SWTOR 5.8 Conquest Guide and Schedule

SWTOR Patch 5.8 Conquest Guide and schedule. Updated April 17, 2018.

General Info

Conquest has been updated in Patch 5.8 with a new interface and divided between Personal Conquest and Guild Invasions. You will need 15k Conquest points for Personal Rewards. There is no more Conquest schedule and it is now “random” what will show up each week.

  • Each stronghold you own counts for a 25% bonus towards points, up to a max of 150%. They no longer have to be stufed with furnitures
  • Completing objectives will now award credits, experience points, and Command Experience in addition to their Conquest points.
  • Guild rewards has been untied from Conquest leaderboards. How much points your guild earn will place you into one of three different planets that vary by minimum Planetary Yield thresholds. The higher the yield the harder it is for the Guild to receive the reward, but also means a better reward.

Could be worse, they could create a facebook poll and call it a game event.
        Oh, wait…

    • werwerwer

Ok therer is the list with objectives on the left, and the description is on the right.
Therer are mysterious symbols in the list, which may give you a hint about repeatable or not.

Why don’t they tell you in the discreption if it is repeatable, IN WORDS. Therer is enough space to do so.

JESUS CRIST BIOWARE, get somebody who knows about UI/UX, or has at least a brain and common sense.

    • 555

      Donate War Supplies… WHERE?
      Wherer to donate them? How?
BioWare, you could put this information in the discription box on the right. There are two lines of text, therer is space for 10 lines of text. Put information THERE, WHERE TO FKCIN DONATE WAR SUPPLIES!!!

      • John Kosto

It means to craft one, are you for real?

      • constantine

have them in your inventory and cliky them must be 10

      • Robert René Dibello

That ain’t even new dude… Common mechanic that been around since conquest’s launch…

    • Eban

As I thought pretty much just a UI update, the conquest missions all look the same.

    • Shawn Hargrave

why is 99% of “conquest” pve lol shouldnt conquest be pvp based?

      • John Kosto

No reason really why it should be PvP based.

        • Bang bang

Should be spilt between pve and PvP.

          • John Kosto

            As it is then.

        • Shawn Hargrave

conquest implies fighting something not buying furniture and doing pve how is that a conquest? lol

You gotta admit having bots here who just rehashes old content is sort of fitting 😉

    • Ann Nonymous

      Defeat Gravak’k and defeat Surgok’k 5x each on Illum…really?

These WB only respawn after a number of hours…and i’s not like there are tons of instances.

      • Lol

Thankfully, that quest is bugged. You complete both of them just by killing 5 animals in the Gree area of Illum..

    • sofiya

Donate War Supplies… WHERE?Wherer to donate them? How?BioWare, you could put this information in the discription box on the right. There are two lines of text, therer is space for 10 lines of text. Put information THERE, WHERE TO FKCIN DONATE WAR SUPPLIES!!!

      • To donate 10 Invasion forces, right click a stack of them in your inventory.

        • Retromash

For the points given, not a donation I’ll ever do again.

    • Trackrick

The Conquest Points you have listed for each objective assumes a 65% Stronghold bonus. The One-Times you have listed for 3300 get me 5000 with my 150% SH. They have a base of 2000.

Also, Gravak’k and Surgok’k only need to be killed once, not 5X. (Actually, thanks to a bug, you don’t even need to kill them specifically. Random Champions throughout the galaxy will ding you both Grav and Surg. I’ve heard a Mandalorian in a Balmorra Heroic gets you that credit, as do Champs in the Battle of Ilum FP. Musco says that will be fixed the next time they do Gree.)

      • venomlash

Believe it or not, the pack of mobs right before the first cutscene door in MM Kaon Under Siege (Tionese aristocrats and mercenaries) gave the whole group both the Grav and Surg objectives.

        • Havik79

I just did CZ daily on an op, where the first kolto and other thingy you need to pick up, there is a woman and 2 droids, the woman have me the both them, so even trash can give it.

    • Havik79

Somehow I think I am wasting my time asking, does this make things easier/better for those of us with lots of alts.
I haven’t done conquest in a long time, not since 3.0 I think, but it was never alt friendly unless you could craft massive amounts of stuff during the crafting weeks.

      • Bogdan Paunescu

What do you mean by easier/better? Being altoholic is a problem that shouldn’t be encouraged(says the person who has 34 toons)

        • Havik79

I don’t know, just more accessible, maybe any crafting or any fp/heroics rather than certain ones.

          • AbnerDoon

I don’t see it as easier. It actually seems more alt unfriendly just like when they released CXP.

