GW2 WvW Worlds Restructuring

Arenanet is restricting the worlds system of WvW.

A message from McKenna Berdrow:

I want to update everyone on the design we currently are investigating to help achieve population balance between worlds, and the goals we hope this new World Restructuring system can achieve.

The goals of the World Restructuring system are:

  • Create great matches
  • Handle population fluctuations
  • Balance teams
  • Diversify WvW experiences

It is important to keep in mind that we still are investigating and working on this system. It is possible that this system will continue to evolve as we develop it, and we will be constantly testing to make sure the system meets our goals and our expectations for a quality experience. This post is an opportunity to share with you our plans for the new system, and respond to questions before the system is far long in the development process.

Restructuring Worlds

Even though world linking has brought world populations closer together, it is impossible for us to get populations and coverage any closer because the current worlds do not give us the granularity needed to do that. For example in NA, Blackgate has decent coverage across all time zones whereas worlds like Crystal Desert have higher peak times and lower off-hour times. Because world linking isn’t granular enough, we don’t have the ideal link that allows Crystal Desert to have coverage that is similar to Blackgate.

This is why, in the new World Restructuring system, we will remove all players from their current worlds, and make new worlds every eight weeks. This will create more granular pieces, which allow us to avoid situations like the Crystal Desert example.

Since worlds will not exist any longer, the “World Selection” that currently is available in character select will be eliminated, and instead a selection for playing in either North America or Europe will replace it.

World Creation

The system creates new worlds and assigns them a pre-generated name at the start of each season. We use ‘season’ to describe the time between World Restructuring. We plan on eight-week seasons, which is similar to the current time between links. We will discuss more about seasons later.

World Creation builds teams so they have similar predicted participation, skill, coverage, and language. Team assignment moves players onto teams by calculating the contribution value of a player and using that calculation to distribute players fairly. We plan to track stats like play hours in WvW, commander time and squad size, time of day, and participation levels. The exact stats have yet to be determined and we are open to suggestions of other stats to use in this system. This new system will expand upon the current calculation that uses play hours for linking.

If a player has played WvW before, we will be able to use the statistics from their account to sort them into a new world. The system also makes a world assignment for players who have not played WvW before, when they first begin WvW. Ideally the system will assign a new player to a world on which their friends or guild mates play, thereby making it easier than it is at present for people to play with friends in WvW.

Playing with Guild Mates

We want to make sure that playing with WvW guild mates is easy in this new system. Guilds will be able to specify if they are a WvW guild. This essentially means the World Restructuring system will consider that factor at the start of each season when assigning the guild to a world. On an individual player level, once a player’s guild has specified they are a WvW guild, the individual player will be able to set ONE of their guilds as their personal WvW guild. When World Restructuring happens at the start of a season, as long as you have specified your WvW guild, you will be assigned to the same world as everyone else in your WvW guild, guaranteeing you will be able to play with your guild mates.

Creating Alliances

We also want to make sure that existing WvW communities can play together in this new system. A WvW guild will be able to invite other WvW guilds to their WvW Alliance. WvW Alliances function as a party for guilds. When World Restructuring happens, the system assigns all members in the WvW guilds that make up the WvW alliance to the same world. These WvW alliances will have certain restrictions on them, such as a finite number of guilds or number of players. Our current plans for alliance size are somewhere between 500-1000 members, and we are still considering the technical and match-making ramifications of the number that we settle upon.

World Creation Summary

So to summarize world creation: at the start of every season our new World Restructuring system will use recent statistics, based on similar predicted participation, skill, and coverage, to create worlds filled with alliances, guilds, and unaffiliated players.

The above graph displays an example of what makes up a world under the World Restructuring system. Keep in mind, due to the algorithm used to keep worlds balanced, the number of alliances, guilds, and individual players can be wildly different between worlds, but the participation and playtime should be relatively the same.

Seasons

Seasons break WvW into cycles where several matches will play out. The current design for seasons is 8 weeks, but we are open to feedback. Matches are still a week long, so there would be eight matches a season in the above scenario. During the season, we will still be using 1-up, 1-down.

