Hey folks,

Right now I don’t believe there are any plans for a formal roadmap in the coming weeks. To calm any concerns, that isn’t because there isn’t stuff happening this year, but we have been making an effort to give you more visibility into content sooner via PTS. With that in mind, here are some details:

  • 5.10.1 is on PTS now, which you already know. That will come out in the next couple of weeks, more details on timing this week.
  • After 5.10.1 is out the door, look for details on 5.10.2 going to PTS.
  • We are still locking down details so I can’t announce anything just yet, but we fully intend to be at SW Celebration this year. Which seems like a great place to reveal more details on what is coming this year.

Thanks all.

Stop making this like pulling teeth, its exhausting.

No apology necessary, not trying to be frustrating but I realize that my response was definitely missing some details. I apologize for the lack of communication there, let me try to add some clarity on the Companion stuff (plus set bonuses you asked about in a later post).

What makes a lot of the Companions and Contacts information complicated is that there are so many different circumstances a player can be in currently. Some of the issues were resolved so they wouldn’t happen after 5.10a, but the people who were in those weird states weren’t resolved retroactively. Other issues still need to be fixed, plus ensuring we retroactively address anyone who was in that state.

I know this is where some of the frustration is coming from since I have not communicated all of these details on what is being fixed, or not, and when. I still don’t have that information for you today, but that is because some of these fixes are very complex and they are still actively being tested so I can’t definitively speak on whether they are fixed or not yet.

What I can tell you is that I am quite literally working on 5.10.1 patch notes right now and this includes making sure to capture these changes (ex: just captured a note for the companion and contact list properly listing whether Acina / Malcolm is alive or dead after being mixed up in 5.10 for some players). I will do what I can to ensure that the notes capture as many of these situations as possible so I can communicate to all of you what is being fixed. This will also help after 5.10.1 is out the door so we can ensure we catch anything we miss. I will try to get this list captured and posted before the week is out.

As for set bonuses not stacking, that is planned to be fixed in 5.10.1.

Now that we are close to 5.10.1 going out the door I will work on communicating out more about the fixes you can expect (or not expect) to see with release.

Thanks!

  • marr.vikingr

Very nice way of saying they don’t know how much longer the game is going to be active.

    • Bakgrind

The tone of the points is rather short and matter of fact. It would appear that Eric didn’t use his usual salesmanship type banter.

      • marr.vikingr

for sure it sound bleak at best

    • Phillip Chappell

usually i would disagree but i think this time. unless their hiding big. dont see the harm in a roadmap. when is the SW Celeberation?

  • Phillip Chappell

funny i think that from the thread i started.

  • MKDAWUSS

Apparently, they’re just gonna’ wander and make stuff up as they go along.

  • Errtai

According to starwars.com, this game doesn’t exist. Not a word. Not a single mention. Not in the list of Starwars games, neither new or old. Just go and check for yourself, takes a minute or two.

    • Marián Mojžiš

It is because EA does not care at all about marketing of SWTOR. Star wars is on the greatest hype from time it was during Ep.III released years ago nor WoW has a hype like Star Wars. It would be so fucking easy to promote MMO as SWTOR these days to get a looot of new players to boost playerbase, but EA does not care, they push forward Battlefront 2, but no mention of swtor on E3, nowhere,..no commecials, nothing,. Incomprehensible, but reality..:/

      • Fred Garvin

My favorite missed opportunity of SWTOR promotion was when there was a preview trailer for WoW: Legion before The Force Awakens…lmao. Or how they have zero floor presence at SWC. Pathetic.

        • Shawn Hargrave

how about when they sent the french guy who no one could understand to showcase a moveable ui a standard feature in every mmo…

    • not_yet
    • Barloc

It doesn’t have Battlefront 2 (2005) or KOTOR/KOTOR II with their own sections either. Nor does it have the original Lego Star Wars games. This is such a pointless criticism.

  • Fubarz

This is the announcement in Jan or Feb they promised!!!! April 11-15 they will show a road map of what will happen in late spring/ summer for patch 6.0 (maybe) Then we can get it some time this fall in time for episode 9 coming out With all the new CM stuff that will look similar to what is in the movie….Yea!!

  • Darth Twinge

I’m not sure why making use of the PTS means they can’t make a roadmap, but ok…
Maybe having the PTS active causes a conflict with powerpoint XD

    • AbnerDoon

With just PTS and sporadic announcements they don’t have to commit to anything.