The costs for crafting war supplies is ridiculous. It went from 2 components to 5. So almost what it cost to make 3 before now makes 1. Not to mention before you were crafting within 1 to 2 tiers difference. Now you need low mats and high mats.

Most of the objectives that are high points are not repeatable and without the guild invasion bonus the low objectives are worthless. This almost seems anti-guild as it removes one of the big bonuses to joining one.

        • John Kosto

Why not? I have 24 toons and I love playing with each and every one of them. Differeny playing styles for different occasions. I think it’s awesome to have alt toons. I wouldn’t go as far as to make 100 toons, but a few dozens is perfectly fine.

      • Robert René Dibello

I used to be able to knock out conquest on like 10 toons the way it was set up b4 (more on crafting weeks) It was only a little grinding then, but wasn’t unbearable like it is now… I went ahead and tried to clear my personal objective(something that used to take me like maybe 2-4hrs tops) and it took me all afternoon/evening… Before I used to be able to park two toons in two gathering zones to get all the mats id need for crafting but, but now i need like quadruple the amount and 4 different components to even get enough to craft like 10 war supplies on one toon… On top of the nerf to crafting, the only fp rewards are a one time for HM Battle of ilum whereas before we could complete Weekly HM and vet fps which could net you the bulk of the points needed to finish ur target… On top of everything, the new ui is bland, bulky, and difficult to navigate… the size of the buttons etc make me think they wee designing it for the legally blind and the elderly… it is a definite downgrade from the simple, easy to understand, color coded UI we previously had…

Overall I’d steer clear of conquest till the “fix” it (like that will ever happen)…

      • zappito

Nope they once again show the alt hate in making repeatable things legacy wide.. So if you for example craft an invasion force you need to wait until the next day if you want to get points on an Alt aswell.

    • Lol

The stronghold bonus is bugged, of course. It hasn’t changed from before. I have 3 strongholds, two fully decorated, one partially. I was getting 60% bonus before and am getting the same 60% now too – not 75%, as they promised.

      • John Kosto

That’s probably because you haven’t unlocked all rooms? I am getting the full 150% bonus with 6 fully unlocked strongholds, even though 3 of them are empty, with zero decorations. As they described.

        • Matrim

Personally I don’t care about conquests, but…. “The Stronghold bonus for Conquests has been changed. Each owned Stronghold now counts for up to a 25% bonus, based on the percentage of unlocked rooms. This bonus stacks per Stronghold up to a maximum of 150%”. That is from the patch notes. So yeah, the number of unlocked rooms also plays a role in that 25% bonus.

    • Jeffrey

      bot post#bottergate

    • John Kosto

Dulfy, someone else pointed it out, the Conquest Points rewards on the table are after having a 65% Stronghold bonus. To be able to get the full 150% Conquest bonus, one only needs to have 6 Strongholds, even if they have zero decorations in them, but ALL rooms need to be unlocked.

      • Shawn Hargrave

        LOL 6 HAHAHA

      • Paulo Gomes

So, is that a “minor detail” they forgot to mention? That you have to have ALL rooms unlocked? Or is it simply bugged?

Nevermind, someone just posted the exact answer to what I just asked. It’s in the patch notes.

        • Matrim

They did mention it, albeit a bit veiled. “The Stronghold bonus for Conquests has been changed. Each owned Stronghold now counts for up to a 25% bonus, based on the percentage of unlocked rooms. This bonus stacks per Stronghold up to a maximum of 150%”
^^ This is from the patch notes.

          • Paulo Gomes

Which means f2p or Pref players can never reach the maximum bonus with Strongholds.

            What are these guys thinking?

            • Matrim

BW and “thinking” are mortal enemies in the last 3 years Paulo… :d

              • Paulo Gomes

Shit man… I can only upvote what you said once. Sorry for that.

    • dead on arrival

      That’s the BioWare we know!
Some things are changed. Nothing is better. Some things are worse.
Seriously, if you don’t know how to improve something, don’t change it!

      Think before you act, BioWare.
The whole overhauled Conquest is a joke! Pointless, headless, there is no concept behind all these changes.
If you compare old and new contest, the old one looks like the improved version. But it isn’t. What are you doing there in Austin? Stop smelling your farts, start using your brain!

      • Robert René Dibello

        Preach it.

    • Vadim Karpov

No need to fill all my SH with stupid boss’es portraits? Lovely, thant a really good news.

      • Shawn Hargrave

god i hate that movie first star wars movie i almost walked out on wish i had lolf

        • Don Loco

It actually killed any thought of seeing another Star Wars movie ever again, no matter who makes it. I once held the belief that The Phantom Menace was the worst one of the bunch but no longer. Everything needed for a truly epic movie were there and it was completely wasted.

