SWTOR Game Update 5.1.2 Patch Notes

SWTOR Patch Notes for Game Update 5.1.2, scheduled to arrive after maintenance on Feb 28 5 AM to 8 AM PST.

General

  • An item to turn off event experience gains can now be purchased off the vendor located next to the Skill Mentor in the combat training district of the Republic and Imperial fleets. This buff lasts for a duration of 8 hours and can be removed by right clicking the buff icon.
  • Classes that use Lightsabers or Dualsabers are now able to use the Missile Blast ability when morphed during the Trench Runner Uprising.
  • Players who are below level 70 can no longer use a Command Experience Boost when bolstered to Level 70.
  • Galactic Starfighter Requisition is now rewarding at a 250% rate.
  • The size of the purple background behind the player indicator on the map has been reduced in size. Additionally, other players are no longer hidden behind the background.
  • The Achievement for completing Knights of the Fallen Empire Chapter IX in Master Mode now grants as expected.
  • The Dark vs. Light Armor Set no longer bolsters to higher than intended stats in Warzones.
  • Players who leave a Group Finder group after completing a Veteran Mode Uprising are no longer locked out of the Group Finder.
  • Free-to-Play chat restrictions have been adjusted in order to help address third-party service advertisement spam.
  • Opponent area of effect indicators no longer appear as green in Warzones.
  • Fixed an issue in the Trench Runner Uprising that allowed General Amos Rike to be defeated multiple times.
  • It is no longer possible to remove a Command Experience Boost by right-clicking the buff icon.
  • The Wings of the Architect vehicle now has a corresponding Decoration.
  • The Tier 1 Bounty Hunter offhand weapon now requires an Unassembled Offhand Token as intended.
  • Command Experience Boosts purchased from the Fleet vendors can no longer be purchased before Level 70.
  • It is now possible to use chairs on the bridge of Player ships once again.
  • The sound effect that plays when selecting a Planetary Mission from the Galactic Command interface no longer persists after area transition.
  • A Groove Sensor repairman has been dispatched to address a malfunctioning Droid at the Alliance Base.

Flashpoints + Operations

  • Operations now provide significantly increased Command Experience Points.
  • Increased Command Experience earned from boss and mini-boss encounters.
  • Total command experience earned for a full clear has been adjusted on a per-Operation basis.
  • Weekly Missions have also had their Command Experience increased.
  • Flashpoint and Uprising Weekly Mission’s Command Point gain have been increased significantly.
  • All Flashpoint Mission Command Experience rewards have been increased.
  • The Modified Turbolasers in the Assembler encounter in the Directive 7 Flashpoint no longer grant Command Experience.
  • Story Mode Flashpoints are no longer listed in the Group Finder.
  • Fixed a number of Achievements for Master Mode Red Reaper.
  • The “Rain of Pain” ability used by B0-55 in The Ravagers Operation no longer grants Command Experience.

Missions + NPCs

  • Removed obsolete Commendation rewards from a small number of Missions.

Warzones

  • Ranked and Unranked Daily and Weekly Missions now award a fixed number of Unassembled components for completion.
  • Increased the amount of Unassembled Components earned for a win or loss during Ranked and Unranked Warzones.
  • The Medal tooltip in Unranked Warzones no longer mentions Season Commendations.

    Story Mode Flashpoints are no longer listed in the Group Finder.

    So there’s only HM/Veteran FPs in the GF? Why?

      I think you still get Master Mode in GF. I think Story Mode is equivalent to Solo Mode if I’m not mistaken.

        Indeed it is, but since 5.1 they had mistakenly listed Veteran as Story and Master as Veteran for some reason. I am guessing that now it will return to Veteran and Master, as it should have been.

        There are so many parts of the game where the words Story, Veteran, Master mean so many different things, and so many parts that have the wrong use of the word, that one wonders why they had to change it from Story Mode, Hard Mode and Nightmare Mode. Everything worked so much better when we had these terms.

          SWTOR, Always a game to copy what others are doing, saw that many other games cal their difficulty levels, Normal, Veteran, Master, Mythic etc and decided that they would follow suit.
          That is my guess anyway.

      Story Mode is the solo-friendly version isn’t it? It’d be pointless to have a GF when you can just enter yourself.

      I also like to get that line clarified. Story mode isnt necessarily solo mode. Entering a group FP is not the same as a story mode FP. These new names messed up the system.
      Awhile ago we had storymode, hardmode and nightmare. Now we have storymode, veteran and master. Now they will remove storymodes from group finder. So how will players queue for storymode FPs as a group? Will they have to search manually and enter the FP manually?

