SWTOR Crisis on Umbara Gameplay and Rewards

Bioware has published a new blog detailing the rewards you can get from Crisis on Umbara flashpoint coming with Game Update 5.4.

The traitor who attempted to murder the Alliance Commander has been tracked to Umbara, where they’re smuggling Adegan crystals for an unknown plot. Hijack the hover-train carrying the crystal shipment and confront the traitor before they can escape! You can read the short story ‘Trading Scars’ for more adventures on Umbara.

Getting into ‘Crisis on Umbara’

Your access to the ‘Crisis on Umbara’ Flashpoint will vary depending on your character level and the difficulty level you wish to play. Here are the requirements to access each mode of the Flashpoint:

  • Story Mode – You must have a level 70 character which has completed the War for Iokath storyline. You can grab the Mission for this Flashpoint from your ship terminal. This is the only version that is the continuation of the story from the War for Iokath.
  • Story Mode (repeatable) – You must have a level 70 character, completing War for Iokath is not a requirement. You can access this mode through Group Finder.
  • Veteran Mode – Any character between level 15-70 may queue for this Flashpoint through Group Finder. Characters from 15-69 will be bolstered to the appropriate power level.
  • Master Mode – Only level 70 characters can access this mode. If queueing for the Flashpoint through Group Finder, your character must have an average item rating of 242 or higher (as shown on your character sheet). Any pre-made 4-player group can simply zone into the Flashpoint regardless of item rating. This Flashpoint is intended for a balanced 4-player group of one tank, one healer, and two damage dealers.

Earn Unique Rewards

Crisis on Umbara not only pushes the story forward, it also offers one of the most unique Flashpoint rewards we have ever offered, a new Stronghold! By completing the Flashpoint on any difficulty, you will earn Alliance Recon Data. You will earn more data for completing the Flashpoint on higher difficulties. This data can be turned into a vendor for various rewards including crafting schematics, an armor set, a mount, and the keys to purchase a new Stronghold, the ‘Umbara Mobile Base.’

Once you have the key, you will be able to go to a new room in the Alliance HQ on Odessen and purchase the Stronghold as you normally would with credits or Cartel Coins.

New story, multiple ways to play, and brand new rewards. ‘Crisis on Umbara’ has a lot to offer as the newest Flashpoint in the game. So grab three friends, or your favorite Companion and jump aboard in Game Update 5.4 on August 22nd.

“This data can be turned into a vendor for various rewards including…. an armor set”

£20 says that armour set will be fuck ugly :’)

    • Jonathan Parker

Unless it’s from the Cartel Market or packs, that’s a pretty solid bet.

      • Harston

        I’ve seen it.
It’s… Meh, The helmet is pretty great though!

        • Jonathan Parker

          Where can you see it?

          • Harston

Torcommunity -> Items -> Umbaran Guardian

            • Jonathan Parker

Looks like they’re making an Old Republic style version of the Clone Wars Umbaran armor. White and blue, green visor, spider tanks, cool to see old versions of their tech.

              • Jonathan Parker

That’s actually pretty nice. Weird helmet, especially if the color can’t change, but I like the suits. Like a hybrid of light armor and a vac-suit, like the Umbarans from Clone Wars. I like it, could use that on my Trooper.

            • Darth Ji’inx

I think it has the chest on the far right:

    • $20 says that the armor will look really cool except for one glaring thing like a big dong hanging down between the legs or a big red light glued to the head or a big lego brick backpack or some dumb shit like that.

      • gua543

You just fail to grasp the power that lies in wearing giant shoulder pads.

        • Emprah

He just wishes to be an Ultramarine.

        • Fred Garvin

Not only bigger but shoulderpads that are flexible and bend with magic properties as you move your bulbous body around.

      • Jep Fareborn

        Shoulder pad or pauldron :p

      • Isla

$30 says it’s indistinguishable from several other armor sets already in game. If it’s the If it’s the space besties photo people are linking, then it’s confirmed. haha

  • curious

    Yay! Looking forward to it.

  • Sean

Where it says ‘finished the Iokath storyline’, does that mean doing all the dailies at least once, or just played thru the main story content prior to being sent to the mission terminal on the planet?

    • Darth Ji’inx

I would assume it means just the main story since some of the dailies never appear. Also, dailies are just meant to give rep without affecting the story.

    • Deshik

the story only, dailies are just grind

  • Errtai

    Sounds fun!

  • Jerry

average item rating (as shown on your character sheet).

    FINALLY!!!

  • CrumpetTrumpet

I was hoping they’d actually reveal a bit more about the rest of the vendor and not just hype up their nerftrain on the old story-railroad again. This and the “we’re not nerfing sawbone” doesn’t really feel like news.

    • Darth Ji’inx

Go to TORcommunity’s website > Database > Search “Umbaran Guardian” 😉

The icons remind me of the armor the Umbarans wore in The Clone Wars.

      • Errtai

        Couldn’t find it :(.

        • Darth Ji’inx

Don’t use the search bar at the very top of the page. After you click the Database button on the site’s toolbar, you’ll be taken to the database section, which has its own search bar. Use that one to search for “Umbaran Guardian.”

        • Darth Ji’inx

(It has the chest on the far right NPC)

  • dfdf@fdfd.vu

    Surprise me!
Give us a reputation armor that isn’t ugly.

    No they won’t.

    • Harston

      It’s not ugly, just meh.
      The helmet is nice though!

  • AshlaBoga

I like the jpeg names, “Cutie Pie” for the hideous beast and “Eek Spiders” for the giant robot with multiple legs.

i have a question and ill try not coming off as someone entitled. I am a prefered player of swtor i subbed for 2 months got to test the waters with Galactic command ranks on multiple alts even my main (without touching the Kotet expansion) whilst also completing said expansion. i didn’t particually like GC mainly the way it abuses the RNG, but here is my question. The War of Iokath that was the little mission you got either after you beat Kotet or got a toon to lv 70 right? it ended with choosing a side, discovering someone has betrayed you and you’re sent off to defeat several murder robot gods. now do i have to do the Ops? I frankly am not good with ops personally and drawing back to the fact that i am Prefered status. Now this is where i am definatly going to sound entitled. Do i have to Sub to do this Flashpoint? I have no problem with subbing but i just dont want it to be a waste, as was with GC (imo it was rushed and dumb). If i have to sub, O.K. If i dont even better cause then i can play more of the story i love.

    • Errtai

You don’t have to do the operation. Finishing the story on Iokath is enough to access this new flashpoint’s story mode.

      • Conner Davidson