          • Marrks

there was nothing there for an epic movie, rebuilt heroes from another era and some generic dudes, that’s all

      • Snarf

I was pretty young when Jurrassic Park came out. But back then I thought Laura Dern was HOT. She gave me my first boner.
But now… after TLJ… I kind of hate her. lol

        • Rance

She’s now Vice Admiral Gender Studies.

    • “Keith”

Suck it up bois the new conquest system is here to stay so ENJOY and keep subbing we need to finish Anthem.

    • IronSalamander8

This is blowing up on the official forums. Even nominally positive posters are displeased to put it mildly, much less the more negative ones that still play.
It sounds like a hot mess, even if it’s bugged and this being an MMO update much less a SWTOR one, bugs are almost certainly involved, it’s getting a lot of hate and it looks to be deserved.

      • abaddonsmummy

Is that the conquest update that people are complaining about?
Going online to play soon for the first time but reading on here it looks very buggy.

        • IronSalamander8

Yeah. At least that’s the biggest complaints I’ve seen so far.

      • Emperor Ben

Positive posters? you mean the ordinary whales….Keith Keith we love you!! Good good things are going downhill as planned.

    • “Keith”

Please Keith and Eric we implore you to address the Conquest Changes in 5.8 Please
      http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=946226

Geez these kids are really desperate to lick my * sigh…. i may thinkg about it and when its fixed i’m gonna tell them its their “new content” and everybody happy. I’m so smart.

      • Mosco

        Good idea Boss!!

      • LadyTremor

This is complete bs, your lack of response is pure disrespect to each
and every player in this game. The changes you made to the Conquest
system disrupted game play, have made the game a lot less fun for so
many of us. Are you trying to push us all away hinting that the game is
coming to an end and the less people you have to give the devastating
news to in the end the better?

Prior to 5.8 you provided guilds with different opportunities on
different weeks, it was fun, challenging, there were great objectives,
guilds would run internal contests, recruitment was always up. In the
matter of a day you killed it all.

Are you two and the rest of the development team really so stupid as to
have thought it would be a good idea to make drastic changes like this
without consulting with those who pay your salaries, the subs of this
        game.

Keith, when you first came there was such excitement in the air, no more
Ben, a Producer who really cared about the game, but, now are we seeing
        your true colors.

Eric, as for you, been with the project for a long time, think it is time for you to move on, you are simply useless now.

        • Mosco

wtf??? but i’m the king of the hill how you dare kid, pressing the ban button in 3,2,1…

        • Kubrickian

If they nerfed GSF XP then the game has lost that little group of die hards which really isn’t saying much because it was always a niche within a niche collective of X-Wing for the PC fans.

          • AbnerDoon

It’s not the xp it’s the conquest points. At base no SH bonus it’s repeatable once a day for 90 pts. With SH bonus it is 213 pts.

That will chase away most of the casuals. Even if it’s not a GSF week 90 pts out of 20k is just ridiculous. Even if you just do it once a day for a week it’s 630 to 1,491 pts altogether.

That’s not forgetting it’s only for wins now so you have to hope one side isn’t just stacked.

Conquest has been completely reworked. Those with the drive, and skill
to master the new system will be rewarded. Those who cling to the past
      will not.

Please tell me, what skill is this? Infinite time? Having no life? Send some of the stuff here.

You should know by now that only ones that matters are the CM boys . Those are financing Anthem the rest nobody cares.,,

          • Guest

That’s correct it doesnt matter if you pve, pvp, solo boi or conquest one, CM clientes are the only one that matters.

        • snakedoctor

The change to crafting objectives was in response to large guilds pre-loading 20+ alts per member and blowing up a 10 million point lead as soon as the new week started.

          • Rogue_Kitsune

I figured that was the point of making the conquest events randomly instead of following a set schedule (the guild I’m in, when they knew a crafting week was coming up, they’d be telling people to stockpile mats a week before), and as such I have no issues with that bit, but I don’t see what good any of the other changes do. Ops are still a major source of Conquest points, if you have a guild large enough to manage it, but crafting is something anyone can do on their own… But if crafting objectives are worth less, and with how many more materials are now required to craft conquest items, that just makes crafting more of a nuisance for everyone – which means smaller guilds will suffer -more- from these changes than bigger guilds will.

The loss of your sub, or the subs of the ( really not that many
actually. A couple of dozen so far, and there’s more turnover each
month than that ) who are unhappy and have posted, are irrelevant. CM
sales are producing more cash than subs at this time. And heavy CM
buyers are unlikely to be bothered by a few changes to Conquest.

Thanks for the 5.8 update. Thanks for the new boss.

      See y’all for 5.9.

    • Paulo Gomes

May I address the elephant in the room?