Stages:

  1. Season
    1. Once new worlds have been created and everyone has been sorted onto their WvW worlds, the new season has officially began.
    2. During a season players can manage their WvW guilds and alliances after reset and through the end of Week 7, but their WvW guild and WvW alliances will not be updated until the start of the next season.
    3. Ex: If you are playing WvW with Guild A this season and decide to set Guild B as your WvW guild in the middle of the season, you will not be able to play with Guild B until the next season, unless you transfer (more about that later).
  2. Season End
    1. A week before the season ends, that is, during Week 8 in the season, you no longer will be able to manage your WvW guilds or alliances. Your WvW guild and alliances will be locked down at this time.
    2. Everyone is kicked out of WvW, as they are with every reset. WvW will spin back up, as it currently does after reset, and everyone will now be sorted into their new worlds.
  3. World Creation
    1. Alliances, guilds, and individual players are sorted to be on a world.
    2. This will happen at the same time as current WvW reset.

Transfers

Region Transfers

Transferring between regions, from NA to EU, will still exist. We have not determined the costs for transferring but a region selection will be available on the character select screen that will allow transfers.

World Transfers

We understand that even though this system tries to keep guilds and alliances together, there will be times during the season when people want to change teams. Because of this, there are plans to allow transfers between worlds during a season. This means that new worlds will have size restrictions on them, as they do currently.

Players will be able to select worlds from the WvW panel in game. Worlds that are available for transfers will show up in the new WvW world panel. Worlds can be in these three different states:

The cost of transfer worlds has not been determined.

Transitioning to this System

This system is going to take time to make. As mentioned in the WvW FAQ, part of the reason we did World Linking was because it utilized a lot of existing tech and did not require a considerable amount of time. This allowed us to address the growing population issue quickly, while also being able to address other WvW issues. This new system is going to take considerably more time to make. We do not have a release date, but this is going to require several months of work and it will share resources with any other WvW changes that we work on.

Transitioning to this system is going to be slow and we want to make this transition as smooth as possible. Once this system is ready, we plan to give everyone several weeks to form their WvW guilds and alliances. We also want to give titles related to the worlds on which players currently are playing when World Restructuring goes live. If there are other transition ideas, we would love to hear them!

We will continue with World Linking until World Restructuring is ready to ship.

Feedback

That was a lot of information and I am sure there are many questions. The team will do its best to answer them. We appreciate any feedback on this system. Your opinions of this system, as well as the community’s response, will be an important part of how we tackle this project.

If the reception is not great for this system, then the other alternative is most likely to continue World Linking. Even though making a choice between the two systems might seem like too drastic a change for some people, we have been exploring other designs to deal with WvW populations for years and we believe that World Restructuring or World Linking are the only solutions that meet our requirements. Simply “blowing up” worlds or removing people from the worlds on which they currently play is high risk (which is why we have avoided it for so long), and the only reason we are considering World Restructuring now is because it allows players to maintain and continue to build some of the communities they’ve created through the years.

  • Great!

I think WvW is finally getting some TLC it very much needed throughout these years. If anyone is stupid enough to object or protest against this awesome new idea, then I’ll just hope they are small in numbers. Thank you Dulfy for posting this great news quickly.

  • MACHA DEARG

just Get a hacker.. lazy Anet

  • Alot

A great logistical reshuffle (plus recent reward restructure) to a game mode which has seen no game play updates since HoT launched.

  • Asda

This is all such irritating BS.
“For example in NA, Blackgate has decent coverage across all time zones whereas worlds like Crystal Desert have higher peak times and lower off-hour times. Because world linking isn’t granular enough, we don’t have the ideal link that allows Crystal Desert to have coverage that is similar to Blackgate.”

WHY SHOULD THE MATCH BE SLANTED TO GIVE CRYSTAL DESERT BENEFITS IF THEY’RE NOT WILLING TO STAFF ALL HOURS OF THE DAY?

They do this shit all the time. Strong teams must be weakened so that loser teams can win too. “Marxist gaming”, it’s called. It’s a total laugh that they list “Diversify WvW experiences” as one of their key points– every change they make creates LESS “diversity” in the “experience”. Every revamp of WvW progressively neuters and normalizes the gameplay until every experience is the same, diluted down to its lowest common denominator.