        Is it really this confusing for you? GF incorrectly labels veteran mode FPs as story mode and master mode as veteran mode. When you queue for story mode FPs, you are queueing for veteran mode, and when you queue for veteran mode FPs you queueing for master mode. You have never been able to queue for actual story (i.e., solo) mode FPs. If you never noticed this, then you must not ever do FPs via GF, in which case, why do you care?

          I never heard of this issue before and yes, this sounds confusing to me when its phrased like that.
          When I often queued for storymode FPs, I thought it was for story mode group FPs because it said everywhere that its story mode and group content right after entering it. Why would I assume otherwise?
          And story mode doesnt necessarily mean solo mode. There are story mode OPs but they arent for solo players, are they?

          This mess exists because hardmode and nightmare had to be renamed to make it appear things changed.

      i thought story mode wasnt in GF at all, it was just a typo where it should say “veteran”

    Well now I’m worried, while scammers and the like are pretty annoying – sounds like this is also going to hurt F2P players who legitimatley want to play the game.

      pretty sure they officially lost what little care they had for f2p players when they removed weekly passes. and the fact that they had to go f2p just to bolster population numbers? oh, who cares about that right? when they can just milk the few subscribers they have left via cartel market.

        i was an f2p for a couple months, then i got gifted enough to be a preferred and i did plenty good until kotet released and i subbed for the expansions and ops.
        obviously this game is meant to be played as a sub, its not made to be enjoyed on the same level as an f2p, and while i criticize that, starting as an f2p helped me realize that, in my case, i would very much like to try and sub since i liked the game and star wars so much.

        if the f2p model hadnt existed, i wouldnt had known it was worth subbing in the first place. thats clearly the intent. not ideal, but it worked for me

          the same can be accomplished with a trial that is actualy called a trial. f2p usual means that game can be FULLY PLAYED as f2p. in case of swtor, its a highly restricted trial that they are calling f2p, but its a trial, nothing more. and even as preferred with all unlocks its only really playable while leveling (if you don’t mind not having acess to at least half the quest rewards, since f2p and preferred accounts cannot receive boxes that so many quest rewards come as). nowadays you cannot progress at max level as preferred anymore, because passes no longer exist, and majority of the rewards are locked behind subscription. original intent as I understood it, was to bolster population number. since subscribers had fewer and fewer people to play with. and we just came full circle to that again. because that makes sense. drive away people from already shrinking population.

      You laugh at that but you should have seen how many threads there were on the forums complaining about that bug and how it was “gamebreaking” and made the game unplayable.

    I know this is a stupid question… But what about the escape pods in our ships? What are they there for?

      If you stuck on your or your friend ship you can use them to exit. I only did this once. Seems first versions of this game were unstable and this is solution for this bug. Now when everything more stable escape pods just there.

      Ships have escape pods in case you are in someone else’s ship when you log off and they left their ship in “space” when they log off. Which could happen if you joined them to help them on a class mission on a ship or station away from the main worlds. When you log back in, you can’t pilot their ship anywhere, and the boarding ramp has nowhere to exit to.

      If you are over level 10 you could shuttle to Fleet. If you or your guild has a stronghold you could shuttle there. But if you’re a new player, still below level 10, guildless, and without a stronghold, you’d be stuck until the ship owner logs in and pilots their ship somewhere.

      Hence the escape pods. It lets visitors leave a ship and return to Fleet without the owner needing to be online. I’ve never had the opportunity to try it so I don’t know if it has an animation. Now I am curious.

        How many cases of people being stuck on someone elses ship were there? And with legacy strongholds, I think this feature is slightly useless.

          In the Beta it was fairly common. Friends would team up to help each other through class missions, log out and then the guest would get stuck. With strongholds, it’s not often needed now but I don’t think the devs have any incentive to remove it.

        Only time I’ve used it was when a friend started up one of the starfox style space missions while i was on their ship, and it was the only way out, it dumped me off at the fleet.

      back when swtor started it was a multi player game, the escape pod was put there for you to leave someone elses ship if they started a space mission with you in there

    If aoe circles now red for opponents in warzones, i hope in every other activities too? In assault on tython fp for example first boss, its hard to tell its his or our aoe damage, and he hits hard on hm. Other fps too.

    I would be generally OK with CXP and RNG if I could get like 10 or so crates for SM Operation and 15 or more for HM, and maybe 20 for NiM. This way just doing 6-7 operations per week (some in HM) on 1 toon would give me 70 to 100 CXP levels. This would kill the grind and allowed to again enjoy the content. I know this is 2+ old content, but I still enjoy doing some operations and PVP. Doing pug SM runs these days is like HM/NiM with the guild team, so many new unexperienced players in every run.