Seems to me BW are making every effort possible to make non-sub playing as difficult as it can be, nay impossible.

What do you guys think? Is this a recommended attitude? Does the game need those f2p and Pref players or not?

      • gua543

It wasn’t easy to begin with. WARNING: Rant ahead.
I started playing the game as part of the trial program, when you could reach level 15 max. The limitations put on f2p players back then were (and still are, as a matter of fact) absurd. Basically all QoL stuff is locked – unify colors, hide headslot, not being able to show your damn titles or having more than 2 quickslots. Even expanding your inventory with credits wasn’t allowed, only CC.

Then we get to the gameplay restrictions, which are handled slightly better, but are still draconian. 3 space missions per week, 5 warzones per week, no access to raids (you also had the weird restriction about being able to roll on the loot of the final fp boss only 3 times per week, but I don’t think it worked properly since I used to do a shitton of flashpoints back in the day and only encountered it once). Now, I don’t have a problem with the allowed amount, I have a problem with the time frame. Change it to daily restrictions and allow f2p to raid once a week and it will be much better IMO. Fun fact – there were talks about the f2p warzone weekly limit being looked at, but I guess it didn’t go further than that.
Sidenote: I was utterly amazed when they removed warzones and raid passes. Can’t even comment on that.

The most severe of the restrictions, however, is not having access to artifact equipment. At all. You just got a level 30 purple earpiece drop from the world boss that’s perfect for you? Sike, you can’t use it. That was when gear actually mattered during leveling, and you had to gear your companions too. I could understand not having access to top-tier endgame gear, but come on. The best gear a f2p player could have was level 50 prototype items and mods.

Then there are the restrictions that were just plain ridiculous – literally every reward you could choose from some quests was locked. Having only 5 slots on the GTN. Not having access to your very own ship cargo hold. Being able to send only 3 companions on crafting missions and not being able to stack craftable items. You want to make some implants for your companions? Well, you can’t just send 2 of your companions to make 5 each. You can only send one companion to craft one implant. Having a credit limit of 200k for f2p and 350k for pref status. You could hardly buy anything worthwhile for less than a million credits back in the day. These days the in-game economy is so fucked that it’s simply laughable how the credit limits haven’t changed at all. Oh, and let’s not forget not being able to post on the forums or contact customer support. You got a bug to report? Sorry mate, you don’t pay, we don’t give a shit what you gotta say.

I think the only proper f2p restriction I can think of is getting less xp, less rewards from warzones/starfighter matches and having to pay slightly more when buying stuff from vendors. Being allowed only 2 active character slots for pure f2p and 4 (I think) for pref status was also just. And, you know, not getting a monthly stipend of cartel coins.

/rantover Now, on to your question. When this game went F2P, it gained a massive influx of players. The day it went live was the first, and I believe maybe the only, time when I had to wait in queue to join the server. It was the first time I saw more than 1 instance on the fleet. Hell, there were 2 instances on the starter worlds. Before that it was a graveyard. So I firmly believe going F2P saved TOR. From what I have observed over the years, Bioware have done nothing but ignore and alienate the f2p/pref status players. The final nail in the coffin for me was their decision with releasing KotFE chapter once per month. I have only subbed once since then, to gain access to all of the chapters.

What I’m trying to say is TOR didn’t succeed as a sub-only MMO. And, like it or not, many of the players that fill the warzone and flashpoint queues are F2P or pref status. Quite frankly, I don’t see Bioware pleasing any particular crowd, besides maybe the guys that make shitty fanfic romances on the forums.

        • Paulo Gomes

A good rant like yours deserves another good one. Well, I hope it’s good…

I’m just failing to see the logic behind these moves. And while I could come here and dish on the game, like so many times before, now I just want to understand.

I was a constant sub from launch until December 2015/January 2016. Why that date specifically? It was the date BW first failed to oblige to a promise, statement of intentions or whatever you would call it: to not go a full year without an Op. After that, I did do a few subs, if and when the content was to my liking.

But my playing took a definite turn. I looked at my gaming from the eyes of a Pref. I no longer had the freedom to do anything I wanted. Had to rely on some (few) friends I had left to buy stuff for me from the GTN, for instance. But it was ok. I was still in a few raiding guilds, I had lots of Ops passes. And the guilds themselves always had some lying around. No big deal. Until they did away with those too…

By that turn of events, and the content getting meagre all the time, I started to look into ways I could enjoy the game. Things I had never done. Strongholds was one of them.

