SWTOR Chiss Planet Copero Concept Art

Bioware has released a concept art of the upcoming planet Copero that you can explore in the new flashpoint coming with patch 5.6.

This planet is not one that you can explore, it is simply a flashpoint location like Umbara. It also has a strong resemblance in architecture to Makeb.

  • Arrac

Looking good! I see a nice remix of Belsavis/Makeb here, which should minimize the requirement of new resources (by reusing old ones) while keeping things fresh. Also, it suggests Copero will be in the Makeb region of the galaxy and that the Makebites hired Chiss architects. Fascinating!

    • 平賀才人

I’m glad to see someone thinking possitive here… game is already very heavy in assets, if they had to build unique new assets for every small update like these we would end up with a 60GB+ SWTOR folder by the end of next year…

  • Rozay

“This planet is not one that you can explore, it is simply a flashpoint location like Umbara.” Why do I still come here thinking something will change?

    • Sadriel_Fett

Because rebellions are built on hope? :-p

      • Rozay

        “Hope cannot save them.”

      • Bioware

Your fleet is lost. Your friends have failed. Soon you will call me… master

        • Shawn Hargrave

      • 平賀才人

You pretty much nailed it with that comment. Thumbs up for you mate…

  • DerpDude

Looks good for something that isn’t really going to be in the game =P

  • PsychoTech ARMS

at first.. “Oh damn, a Chiss planet to explore and do qusts and……’ planet is not one that you can explore, it is simply a flashpoint’…… god damnit.”

I should have known better…we all should have known better.

    • For a few moments I was really impressed with the world.. sometimes BW gets so close to doing something right. lol

    • 平賀才人

Yeah I know that feel as soon as I started the Umbara story I was like, cool this chapter was nice, now lets try the flashpoint *gets into queue and enters the FP* Wait a minute… this is what I’ve just……… Bullshit!!!

  • swtor, the game with more nerfed classes than playable content https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u06YJNVyVOI

  • Ben Gimson

Kinda wasted being locked inside a flashpoint, but I guess those days are over. Looks nice though.

  • Syok

    >explore planet

    Pick one.

    • Fred Garvin

Or play a different game that gives you both and more.

      • Syok

I do, fortunately. Haven’t touched that clusterfuq TOR in few months now.

You get to explore the flashpoint location many times over to give you enough tokens for the latest mod gear.

    • Raccoon Army

Member when we had both? I member.

  • Wishful Thinker

I wish these new planets were small areas with dailies/heroics, similar to oricon.

  • Jonathan Parker

I hate how they add new worlds, especially ones with such potential as Umbara, as nothing more than flashpoint locations. It’s not a planet in that case, it’s a single mission and nothing else.

I think it’s a sign of a dwindling budget and manpower.

    • Or Manaan. Adding it as a SH was pointless when its just otherwise a flashpoint.

      • Risqu’e

at least manaan still had a planet on the galaxy map and an area to walk around with vendors and the fp entrance. Now they arent even doing that

    • Raccoon Army

I told myself I won’t give them any more money until they resumed new vanilla quality content in terms of story, planets, Companions, etc., which is what got me hooked on the game in the first place. It seems their original target audience is no longer their target audience… and I really dislike content bait-and-switches (though Aion still wears that crown in my book lol.)

      • 平賀才人

They said they are planning to do some more class specific stories in the future. Maybe that would motivate us to run the story with all our characters again lol.

    • Shawn Hargrave

one the reasons i hate tor in general in swg every planet was a “world” where i could drive a speeder from one side of the world to the other and go anywhere

  • lore

Doesn’t look at all like a “Chiss” planet.

They are all starting to look the same now.

That could have passed for Makeb, Rishi, maybe Zakuul…

      • Ben Gimson

You’d have thought they’d at least recolour the structural elements to try and disguise the reused assets a bit :/

    • 平賀才人

What do you expected the planet to look like?… Blue?

      • lore

I would expect it to look the way the Chiss worlds were consistantly described in SW lore up until this point. Angular architecture with a military look (being a militant society) and their planets were mostly cold like Hoth.

The picture looks nothing like that and is totally inconsistent with the way Chiss worlds and architecture has been described to this point.

It would also be nice if it didn’t look exactly like the buildings on other worlds…..

If you look at buildings even at different parts on our world- they are very different.

Why would buildings on two worlds that are inhabited by very different cultures with totally different histories look exactly the same? It doesn’t even make any sense.