    • 조커

Well, this is how I see it. Brining down of a strong world is not a news. Biggest example is and was JQ. We all know how that turned out, jq players left servers joined other worlds like mag, FA, TC and etc. They even went on a 2 weeks long blackout during December last year. Why? Because getting butt raped all week isnt fun. But due to “overall wvw playtime” the server was never opend which made alot of players to quit the game. Now thats JQ. One of the biggest and strongest worlds in NA for the last 5 years. What about other players in small worlds? Its not that they dont want to contribute, its more like there arent players left to cover all timezones. You said its marxist gaming, I get what you mean, but Anet is a company, before a gaming company. They need to listen to all complaints and adjust accordingly. And not enough players is the big problem right now. Stagnant water needs to be refreshed, otherwise only mosquitos will survive in that water. Whether or not if this world change is going to refresh or destroy the pond, I cant say but change is inevitable imo.

      • Czan

Maybe i will enjoy WvW again ;p

    • NubCakes

Its not like they can just staff the dead times zones easily especially if they have different time zones on low population

Lets say 25 people frm crystal dessert comes online to man their server
And communicates well…what are they still supposed to do against a blob of bg which will usually be twice their number? they will easily be swamped and discouraged to play.

Most people just play on their free time its not like you can easily talk smeone to man a specific hour…they got lives too..

    • Izzy

It’s not that they’re not willing, lol — they don’t have as strong of an APAC playerbase as BG. And the bulk of the APAC players flock to where they already have a strong standing — so other servers are fucked unless they totally change their life schedules for GW2 WvW which would be ridiculous for anyone who isn’t an unemployed adult living with their mom.

It will be diverse, because you’ll be playing with different people (aside from your guild and limited alliances) INCLUDING playing against people who you may have once fought beside — which, of course, if you’re from BG and claiming you’re all glorious at everything, means that you’ll be fighting against people you haven’t fought before — who may do things differently (better or worse) as well as those who came from BG and are going to be able to match your tactics. Which in turn means you’ll be challenged to get better — I know that’s distasteful to you, but fortunately better minds prevail.

What we have now is neutered, and stagnant. It has been for years. Don’t be an idiot.

    • Izzy

      “Marxist gaming”

Not everything boils down to evil commies, you knob. Stop drinking the fucking koolaid, you’re irrational enough as it is.

  • duhhhhhhhhhh

This is all so f$%(^&%^(#@ ridiculous. Blackgate is a COMMUNITY, made of many guilds, that all facilitate their WvW play together with lots of communication. That’s one of the main reasons they’ve dominated so consistently for years and years. Now it’s being completely fractured because “it’s not fair for superior players to win all the time, let’s scatter you all to different servers so the losers can have fun too despite not putting any effort in whatsoever”.

All this is going to do is make WvW incredibly boring and repetitive because every single encounter will now be geared to match up entirely similar groups. You’ll never have moments where you see another group and think “Are they better than me? Weaker than me?” Nope, now everything will be digitally matched to your level as close as possible, resulting in exactly the same experience every single time.

    • Marco Costanza

wish it would work in pvp . trust me their matching system will be weak . but i agree it’s stupid to split a server community this way.

    • Alot

While I’m assuming the answer is yes, are there more then 1000 active wvw players in blackgate?

    • Steve Disguise

Anyone who played Factions in GW1 will remember what happens when you let the players dictate sides and alliances..

T1= Elitist jerks. WvW Guilds with mandatory 4+ hours/day to remain a member. Selling precious spots in top guilds to rich players who want access or to display the tag. Welcome back, HzH Alliance.

T2= might not be too terrible for the players who can manage to stay here, except every other week when one of the t1 guilds drops down and farms them.

      t3 and below= Empty

    • visher

So, if blackgate is so good in communicating, won’t it be able to get together in alliance? I mean, it sounds like pressing one button, i’m sure you guys can handle that.

    • Jalen Dmello

If they are as good as you say then they will have no problem on their new servers right Or are implying they cannot possibly win without being together??
If this server has been winning since launch then there is a clear bias issue going on
      Competition should be fair like 50 – 50 not 99 -1

  • Steve Disguise

So, if the Beers beat Detroit and Denver beats Atlanta in the American Southwestern Division East Northern, then Milwaukee goes to the Denslow Cup, unless Baltimore can upset Buffalo and Charlotte ties Toronto, then Oakland would play LA and Pittsburgh in a blind choice round robin. And if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned.