Now, I never really cared about Conquest. And to be frank I never cared about Strongholds either. I had 3 SH: Coruscant, DK and NS. The first two I bought with 5 credits or something like that. NS came with my account, I didn’t even buy that one. In recent times I played the game enough to get the train SH. I forget the name… Umbara, right? But that one is not unlocked. And now it will forever be so…

The other ones were fully unlocked. And I went full on on them. I built my own Jedi council on Coruscant. Did the same in DK, for the Dark Side. NS was my “center of operations”, with an hospital and equipment to coordinate my toons’ efforts across the galaxy… Remember the companions’ classes before 4.0? I had a healers room, a tanks room, a dps’ room. Well, at least as many as the game allowed me to put in there. But that’s ANOTHER rant…

To come to my point: I don’t understand what they are doing. Why penalise Prefs even further? Not that I personally care, I don’t play anymore. And I doubt I ever will.

But the game NEEDS these players. And if some people use the “you don’t pay, you don’t play” argument, which is from a first point of view valid, the answer is a little more complicated than that.

So: if I DO pay… What do I get in return? Where’s the content? Don’t just push people into paying. Make it worth their money.

And I’m sorry, but it’s just not worth my money atm.

So maybe it’s time to look at that business model. Make it less draconian. A business model that won a poll in 2016, if I’m not mistaken, of the worst MMO business model in existence…

          • Eban

            Good conversation.

Also you hear a lot the ”SWTOR makes it money from cartel market and not the sub money”
So why not just go full f2p and do what ESO do and make subscribing (or Premium as they call it) something you do to gain monthly cartel coins and unlimited storage etc, shit like that.
I just can’t get my head around the fact they still think it’s okay to expect a subscription fee for a game thats not delivering.
Even if the sub was $2 I still wouldn’t pay.
They don’t deserve it out of sheer principle.

            • Darth Twinge

ESO also locks the non subs out of the latest expansions unless they do a prefered type of thing and buy the expansion for $30 or something like that. Which I think is totally fair.
Swtor locks out the f2p from ops, warzones, and fp – but think how much shorter the ques of groupfinder would be if they werent…. of course that would also mean they need to be allowed competitive gear….

The problem is that the SWTOR model isnt “hey theres even more great stuff if you sub” it’s “hey want the gameplay not to suck? then sub!”

I only unsubbed a few months around the time Hutt Cartel came out due to temporary unemployment because I like to support the games I play the most and get maximum enjoyment. I tend to buy 6 months at a time. So my next renewal is in may and quite frankly, unless they come up with something to make it worth it by then, Im going to stop it. Ive been waiting awhile. I mean if they only updates are going to be Cartel market and a few 2 minute cutscenes every 2 months or so. they need to at least give a lot more CC in the sub benefit. Because the rest of the time, Ive done everything a thousand times over.

            • Paulo Gomes

I just can’t get my head around the stuff they do. Honestly, it’s like they are living in “fantasy MMO land”. Either that or the game is doing a lot better than what I think it is. Which I seriously doubt, but it is possible…

              • Darth Twinge

weird. Its not like I see RPers everywhere. Do they just think its an expensive chat room? lol

                • Naq

I roleplayed pretty steadily throughout my time playing, and it adds a whole world of extra content to the game. It is probably what kept me going as long as I did. But I started roleplaying with a huge group, and it steadily lost players as the production value of the game choked and withered to nothing, so RP is no substitute for game content, only a compliment to it. I think these players Paulo is seeing, are people who haven’t finished the 8 base stories yet, or at least the 2 base stories for the factions, so its all new and fascinating and they probably have no idea what we are all complaining about, because the end of the game is miles off to them, so they spend their money, maybe piles of it, not seeing the wall they are speeding towards.
I’d always regarded the CM with distrust, but when I got that 5 year sub reward, and realized all I had to show for being subscribed since launch was a big orange tombstone, I realized any dollar I spent on the CM was a dollar lost on something that may not even be there in 6 months. I think we’ve all had that feeling before dropping sub, where you just lose confidence in the game’s future, and spending your money on something that has no future feels like throwing it away.

                • Darth Twinge

I totally agree that RP and friendships can completely improve the experience in these types of games. I used to RP in WOW and SWG, but for whatever reason, in SWTOR, I just met all the wrong people and even a couple of guilds that were quite terrible at RP by comparison. So I eventually gave up on that aspect for the most part.
Now, the whole Anthem thing, reinforced by the lack of new content has given me that “loss of confidence” for sure. Its pretty hard to justify buying anything in the CM or even playing for Conquest if they cant show any good faith effort in the games future. Top that off with dabbling in a game like ESO and you see that even though the IP is probably not as strong as something like StarWars, there is so much love put into it, that it kind of sucks you in.
The whole thing is just really sad.

