Class Changes: Annihilation Marauder / Watchman Sentinel | 09.22.2017, 01:19 PM
Hey everyone,

Below you will find the changes planned for Annihilation and Watchman in Game Update 5.5:

Quote:
Note: All changes below are currently in development and are subject to change before being released.

Marauder
Annihilation

  • Reduced Deadly Saber’s damage by 6%
  • Juyo Mastery now gives bleed effects an additional 1% critical hit chance per stack of Juyo Form, down from 2%,
  • The temporary bleed damage bonus applied by Annihilate due to the Devious Wounds passive has been reduced from 5% to 3%

Sentinel
Watchman

  • Reduced Overload Saber’s damage by 6%
  • Juyo Mastery now gives burn effects an additional 1% critical hit chance per stack of Juyo Form, down from 2%,
  • The temporary burn damage bonus applied by Merciless Slash due to the Smoldering Burns passive has been reduced from 5% to 3%

DevNotes: The Annihilation / Watchman discipline was overperforming, so we made some changes to bring its overall DPS in line with its target. Deadly Saber / Overload Saber made up a large part of its damage, so we brought that down slightly to level its damage out with some of the discipline’s other abilities, while still maintaining its place in the rotation.

Additionally, we slightly lowered the effectiveness of some other damage over time abilities through changes to a couple of passives which brought the discipline’s DPS to where it needed to be.

When the nerf team overperforms, who nerfs the nerf team?

Tell me straight, these class changes are for PVP not storylines ?

I believe this is more PvE oriented. Annihalation isn’t doing okay in PvP, but not great. In PvE however it’s on the higher tier. I haven’t done Mara this expansion, but for the little I played, I preferred Anni for sustained dps, and Carnage for AOE and burst.

PvP is all Carnage and Rage mostly.

      • nana

Don’t forget that the spec that is usually “hit flashy lights” with occasional buttons(aka Fury) reached top4 in parse when Carnage and Anhi were supposed to be superior in this matter.

        http://parsely.io/parser/view/314667/0

This nerf could make Fury the strongest spec over the 3 in all matters, since Anhi dots make up 50% up to 70% of the total damage.

so obviously they dont want anyone doing over 10k by the looks of all the nerfs so heres an idea u dont want ppl dpsing so high dont come out with so many tiers of gear…o wait thats right they cant come out with enough content to do that

    • gua543

They can’t be bothered to balance the bosses beyond increasing hp and dps output, so they release higher tiers of gear. I bet it will be almost impossible to beat the enrage timers of some bosses now (Styrak for example).

      • Guest

Styrak on nightmare mode has no hard enrage. Also with 248’s the DPS check was already pretty non existent.

      • Arvolenn

thats what they want though, they want to be able to be like “look our ops are still hard and relavent” even though its the same ops from 4 yrs ago lol its y i stoped doing prog how many times cause u beat the same boss in different tiers of gear..

      • Fred Garvin

Tfw you realize you’re having to worry about beating an enrage timer on a boss that’s 4-1/2 years old…lol.

Another day, another idiotic change…. And I have never played Watchman/Annihilation, Combat/Carnage is just too much fun for me.

This is clearly ANOTHER change because of PvP… sad really.

    • tru.boi

Anni is shit in pvp, so it’s 100% overdps in raids.

      • John Kosto

It is most definitely not shit. I have seen Sentinels annihilate other people in PvP with that spec

    • AdjeYo

I doubt this a pvp oriented change. Anni is mediocre at its best in pvp, while it’s performing exceptionally well in pve.

      • John Kosto

It is ok in PvE, but not outperforming other classes, and it is a more difficult rotation to follow in certain non-melee fights. Also, for half of the fights in operations Combat/Carnage is actually better. Mediocre in PvP? Maybe only compared to the Flavor of the Month specs. Otherwise, it’s pretty great in PvP, and come on, they have always looked at PvP for “metrics”…

  • Zasz

    “Overperforming… nerf by 1-6%…”

Nerfs always sound negative if there arent any buffs to improve gameplay. It doesnt even have to be damage buffs. Constant nerfs only create a frustrating game experience.