    • Steve Disguise

OK now that that is out of the way… i rolled on Blackgate for a reason. I’ve played on Blackgate since launch week. I’ve watched Blackgate grow and fight and win and lose. I am not some warrior lost in the mists who doesn’t remember where he came from or who he fights for.

Stop making everyone happy at everyone else’s expense, this is a game design tactic which always fails.

      • visher

Wouldn’t your server be able to keep together via alliance?

      • Izzy

Your analogy fails — it would be as if the Best funded team were playing the smallest, least funded teams, all the time. Who the fuck would want to watch that?

“Stop making everyone happy at everyone else’s expense, this is a game design tactic which always fails” — you’re basically saying keep ME happy at everyone else’s expense. You obviously have no idea what condition other servers are in, especially seeing as your population is capped, and you can rely on your population and coverage as opposed to what other servers have to actually work at.

Your complaining because you’re incapable of seeing past your own interests, and understanding what’s going on everywhere else. Your selfishness blinds you, and you’re only defensive over it because you get to puff yourself up as if the accomplishments of your server, due primarily to population, were somehow your own. You’re not even trying to consider how this might be beneficial because you’re clinging to your fear of change (which is weak).

WvW has been stale for years, and this change will shake things up for everyone and resurrect a dying game mode.

        • Steve Disguise

While i’m waiting for my full response which someone conveniently reported as spam to be reposted, I would ask that you discontinue projecting your motivations onto any other response which you don’t agree with. It is pretty offensive, and sadly transparent.

“Must be nice — I can’t transfer to my guild’s WvW server, because it’s been full for ages.

Now I’ll actually get to play with them without dropping $20-25 (not that I had the chance to do so).” -Izzy

“you’re basically saying keep ME happy at everyone else’s expense.”
          -also Izzy

  • Mr. Wednesday

And the globalist server agenda to destroy individual server identities continues….

    • Izzy

      Your satire, it’s good.

  • Alot

With the direction WvW is going, with the option to intentionally form WvW alliances to fill your custom 8-week worlds, I wonder if it would be possible (long term) to make intentional guild alliance tournaments. It would be pretty damn cool if there was a separate cluster of competing 8-week worlds you could only opt into if you had enough total member count to simulate a world all on your own – then alternate between tournaments in which points could only be scored during prime time or across the entire day.

Less need to mediate fair match-ups when alliances are opting into a battle-royale and if the most organised wvw groups get their own personal pit to smash heads in, there may be slightly better balance between the nubs that dont get into the tournaments.

    • nadrian3k

Maybe there will be a timed lockout of wvw or something similar. I remember that was the case during Seasons back in the day. If you wanted to hop servers to the winning side, you got 1 week lockout or something.

      • Alot

There have been several wvw lockout systems to prevent people from hopping to the winning side. I believe you referring to the period where there were competition months – which features a huge amount of wvw achievements to complete and resulted in pve nobs flooding the wvw maps for a few weeks for tournament tickets and dolyak finishers (which upset the actual wvw locals).

I’m not talking about locking people out of competing so much as suggesting a large scale version of the current pvp automated tournaments – just instead of requiring 5 talented players to band together, require guilds totaling over 1000 players to band together before they can enter into the round robin of week long matches. It would be nice if instead of continually trying to rig the system to produce fair matches we could instead invite large groups to form the stronkest alliances they could (with a size limit to force them to fan out) and them let them compete in an arena of veterans.

This may not be the best approach, just pointing out that the coding framework of allowing people to specify a wvw guild and allowing wvw guilds to stick together through the drafting process means that the framework to pull this off already half exists.

  • matteo

wish it would work in pvp . trust me their matching system will be weak . but i agree it’s stupid to split a server community this way.

  • FrycoN

Either you are wvw player or you are not.
If you play wvw with friends you already are in the same guild, unless you play only by roaming then your guild doesn’t matter.
    Why not do this..

    1. Make a list of wvw guilds and all ppl who play wvw by itself (without dedicated wvw guild).

    2. Make 3 MEGA servers and then do Guild Draft system starting from most populated one, for example: [A guild- populated by 48 wvw players choose RED server], [B guild- populated by 47 wvw players choose BLUE server], [C guild- polulated by 45 players choose GREEN server] then..