      “They keep falling behind” XD

      Note: It would seem that companions lagging behind is only a visual glitch. They can heal you or attack enemies next to you while they appear far away. Also, only you see them far away, while another player sees them right next to you.

        Not all the time they heal. During the Iokath chapter, when the droids attack, Vette was far and could not receive the healing.

        Mnoo, not only visual.
        On my scoundrel, Corso was aggroing a bunch of mobs far away thanks to lagging behind when I popped out of stealth.
        Our companions always catch up to us though…after a few seconds.

            Companion pathing have always been a little sketchy, but lately it’s just bizarre o.O

    The first time I noticed that (and died to) an enemy aoe was green, and saw green on the ground, I thought it was intended

      They clearly stated in their stream that the new Operation boss would be in 5.2 and would be released late march/early april. Not 5.1.2 in February.

          It’s the first boss of a 5-boss operation. Which is still sad. My guess is, they will be releasing one boss every 1.5-2 months. So realistically we aren’t getting a full Operation until probably October-December, if you want the whole thing.

    They do realize that IX is 9 correct? As in Chap 9: The Alliance. As in, the one that’s entirely cutscenes and never had a veteran or master mode in the first place.

    i think it would be better if they included 1 random item from the cartel market with these command crates. it gets annoying getting the same mk-1 /mk-2 items over and over and over, would be nice if they’d throw in different armor from cartel packs with the same stats i’d be fine with that.

      Strange : I did get Elara back with the terminal (but I dit it as soon as they offered the opportunity). Well, I won’t spoil, but according to datamining, Elara will come back soon and will have an important role.

        Ah they flat out said Elara and Quinn come back with Iokath dailies in the last stream.

        I had Elara but since 5.12 she is locked out, but its only on my commando who has finished KoteT.

    wow… yesterday I did Hammer Station (veteran mode) to farm some crafting mats and at the end : +4200 cxp (with D vs L bonus).

    It was a shock :3 But I think it’s really a good move. Sure, I always have to cope with RNG, but still…

    So… In your opinion guys, what will happend when 5.2 land ? End of CXP bonus (that would be stupid, but heh…. remember companions nerf and then immediately rebuff at 4.0….) or will they leave it as it is now ?

    Anyway, two days of sub remaining :3

        You’re certainly right. But heh… remember the companion nerf/rebuff. With Bioware, everything is possible (even rank 15000 for Tier 150 :3 )

      its part of the coming 5.2 update around/in April . Some sort of mission where you choose to either side with Elara or Quinn and get whichever as a companion after.

    Officially cancelled my sub…. Nothing but love for the game but the addiction to play is gone… Hope those on Harbinger and Ebon Hawk enjoyed my armor set dump of 10k a pop, 600k escrows at 5k a pop and +41 crystals at 5k a pop … It’s been fun, but my new addiction is Horizon Zero Dawn and the new Mass effect to come in 19 days.

      Just as an aside:

      HZD really needs and deserves a PC port!! (I’d be so there if it had one already.)

      (I have very high hopes, but also very grave misgiving re– Mass Effect: Andromeda. Grave enough that, at the very least there’s no way in Hell I’ll even consider pre-ordering or buying before at least a couple months have passed post-launch. Been burnt by EA/Bio quite enough, thanks!)

    Dulfy, I cancelled my sub about 1 year ago – reason as a master craftsman it was impossible or close to impossible to craft unless one did raids etc, my guild was made of friends but an insufficient number to do raids etc – my question being out of the game is this – IS there room for a solo player to improve his crafting in 2017 in my eyes the title master Craftsman should be called Jack of all trades MASTER of None – thinking of returning BUT has crafting got potential? – Thanks

      Actually now, crafting has potential via PVP and Commanding Crates (which you ern like levels above the 70th lvl cap). During the process of griniding command ranks you are given schematics (random drop from crates), also you can acquire them from Operation Drops basing on an operation’s difficulty. So if you are dedicated crafter only played time and luck stand on your way to learn to craft 240 ranked items. So I think yes as a solo now you are able to learn to craft most valuable items in the game but in guild/group it is way easier and faster.

        thanks for taking time out to reply, much appreciated but doubt it will be easier to craft now as when I left, ops and raids for drops are best done in a guild, as u then get to know who is who in the guild/make friends etc – group finder you can get thrown in with those with experience and have NO patience /time for newbies – will do more research – again many thanks