                • Naq

I was in gold coast, just riding out to the north west beaches to create some Pelinal’s armor, and I stopped to grab some mushrooms under a tree, and a badger walked over to the tree I was at, sniffed the bark, and then got up on its haunches and started to scrape at the tree like it was after a bird, and my brain was like “HOW DOES IT KNOW THERE IS A TREE HERE?! WHO HAS THE TIME TO WRITE BADGER AI?!?!” But ESO is a dense and immersive experience. The people making the game are lucky enough to work for a company where details matter, and I am so excited to be playing a game that gives a shit about badger AI.
There is so much more passion put into the game there is just no comparison.

                • Paulo Gomes

Gold Coast you say? Hummm… Armor… Yeah right. And maybe, just maybe doing some Dark Brotherhood contract on the side? Hail Sithis.

Good to hear from you Naq.

                • Paulo Gomes

I went to ESO a while back. But for whatever reason, I didn’t stick with it. Maybe I was just burned out on MMO’s altogether. Maybe I just was too used to TOR to really commit, I don’t know.

So I came back to TOR. I mean, the game was turning around a bit. The kind of content I like (Ops) was in their focus once again. So yeah, a year to deliver an Op. I thought: “screw it. I’ll give it a go”.

Wait for the Op to come out, do a sub. If the worst came to happen, just let that 2 month sub run out. And I’d be back playing Skyrim, because at that point I wasn’t really playing ESO. Skyrim with mods. I STILL have a lot of mods I haven’t done. I mean, I had TWICE the amount of drive space needed to run the “normal” game. You can imagine how many mods I had…

Then the news came out. Staff from BioWare, Austin were being diverted to work on “Anthem”. I thought: “wtf is this? A game in dire need of staff, and they send the few remaining survivors they have to work on ANOTHER game???”

And this was before the Kotaku article, mind you.

That was it. I cannot commit to a game that the mother company doesn’t. But at the time I wanted to play with other people. Skyrim would NOT do.

Went back to ESO. And could not be happier I did. What Naq talks about? It’s true. They don’t care only for the players. They care for THE GAME! “Devil’s in the details”, right?

That’s why I cannot accept when people call me a hater of this game. Me, a hater? No, far from it. I’m just one of those guys that cannot accept what this game has become.

                  [OP is Fred G]

I see they are offering ALL of the previous content and the new Somerset expansion for $80. I’m very tempted to dive in as I need a break from WoW until BfA comes out at the end of summer anyway.

                • Leah

to clarify. not all previous content. that bundle is missing several DLC’s in it – specifically shadows of hist (2 dungeons) horns of the reach (2 dungeons), Dragon bones (most recent 2 dungeons) and Clockwork City (extra story content + trial, aka operation or raid) that said, the cost of the bundle is exactly the same as if you bought summerset edition of the game right now that comes with bonus morrowind until june 12 and then bought crowns separately to buy first 4 DLC’s pack that they are calling gold edition, so there is that? (DLC’s are bought in game for crowns, or if you subscribe, full acess is included in that for as long as your subscription is active. buying DLC’s means they will be active whether you subscribe or not. personaly, I just stay subscribed, becasue I’m a hoarder and ton of extra inventory space that comes with subscription is something that I refuse to live without at this point :P)

that said, right now, there is a free trial week going on, so I would recommend trying the game first and seeing if you like it, before throwing $80 at it 🙂 as much as i love ESO – it is most certainly NOT the game for everyone any more than, say.. any other MMO really.

                • Fred Garvin

                  [OP is Fred G]

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification. I knew it also had the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, Imerial City, and…something else. Didn’t know about the others.

I love Elder Scrolls but have found it hard to get into ESO because of commitment to other MMOs. I put so much time into first SWTOR and now WoW that I can’t do that over two games simultaneously. ESO could be great while I take a break from WoW for several months though and give me a chance to really get into it. The farthest I’ve gone so far is only Level 9 which is nothing.

                • Leah

well, your character should still be there, if you wanted to continue 🙂 (the fourth DLC is Orcinium which some people still consider to be best storywise, for me it didn’t pick up until about 75% through, but i’m also that weirdo who didn’t like Jedi knight and loved Consular and trooper, so YMMV)

the good thing about ESO is that if you want to be casual in it – its pretty forgiving, and if you want to go hardcore… well it will demand a great deal of investment, time and effort. its pretty flexible that way, just like nowadays its also flexible as to how you level, where you quest etc (it scales you to max level, so like with single player ES games, you can basically just.. go anywhere)

          • Darth Twinge

ESO also locks the non subs out of the latest expansions unless they do a prefered type of thing and buy the expansion for $30 or something like that. Which I think is totally fair.

            • Paulo Gomes

I would be perfectly fine with paying for expansions. I always was. RotHC and SoR I bought. And it was well worth the money.