    3. Add to this servers players who play without wvw guild, for example: RED server is most populated so dont get any non guild players, 1 player is added to BLUE server and 3 players are added to GREEN server so now all 3 servers have equally number of players.

    4. Keep adding guilds and non guild players untill all are signed.

    5. Season should take no longer than 4 weeks ( 28 days) to make it start and end in the same month.

    6. Guilds can change servers only after Season have ended, since Season last for 28 days there are always 1,2 or 3 days to change server untill month end, exept february which have only 28 days so here is no server changing.

    7. Make additional reward system for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place after each Season / month.

    • Izzy

That is a far more convoluted and irrational solution than what the devs have proposed. I’m sure you know several programming languages and have accounted for the labor costs your proposal would require.

  • Z.DRAG0N

Any time owning smaller worlds and stomping on them is fun it causes others to stop playing. When players stop playing they lose money. So that being said time to do a big scale change that will put some of those top players who can play at any time on some of the smaller worlds.

1 world might dominate hard and its fun for that 1 world however the other worlds likely make up a majority of players that dont enjoy getting stomped on simply due to lack of total players or down times and gaps were there’s no one to cover. This majority is likely bigger population than the 1 world thats plays very optimal. Thus its more money to potentially lose or gain than the winning world can provide alone. Time to fix.

Some times people need to realize being too optimal to the point that it degrades other players or totally dominates other players can back fire. This thing happens in any competitive game no point in crying about it.

  • Ainseland

another wvw update and still haven’t tried wvw ROFL

  • Matthew Godin

This is absolutely stupid af.. Merge lower servers over this slop-fest. you have so many servers. cut it down to half, and see how it goes. don’t hate on Blackgate because it’s been strong since Launch. Not only in WVW. BG was also the 1st to bring down new Teq Fight back in the day. BG has grown, survived and even grown from other guilds leaving,,, this is a joke.. support other servers before you tear apart T1

    • Z.DRAG0N

Even if they did what you said you wouldnt be happy about it. Your next point would be its no longer fair because its more worlds together against 1 or Why do they get support and we dont. We dont get anything. We want stuff. Then anet gives it to you and nothing got solved. being 200% optimal bit players in the butt it happens. Now you have to find a new way of adjusting to the changes.

    • Saihah

Blackgate is singlehandedly ruining NA tho. T2 and T3 purposely tank so that they don’t have to play against you. The community has failed to police itself – Blackgate has failed to police itself – so Anet is stepping in to do what you should have done a long time ago.

      • Mr. Wednesday

The weak always beg for some governing authority to come in and police the strong instead of rising up to be strong themselves.

        • GW2_Super_Casual_Player

I would love to see u apply that logic in the modern civilized world. What u view as “strong”, I just see exploitation.

    • Izzy

For sure bro! Let’s ALL just join Blackgate! Oh wait, it’s been full for years. I WONDER HOW THEY GOT SO AWESOME.

Don’t cry, you’ll be fine — hell, you might actually have some challenging gameplay in the future. Change is hard, but you’ll survive it buddy.

  • red star

IMHO, there are several problems with this: further destruction of the meaning of a guild especially as a community, the investment people have made to belong to a server, and you already have this option as a failure.

First, we have this option already. It is called Edge of the Mists. Very few people ever play EotM because it does not count towards the true WvW rankings. It becomes a waste of time. I fear that your option will destroy WvW all together.

Second, I read a post a while ago concerning fractals and the cost that people have invested in Agony Resistance for higher level fractals. The bottom line was that we are pretty much stuck with fractals as is because of the player investment. Now contemplate this: at 1800 gems or $22.50 USD, many many people have transferred servers. As a GL, I had several players transfer recently to my server for WvW and WvW only. Because as a guild, we can do anything together except WvW.

Lastly, as a GL, I strongly feel that Anet has thrown all of us GL’s under the bus from day 1. GW2 n 1 other MMO allow multiple guilds for an account. Just 2 games. As a GL, I have built a community within my guild as many many have. With multiple guilds it might be good for anet but not for the individual guilds. Then we went mega server, which washed my guild and most others too out of a pure WvW type of guild unless all you do is WvW and you only recruit in WvW. Now we wish to destroy the servers and WvW totally.

Bottom line: EotM is pretty dead and that has the same system, virtually, that you talking about; people have invested real money to be on their server, now you, Anet, will be losing a money stream; you have weaken the meaning of the guild since launch and continue to do so.