It’s not like they’ve been teasing 6.0 for over two years….

  • pig benis

ayy more like: let’s see how Anthem does in the next months, then we can talk about swtor’s life support

  • BlatantlyIgnorantMusco

A roadmap of the release of the 2019 roadmap shall be posted shortly on swortanic.com, ignore the iceberg ahead please.

  • an

Yes there will be a lot to talk about at SW Celebration – like how to destroy the Star Wars franchise completely!

  • Jonathan Parker

Okay, so this is nothing. “We’ll have details later” seems to be the motto for this game now. For god’s sake, do THEY even have a plan at this point? With so much of Bioware working on that train wreck, Anthem, I can’t imagine this dwindling MMO is a high priority.

  • Wyrmidon

Calm down, people, they are just waiting for Anthem to be released. Once that’s out and reviews are in, the decisions will be made about SWTOR’s and BioWare’s future in general. Rumor has it that if Anthem tanks, BioWare goes bye-bye and, probably, SWTOR with it.

    • Phillip Chappell

i doubt that rumor even though even me:a and da:i were poor games gameplay wise. they were finical successes. and bioware is the last company ea has left that was profitable sides their sports which now are screwed too. at worst i see the ceo getting the boot.

      • Ben Gimson

Making profit =/= success in big business. They need to hit their target projections for it to be considered a success.

        • Phillip Chappell

true and wasnt trying didnt have to hit it goals. but i was stating ea is in trouble bf2 bf5 have utterly failed. fifa 19 just got screwed by belgium..not saying belgium’s wrong. in fact i agree with them so bioware can still make desent money. as much as ea wants to i dont think can stay afloat with bioware. well atleast as ea we know and llove/hate.

      • Wyrmidon

Profitable doesn’t always mean successful in corporate reality. A game can earn millions but if it doesn’t earn as much as was expected, it will still be considered a failure because the earnings didn’t meet the quota. BioWare’s releases in the past few years weren’t exactly BIG hits and Andromeda was so much of a flop that EA shut the wholeproject down, even though it did bring them a nice income in the end. So… yeah. Best keep our fingers crossed for SWTOR, just in case.

    • HadesClutch

It’s seemingly more and more likely that it wont tank per se. Unlike 76, Anthem has a story to it and its interactive. Plus the mechanics is getting high praise by people who got into the beta and demos. Warframe kind of needs that competition since Destiny 2 has failed as bad as it did.

      • Wyrmidon

Let’s just hope they don’t ruin that with aggressive microtransactions… I think there’s a reason why there was no trace of them in the demo and why they keep the in-game store under a lid until launch. Ah well, we’ll see.

      • Barloc

Eh, Destiny 2 is doing pretty well right now. In fact, since Forsaken it’s arguably at the best it’s ever been. Really hoping you’re right about Anthem though. My problems with BW and EA aside, I definitely don’t want either it or SWTOR to go under.

        • Kubrickian

The Forge Weapons and new Exotics are off the charts amazing. Anthem’s Avatar meets Matrix in different Ironman 3 suits doesn’t even approach D2.

          • Barloc

I haven’t played Black Armoury yet as I can’t be asked to spend more money for a pointless expansion, but I’m starting Forsaken next and I can’t wait. Everything I’ve seen and heard about it tells me it’s amazing.

          • Shawn Hargrave

anthem the poors man destiny in iron man suits

      • bob

Well the issue is what are EAs expectations.

I’m sure Anthem will do well but if EA has unrealistic exoectaexpec like it did with DeadSpace3 then Swtor is dead.

    • Kubrickian

For a second I thought you were going to say funeral instead of future.

  • Vergansito

  • Vergansito

  • Havik79

They will put the game into maintenance mode for at least a year, probably more before they shut down the game.

  • Tom

SWTOR roadmap: Sack the guy who said that 2019 would be the most exiting year ever for the game.

  • Barloc

“To calm any concerns, that isn’t because there isn’t stuff happening this year, but we have been making an effort to give you more visibility into content sooner via PTS.”

Sounds like he’s saying that they do have a plan, but they’re waiting to see how Anthem does to see whether they’ll have the staff numbers and resources/funding left to pull most of it off. That’s…good I guess?