              • gua543

Ha, I completely forgot about not being able to use companion customizations. Shows how absolutely ludicrous this restriction is.

      • Leah

very good conversation here. IMO swtor cannot afford to push players away right now, and their f2p system does exactly that. I mean.. I have some issues with the way say secret world legends does it, becasue it also has a lot of shades of swtor’s “subscribe to remove a bunch of restrictions!” vibe, BUT. its 1. very playable without subscription in that it doesn’t lock players away from playing with subscribers through the same content. in other words – f2p players provide what they are meant to provide – people to play with. 2. subscription in addition to removing a bunch of restrictions (like much MUCH shorted cooldowns on repeatable quests for one) also gives you some decent perks to make it desirable without it being absolute must to be able to play the game.

swtor on the other hand has a model of.. subscribe or might as well leave once you are done with base stories. it actively discourages f2p players from being what they are supposed to be. people to play with. so no. its not a recommended attitude at ALL.

    • Hey Dulfy, I thought I would let you know the point values that you have for the conquest points are wrong. The points you posted included your sh bonus with it. I was able to check the difference on another server to see what the difference between my stronghold bonus vs. one that does not have a stronghold bonus. Operation: Terror from Beyond for example has a base value of 3000 points. Since I have 150% stronghold bonus, I get 7500 from that one. So they have actually did the math for it already without us having to figure it out.

So where do I donate the war supply? At the vendor?

      • Dr. Mike Wendell

A quick check of the previous comments would have shown you the answer but right clicking on them while in your inventory will give you the option to donate them.

    • Drivan

      This makes me sad…
SWTOR is doing polls and rehashing conquests while ESO has just announced another huge expansion.
SWTOR gave us 5 bosses of an Op 1 at a time over the last year, gave back a couple companions they took away and popped in a dailies area and a train/house. And on the horizon? Who knows, it’s all dependent on how development on Anthem goes…

ESO gave us 6 total dungeons, 2 full zones with full story quest lines a raid, a new character class, a new PvP mode, a new outfit creator and polished up some bugs that needed fixed. Yesterday the just announced another huge expansion with a new raid, new dungeons, a new skill line to explore and new group of electable items a new exploreable zone and some fixes to some outstanding issues. And it’s set for early access in May with a June 6th launch. ZOS and Bethesda are delivering! So many people were preordering the new ESO expansion right after the ESO live stream yesterday that their server crashed… TWICE!

I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but damn EA is really missing the boat here. They have a gold mine with that Star Wars Licence and if they really cared about making GREAT games SWTOR (or some other awesome Star Wars game) would THUMP ESO and WoW in the market.

Wish EA would get their heads out of their asses, or Disney would wake up and see the HUGE disparity between how EA is treating their IP and how other developers would treat it…

      • fubarz

EA and Disney share the same goal —> Destroying the SW franchise so no… nothing will happen.

      • Paulo Gomes

        That’s exactly the problem.

These people see Star Wars as a licence to print money. So they DON’T get their heads out of their asses to deliver, because they think ANYTHING with a Star Wars logo on it is going to be a success. Which it will… For some time.

The next few years will be very interesting for all of us interested in Star Wars. The IP has lost a lot of its credibility. A LOT.

Will it continue to do so? I hope not. But I think it will.

      • John Kosto

I don’t disagree with you about anything, but the whole “well look at what ESO does” has gotten really old….

        • Leah

agreed. I adore ESO, but even as someone who likes the game a LOT, posts of these nature are making me cringe. its a little too much like those times when parents point out some kid and go “why aren’t you more like that kid?” tends to result in the exact opposite reaction from desired one. I have a feeling that posts like these make people on the fence dislike ESO. on principle.

          • Errtai

Exactly. I am well aware of the problems of SWTOR as everyone else here and I’m not blind either; ESO looks brilliant. But all those ESO ESO ESO ESO posts here are slowly getting boring -and believe it or not- distasteful and antipathic.

If those people here want to do a favor to ESO, they should mention it less.

        • Drivan

I think that those of us that make that comparison do so because we see what SWTOR could have been in ESO.
They both fell on hard times early on, they both struggled to make a come back and they both come from very strong fan favorite IP’s. Star Wars, arguably, has the larger and more devoted fan base.

For me I feel like EA/BW squandered SWTOR’s comeback when they let a bug infested Shadows of Revan expansion fester for a month and a half then their reaction to the Ravagers exploit was even more damaging. The game spiraled ever downward away from its roots and people left in droves. Now they spend all their time on the cartel market because BW realizes their hopes are better pinned to the shot in the dark they are taking with Anthem then trying to revive SWTOR.