Question: How long will it be before you kill your own game and see people driving to other games in droves? I have been playing GW1 (4+) n GW2 (5+) for roughly 9 to 10 years.

    • Izzy

Must be nice — I can’t transfer to my guild’s WvW server, because it’s been full for ages.

Now I’ll actually get to play with them without dropping $20-25 (not that I had the chance to do so).

      >Question: How long will it be before you kill your own game and see people driving to other games in droves? I have been playing GW1 (4+) n GW2 (5+) for roughly 9 to 10 years.

… Say the overly negative know-it-alls on literally EVERY game’s forums. It will be fine. The broken system was killing WvW (many servers already died) and sorry, but keeping it the same wasn’t an option. You’ll still be playing, because even though you hate change (all of it) this won’t drag you away as you’ll realize you’re overreacting.

The guild, also, serves as the key way to stay together after the change, thereby making guild (and guild alliances) more important than server. But okay.

    • Juan El Chapito Ramero Gusman

Stop crying you probably a salty BlackGate players who knows the end is near and you stacked up server days are over.

      • Moirraine

        You are a horror.

WvW was a community, now it will be elitist hell.

        • Juan El Chapito Ramero Gusman

I was just playing i agree. Killing servers is not the answer to the problem. WvW just hasnt evolved and has gotten stagnated. This move is going to kill WvW long term.

          • Moirraine

Sadly, Anet has destroyed WvW, not the players who cheat or spy.

Anet bans people from the forums and even customer service if you PROVE to them their program is being harmed or abused.

            • Juan El Chapito Ramero Gusman

Cheating and or spying has nothing to do why WvW is dying. It’s old and stagnated. You cant expect people for 5 years to capture the same towers, camps over and over and not get bored or burned out. WvW never evolved.

It also doesnt help that in big fights the game drops to 12 fps and skill lag kicks in making it a complete broken mess since launch.

  • Izzy

Sounds good to me. So many servers have crumbled, with exception to Black Gate and maybe JQ, and unless you manage to find an opening on BG you’re shit out of luck on seeing any improvement. This provides balanced communities, lets guilds stay together, and – what I’m most looking forward to – mixes up the matches to actually provide challenge in adapting to new dynamics, being exposed to different strategies, as well as (perhaps) going up against former allies, which sounds fun to me (because a lot of them are amazing).

Like every other change in every other game, don’t shit on it prematurely. I’ve seen too many things blown out of proportion without any rational basis. The current system does not work, and this proposal is the best – both from players and Anet – solution I’ve heard.

  • ZeKrioX

I’m honestly happy with the change. Makes Guilds be more important than being part of a specific world. Putting the Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2 finally.

  • Karagianis

Anyone else got R.E.M. “It’s the end of the world as we know it” stuck in their heads after reading this?
    P.S. and I feel fine!

  • Brad Robinson

Well anet never cared about wvw, so now they finally figured out how to kill it. Congrats

Well, WvW is dying anyways, might as well try something. Sometimes, the medicine kills its’ patient. With the state WvW is in, It’s a risk worth taking.

Lets not pretend like WvW is thriving. It’s currently in a slow death. The majority of hardcore WvW players quit the game like 2-3 years ago.

too many ” pricing hasnt been determined yet” with a system like this, which seem to clearly be focused on guilds and friends, paying gems to switch into an 8 week long world, that still might force you into a world next season where your guild / friends Arent on i seems bad.
unless the guild thing becomes a garentueed all guild members end up together, then i would accept that abit more

Well if you would’ve read the article you’d know it but here you go: “When World Restructuring happens at the start of a season, as long as
you have specified your WvW guild, you will be assigned to the same
world as everyone else in your WvW guild, guaranteeing you will be able
to play with your guild mates.”

    Scared?

I love it. WvW should have always been Guilds vs Guilds not World vs World. The game is called GUILD wars for a reason.

They clearly dont have the resources to fix WvW. WvW needs a major over haul. No point of having 4 maps when 2 of them are dead 80% of the time.

They need game modes like team death match, capture the flag, castle wars (smaller scale WvW). Mount/PVP fight maps etc. WvW is stagnated and old. How many towers can one protect and capture before he or she gets bored or burned out.
