a High-Quality Wagon Repair Kit from Stable NPCs for 2000 silvers. This will increase your durability by 1000 with a cooldown of 5 mins.

Wagon Parts

All wagons can be outfitted with 5 different wagon parts to enhance speed and carry weight. The wagon parts are divided into two categories: 2-wheeled wagons and 4-wheeled wagons. You can use any of the 2-wheeled wagon parts on the 2-wheeled wagons but you cannot use them on 4-wheeled wagons and vice versa.

  • Filmsy/Shabby/Strong/White Wagons can use Shabby/Strong/White Wagon components interchangeably.
  • Farm/Trade/Merchant/Noble Wagons can use Farm/Trade/Merchant/Noble components interchangeably.

Additionally, wagon components for different wagons have different stats. A Noble Wheel Wagon would increase wagon speed by 2% while a White Wagon Wheel would increase wagon speed 3%. White Wagons seems to have the most effective wagon parts in terms of stats.

To equip a wagon part, simply press F2 near your wagon to open the Mount Information window and then click on the wagon parts in your inventory to equip them.

  • Cover – DP & Trade item stability (10-34)
  • Flag – Increase wagon’s DP (10-20)
  • Lamp – Increase wagon’s DP (12) and give off light.

Crafting Wagon & Wagon Parts

Wagons and Wagon Parts can be crafted via the Wagon Workshop and the Wagon Parts Workshop respectively. While Wagon Workshops can be found in Olvia, Velia, Heidel, Calpheon, and Altinova, the best locations for them are in Calpheon and Altinova. They are the only cities currently are Tier 3 Wagon Workshops, as rest of the cities only have Tier 1 (Olvia, Velia) or Tier 2 (Heidel). Tier 1 and 2 workshops aren’t really worth it as everything that can be crafted there can be brought for cheaper from the stable vendors.

  • Olvia (Tier 1): Shabby and Filmsy
  • Velia (Tier 1): Shabby and Filmsy
  • Heidel (Tier 1, 2): Strong and Filmsy, Farm
  • Calpheon (Tier 1, 2, 3): Strong and Filmsy, Trade, Noble
  • Altinova (Tier 1, 2, 3): White and Filmsy, Merchant, Noble.

Calpheon Wagon Workshop requires 14 Contribution Points to set up while the one in Altinova requires 11 Contribution Points. The workshop in Altinova is much better as it allow you to craft the Merchant Wagons that are almost as good as the Noble Wagon but much cheaper.

bdo-wagon-workshop-calpheonbdo-wagon-workshop-altinova

Like the boat workshops, Wagon Workshops require require its components to be processed individually. This means that to be time efficient you really have to use more than one worker. You can assign as many workers as you want, as long the workers are from the city that is connected to the city with the Wagon Workshop via nodes. This also means that you can start the wagon crafting processing before you have all the materials as the workers can just work on the materials you have.

bdo-wagon-workshop-crafting

Wagon Parts require all the components to be present but you only need a single worker to craft them. There are three tiers of Wagon Parts Workshop and which one you need depends on what wagon parts you trying to craft.

  • Tier 1: Shabby/Farm Wagon parts
  • Tier 2: Strong/White/Trade wagon parts
  • Tier 3: Merchant/Noble wagon parts

Heidel, Calpheon and Altinova all have Tier 3 Wagon Parts Workshop. Heidel and Calpheon Wagon Parts Workshop costs 11 Contribution Points while the one in Altinova costs 13 Contribution Points.

Filmsy Wagon

Appearance

bdo-filmsy-wagon

Acquisition

The easiest and cheapest way to obtain the Filmsy Wagon is buying it off the stable NPC for 35k. You can of course craft it via the Wagon Workshop in Velia/Olvia/Heidel/Calpheon/Altinova but it is a huge waste of mats and time.

bdo-filmsy-wagon-acquisitionbdo-filmsy-wagon-acquisition-2

To craft it you would need the following. Note that the better Shabby Wagon costs the same mats to craft as the Filmsy Wagon so there is absolutely no reason to craft the Filmsy Wagon at all.

  • 1x Wagon Horse (purchased from any stable NPC)
  • 3x Ash Plywood (150 Ash Timber made into 30 Ash Planks and then into 3 Plywoods)
  • 3x Bronze Ingot (30x Melted Copper Shard, 30x Melted Tin Shard)
  • 5x Fox Hide
  • 3x Black Stone Powder

Stats

Stats wise it has 6 slots and a maximum weight limit of 270 LT. It also has the lowest Impact Absorption of any wagon, at a rating of 70 compared to 80 in other wagons. Lifespan is the lowest at 148,501 as you can expect.

The Noble Wagon, as you can expect, has the best stats out of any wagon. However, with its price point, it is designed for serious traders only as it doesn’t offer as much of an upgrade from the much cheaper Merchant Wagon (extra 2 slots and 90 LT) while being slightly slower. You can expect 20 inventory slots and a maximum carrying weight of 900 LT with a lifespan of 990,001.

Thanks Dulfy, very detailed and a great guide as per usual. Another one for the bookmarks

  • narg

are wagons worth of crafting, or its better farm gold and buy them ?? or its worth build wagons and sell them for profit (if possible idk)

    • I think the mats costs more than the wagons so seems better to buy them

      • Depends a whole lot on which wagon you are looking at. The article doesn’t state it, but the Merchant Wagon is probably the best overall, with much better material requirements compared to the Noble Wagon.

Noble is hurt by the Sturdy Pine Plywood, while the Merchant just uses Acadia Plywood, Brass Ingots, and Soft Hide. Brass is the toughest there, made a whole lot easier by the recent processing change.

Both wagons have 4 horse spots, and the Merchant Wagon has two less trade good spots than the Noble, and better overall stats.

    • BM

For the merchant wagon, buying the mats off the market costs me about half what it would to just buy the wagon itself.

  • me

most things in this game you can’t make money at unless you farm the mats

You should also note, wagons reduce horse xp gained per tick, and training experience (gained by the player) is divided by each horse attached to the wagon – thus significantly less than solo training.

The wagon prevents horse death (as the wagon loses durability, not the horses) – so even if the wagon is destroyed by enemies, or by the landscape (drowning, falling from a cliff, etc.) the death doesn’t register for horses attached to a wagon. Thus, if you’re out leveling it may be worthwhile to bring a white wagon, as it’s swift, yet can prevent your horse from racking up deaths if you’re careless with where you park it.

Leveling horses on a wagon is only worthwhile if you have 4 horses connected, and while it takes longer to get a horse to 30 on a wagon, leveling four on a wagon takes less time (supposedly) than leveling them each individually. So, it takes longer, but you’ll have four horses ready to breed as opposed to one or two.

Since 4 horse items are interchangeable. If I put Noble parts on a Merchant Wagon, will it take on the looks of a Noble or a Merchant Wagon? In addition, maybe I’m wrong but it looks easier to craft Noble parts as most materials are within Velia and Heidel with the exception of Legendary Beasts Blood. Just curious about others opinions.

    • If you put Noble parts on a merchant wagon, it will look like mostly a wagon decked out with Noble parts. The wagon stats are still merchant wagon though.

Hiya, Dulfy! Thanks for all the hard work, your guides are awesome!

Minor correction: In the White, Merchant and Noble Wagon entries, you break down the brass ingots as requiring 10 shards each of copper and zinc, when it’s 5 shards each. Ditto for bronze ingots in the Flimsy/Shabby entries, for copper and tin.

    Cheers!

    • All of them, make sure the stable is not full.

      • Zinkaiser