    • Duonboon

Depends, if EA lays off ‘veterans’ or long term devs who worked with SWTOR for quite longer than others, it sucks, however if they do replace Keith or Eric or whatever is in charge for the better (although we know EA will forcefully pursue to monetize any content) then content could wind up getting better overtime (firing devs doesn’t necessarily mean better staff efficiency for the better or worse).

  • Matthew Langley

No roadmap means no concrete plans.

  • Shawn Hargrave

lol get ready for more exciting cartel shop items! smh

  • Monmoth

SW Celebration is on May right ???
Do you know that you will lose all your players by then?…

  • Revan Exiled

Seems at this rate, we’ll be waiting till end of the god dam year before we even get that 6.0 expansion pack they talked about several months ago. As if it hasn’t been like 2 years since the last expansion came…

  • gutterman g

    “maintenance mode engaged”

  • KajunRajun

So the roadmap announcement is there isn’t a roadmap? Brilliant.

  • Naq

More bad news for anyone hoping for something new, and not shitty. Sorry folks. https://variety.com/2019/gaming/news/disney-video-game-star-wars-ea-1203129606/

    • gua543

God damn, these people are so out of touch with reality. This part is 110% on point:

“Iger seemed either unaware of some of the drama surrounding EA’s recent
handling of the Star Wars brand or unconcerned when an analyst asked him
for his thoughts on where video games fit into Disney’s business moving
      forward.”

Does that Bob Iger guy even know about the shitstorm that was formed around BF2’s loot boxes? I’m at a loss for words, it’s like these guys don’t care about their customers at all. They are literally burying the Star Wars franchise underground. 10$ that this new “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” game will be for mobile.

And to think they cancelled 1313 for all of this shit…

    • Matthew Langley

I don’t know that oddly seems like good news for any distant hopes for SWTOR. One of the worries was that Disney would pull the Star Wars IP out of EA and SWTOR would shut down completely out of control of EA. This makes that seem less likely.

    • AbnerDoon

Well here’s to hoping the announcement of an announcement about content they’ve been teasing for 2 years is on the board for the end of this year. But most likely just more smoke and mirrors.

I won’t be surprised if it gets close to the celebration and they suddenly have better things to do. When was the last time anyone saw or heard from Keith? Is he still working there I wonder?

    • Guest

“We’re good at making movies and television shows and theme parks and
cruise ships and the like, we’ve just never managed to demonstrate much
skill on the publishing side of games,”

Ehhhh, I might give them the theme park one. Thats about it though.

  • lolipop

(Found it on swtor forum, “quote”)

It seems our devs are busy working on other things right now so to help them out i post this here, i hope i don’t reveal anything too soon! Roadmap 2019 here we go!

    – Hive of the mountain queen coming out soon!

    – We know we said we wouldn’t..but we will release Gods from the machine even in harder mode!
Try your skills on the new Ultra Ridiculous Nightmare Ballcrush -mode. Not because of Keith asked (we haven’t even seen him since office christmas party!) and definately not because Matt is the only one working in swtor nowadays! Coming on April or later. Probably later.

-At summertime the amazing thing everyone has been waiting for, making this the most exiting year for SWTOR ever! Downloadable for your mobile phone, new app “Major Anri’s gardening adventure” you can grow flowers with Major Anri. Fertilizers, extra skins for watering cans and bug repellents sold separately.

-At autumn we will release long asked feature and add repeatable alliance alerts to kill all companions! Get them one by one or combine alerts to one big massacre! They will never see it coming before it’s too late! “Commander, i called you here beca…”(((WHACK!!!))) (disclaimer: doing the alert will kill these companions for everyone not just for player)

-To balance this we will add new repeatable alliance alerts to resurrect companions killed by other players. Doing these alerts will return them to all players not just for you. Untill someone does the kill alert again, be ready!

-New cartel market items coming up all trough the year! Just to sample few, Major Anri’s watering can mini pet, Major Anri’s gardeners outfit, Tau Idair’s outfit (warning, this will hang badly on bodytype 1), Gnost-Dural coloring book (dyes sold separately), Darth Malgus’s box mount… plus other amazing items you can’t even imagine yet!

-During the year we will also add many new romance options, just to mention few: that hot stims vendor at Coruscant, shipdroid, Nem’ro…