ESO on the other hand has handled their comeback quite well. Their releases aren’t as bug free as people would like, but I gotta say it is a billion % better than anything SWTOR has been handing out since before SoR. Tons more of literally EVERYTHING. If you wanna see what a successful comeback in the MMO world looks like ESO is it. Just 1 example when dungeons or trials get tired and old they don’t “refresh” them and bring them up to level, nope they make new ones that are more challenging.

I find myself drawing the comparison because I have invested a bunch of time (and money) into both games and I see how each game handled near failure. ESO bounced back, embraced the MMO aspects, gave players solo content & doubled down on their commitment to being a leading MMO. SWTOR invested their time and efforts into micro transactions which gave them a temporary boost in proffit. But blunder after blunder has negated those gains and then some.

I agree the comparison is getting tiresome, I wish BW/EA cared enough to try to make them go away.

I never understood the whole SOR drama. Seriously, I think that anyone complaining about that too much or going to lengths of leaving the game because of that bug, was completely overreacting. I remember doing all of Rishi, then all of Yavin, including the Flashpoints, and at the same time doing progression on Ravagers and Temple Of Sacrifice with my group, which when released was actually not exactly a cakewalk, with that pretty tight DPS check on the Underlurker even on Story Mode.

So I was patient and waited for a few weeks to finish the Revan fight and the storyline. So what? Nothing bad happened. I finished it when they fixed it (it wasn’t a month and a half by the way) and then it was all good.

I think the downfall started afterwards, with KOTFE. Even in the few months between SOR and the summer we had a few nice things happening in game, with Ziost etc. But after May 2015…. forget about it!

            • Leah

I have to agree, up until KOTFE we were still doing pretty good, I mean. it was touch and go in terms of story, but content WAS being released. and then we got KOTFE… and it just kept going steeply downhill from then on.

Well, it made Early Access a joke back then. Even the Revan solo fight was bugged. That’s where all the “Early Access” jokes started.

In reality it was just poor planning on BW’s part (where have I heard this before…)
Releasing a major update just days before going on a long break is bad planning. Assuming something goes wrong (like it did) you leave an unattended mess for the players to play through.

But I’m with you on this, I really am.

Boy, how I wish we could be having the exact same problems now. It would mean we had a PROPER expansion to complain about…

        • Naq

I’m really sorry John if I am contributing to this. It could be worse though, we could be comparing it to Everquest, a 19 year old collection of polygons in the shape of a fantasy world that is still releasing content faster and in higher volume than Swtor. I think ESO is the one that comes up because it is where the majority of us have just happened to land. I’d trade ESO for an equally detailed and activity filled star wars game without an issue, I bet we all would though.

          • John Kosto

I mean… I don’t personally mind, it just seems very irrelevant when these discussions have happened so many times before. We all know ESO is better at releasing content. There are probably dozens of MMO’s right now releasing more content than SWTOR, it’s not exactly news, and hasn’t been for years…

            • Guest

Are there even “dozens” of MMOs left?
              Seems like a stretch.

    • AbnerDoon

Don’t worry they just promised to fix some of it with 5.9 in May……………….

    • TheCulprit

so, SWTOR was my first and only MMO. It took a while to learn the jargon and culture. I was so green I thought Tank had to be the easiest role in the raid; then I rolled one, geez.

I feel like an addict, coming here to check if the game is ever coming back.

I guess, what I’m asking, since I’m going thru my first “end of the MMO,” is there like, a support group or something? Some funeral for my main at least? and some fav Alts? I got these feelz I’m not sure how to handle. Or is the Dufly Comments as close as I’m going to get? Are all my toons gonna die? and all the loot and crafting mats I diligently gathered for 5 years and meticulously stacked my Legacy storage with – are they going to die too?

      • Risqu’e

Its not really “the end” yet. I wouldnt worry about those details until someone made an official announcement lol
That is the trouble with online games though. Eventually the game becomes obsolete, unsupported or your account expires from inactivity and yes… they all die and go to MMO Hell.

      • Drivan

Best thing to do, start selling off all the stuff you really can do with out, keep your account, log in once in a while and check in on things.
Find a new game and reuse the names of your toons in similar roles.
Example, My name here is also my Main toon name in SWTOR, ESO, NWO and Blade and Soul. These toons are my main and my favorite in their perspective games. I have a healer that has the same name across 2 games, A melee DPS that has the same name across 3 games etc. Your toons never die, just morph into different versions of themselves.

      • Tom

My suggestion is if you want the game to stick around is play often. The Devs, and corporate suits will keep games around longer if they are full of players. I play daily. I recruit players. We can convince them as long as there is enough interest, but they need to see numbers on the servers.