        • 平賀才人

good points, at least theres some snow out there in the back so the planet is actually cold as you mention, as for the buildings I think they are ok by reusing assets just cuz this will most likely be only a flashpoint and making new assets just for a minor update like this one would terrible increase the game files’ size. I would prefer new assets yo be done for new planets thare we are actually going to explore like they did with Iokath.

  • Mikey Moo

Aren’t chiss supposed to be from frozen planets? this looks more like art from the new GW2 xpack.

    • Ben Gimson

Their homeworld Csilla is a frozen world. Don’t think there’s much lore about Copero, but the Chiss own a few worlds.

  • Deewe

Wish they had the money do to more than reuse and slightly reskin the textures

  • Wayshuba

Um, it doesn’t have a “strong resemblance to Makeb”, it is Makeb assets.

That is what they are doing now – cut-and-paste and call it content. Want to bet the boss mechanics in the FP are cut-and-paste routines from existing bosses?

  • Asteron123

    Nope, that’s not Kashyyyk.

    *Goes back to bed*

  • Shawn Hargrave

It looks like the new guild house setting in star trek online lmao!

  • Shawn Hargrave
    • 平賀才人

At least not in ops thank god…

  • Terry G Roberts

Makeb architecture, and Rishi flora. They could have recolored the assets maybe make the architecture a different color or some shit at least lol

  • CrumpetTrumpet

This isn’t a very merry Chissmas at all 🙁

    • Naefas

Never heard of a Green Chissmas?… There is snow in the back ground on the mountain

  • Kilsun Lithandrous

hey I have an idea. if you people on here dont like the damn game and criticize everything they do, why dont you leave the damn game or stop following it? The hate this game gets is unbelievable.

    • Фролов Денис

Well, I can’t say for others, but i used to love the game, and still look for some reason to return. And when news don’t give me such reasons (never lol), I can’t help but feel disappointed.

    • Kalas Torr

I couldn’t agree more. They seem to think it was made specifically to please each and everyone of them especially those who pay nothing they seem to want the most. The ultimate irony is that it is code, and it is a business. Business has become a game of: ‘How little can I spend to get the most of what I want?’ The ‘game’ and the companies and the players are doing the exact same thing, yet when the owners do it its crap, when the players do it, its all the big bad wolf’s fault lol.

    • 平賀才人

The funniest part of it is that it doesn’t matter how much rage they put into it, they just keep comming back and playing it anyways.

    • abaddonsmummy

I hear what you are saying but I don’t think it’s as simple as that tbh, not all players who don’t like the way the game has gone over the past few years don’t want to play anymore, they do, they just want a better game and come here to voice it.
I’m classed as the resident ‘fanboi’ from the regular posters because I see so much good in the game (I also see a lot of bad btw) but if it wasn’t for the ‘moaners’ or the voices of dissent then we wouldn’t have the massive turn around from their single player story focus to more endgame content for it’s existing player base and not to mention the huge softening of CXP system for the players.
You’re right in that some of the posters on here are just trolling for votes, you can see it from what they post – non discussion engaging comments – just hatred and derision but a good many posters just want it to return to it’s heydays.
Forums can be intense and weird sometimes, don’t let it stress you. 🙂

      • Paulo Gomes

And I miss you guys. You know, the “fanbois” (let’s just use that, derogatory as it may be. You know I don’t think you’re one, so indulge me).

This Forum has become too one-sided. I think people with a different input are necessary. You know, to keep us good old “haters” honest lol.

Hey, sometimes shit does hit the fan. But that’s to be expected. As long as it is in the confines of good old education and manners I’m all for that.

  • Przemysław Narbutt

    IT looks like naboo

    • 平賀才人

Nah, Naboo doesn’t have snow. It looks like some sort of Alderaan/Rishi mashup with Makeb architecture…

  • Jude

“It also has a strong resemblance in architecture to Makeb.”

So what you’re say is, more recycled art assets? Naw, BW would NEVER recycle art assets like that. 😛

  • Hoss Musk

Lead Developer: “We need a new planet!”
Modeling and Texture Artist: “Ok, what kind of plant do we create?”
LD: “I don’t care, just bash something together, like: Alderaan + Makeb + Rakata Prime. Quick and dirty. Don’t put any effort in it.”
MaTA: “Ahhhhhrrright! Just copy paste to get this shit done…”
