SWTOR Guild Heraldry and Preview Window Preview

SWTOR Guild Heraldry and new Preview Window preview. These features will be available with Patch 5.10.2 coming in April 2019.

Guild Heraldry

Quick video preview

The new Guild Heraldry feature can be accessed under guild details (default hotkey G).

swtor-guild-heraldry-guideswtor-guild-heraldry-guide-2

There are two fields you can edit, the symbol and details. Each field have a selection of predesigned art you can use along with two dye slots.

It is pretty straightforward system. It give you a limited set of options for heraldry which can be be displayed along with your guild profile when other players inspect your guild.

New Preview Window

Quick video preview

The new preview window is much more robust and can preview items like mounts properly with player character seated instead of standing to the side. There is also a new animation button you can use to display item effects. Regen/toys etc can now finally be previewed as well.

  • Crudius

    Too late :/

  • cx

Can the new preview window also show dye colors correctly? Especially when you use have different dies on different armor parts? Right now it doesn’t.

  • Taraq

Yeah, i would prefer more endcontent.

    • ke

What for, game is populated by SM spammers and RPers so Muscolini and the crew cater only to them. One raid in four years and they failed to deliver even that.

      • Fubarz

This game still has some raiders that run top tier and more then casual pvper (low numbers but still play). But even WoW (not comparing games on producing content) with the elite (hard core) pvp/pvers get bored leave till the next content comes out then repeats the cycle.

  • Taraq

Putting developing time in this tiny little banner aside the guild inspect window makes me sad. A hundred+ guilds will be running around and some with the same banner, what a waste of time.

At least it should be possible to upload a own *.png to make it look unique, that would be a good development. Allthough i don’t think this will bring subs back.

The preview window allmost the same. Doesn’t really add some “wow” back in the game.

    • MoveOn

I can’t believe you spent your time bitching about a game you don’t even play.

You really should read about the completely redone preview window because you clearly do not understand all of the significant the changes to it.

If you want to spend your life complaining about shit you don’t understand then you do you. There are better things you can be accomplishing.

      • Barloc

Oh they do play it. They just think they’re edgy and cool for whining about it.

        • ke

But truth be told, as much as it is annoying when people complain about SWTOR, people who defend it can’t really come up with something else than “stewp eit, me loves dis game” and “you’re only bitching”. Both sides are pathetic af.

          • CT Delta

There’s a lot wrong with the game, and plenty of things that are ok. I get that development is shite with a small team but that’s kinda what EA does. They kill off companies ._.

It’s nice that the devs are still optimistic (at least towards us) about promising content for years to come, but I’m afraid I have severe doubts of it lasting into 2020. Not because of a lack of in-game content, but because episode 9. If that one fails as hard as every other installment of the sequel trilogy, I fear it’s game over for swtor as well

            • ke

Do I love SWTOR for vanilla story and general atmosphere? Yes, I do. Do I love SWTOR for having incompetent devs who were leading people astray from SoR to VOTMG release? Not at all. IMHO game is not worth subbing at all but it is must play for every SW fan.
As for me, I quit it when 5.9 came because I realized it will never be as populated and good as it was during Oricon launch and I don’t want to stick to my nostalgia. I only check Dulfy for some news but as far as I can see, devs do nothing meaningful. I do not regret playing SWTOR, but now I regret every penny I spent on it

      • Darkredwing

Yes, how dare someone have criticism about a game they either currently play or used to play.
The lack of big content updates for the past 3-4 years is a serious problem. Little QoL like this does little to bring players in or back at all. But hey if you’re happy with it, an op that took more than a year to be released and random systems that have worked for years suddenly breaking, all the power to ya.

      • Taraq

Who said i don’t play the game?

Well i read all about the preview window but tell me what’s so special about it. Character ON mounts and VFX?….

I would prefer playing some new content rather than “state” my opinion about the developing of the game but this isn’t happening if there’s no new content.

It’s ok the devs do some “quality of live” improvements but don’t you think there are some more serious bugs and flaws in the game than preview windows and banners?

Sure there are better things i can accomplish so are there things bioware can.

      • Moveout

Yes, this new preview is game saver! I will roll 5 new chars just for it!

  • Barloc

    Nice but…previewing a preview? Huh.

  • Ben Gimson

Preview window changes are nice, but the guild heraldry thing is an underwhelming waste of effort.

    • Max

@bengimson:disqus You are a bit wrong about heraldy. It’s not a waste, it is TOO LATE for that. It was needed when guild was a MUST or BUST

      • Ben Gimson

Even if it was a launch feature, it’s still a waste to my eyes. Other games do this sort of thing far better, in a way that allows you to properly customise.

  • IncuBB .

I’d prefer fix with clothes clipping.
    It’s annoying as f***k

  • I’m going to need Musco and the Devs to break this down “technically” for us again…

  • Fubarz

  • The Guild Heraldry design window is very customizable, color wise. The
“symbol” has two different colors and the “detail” (background) has two
different colors. And you can pick any color you wish to accommodate
those color slots. I give the coloring options a score of 5 stars out of
    5.

Now for the bad part, regarding the Heraldry design interface. Im going to be tough here, because this is where it counts.

You only get 23 symbols to choose from. That is a big huge no. Please
add about 80-200 more symbol before this launches in April. I myself, am
looking forward to a fist symbol facing upwards. Make that happen,
please. A nice big furry wampa fist, for example. Starfighter
enthusiasts in guilds for GSF would like at least a few dozen different
symbols to choose from. We need more lightsaber symbols, blaster
symbols, alien/monster faces (smiling and angry), sunsets, elemental
symbols … just a whole butt load of symbols.

15 details (background) is also a big huge no. We would require a good
80-200 more back grounds. I noticed there is only one tribal like
symbol. We need dozens of those, come on. Techy backgrounds, nature
backgrounds, simple shapes background, complex lines, simple lines, etc.

Its ok, if this update gets delayed to make this happen. Im fine with delays. We need our options, and we need to feel unique.

There is no character flair for the heraldry symbol, sadly. I think we
would all like that very much. I also didnt see any options for banners
for the guild stronghold. I checked the deco merchant and the prefab
droids. I didnt see anything about it. That seems weird to me, so
perhaps Im missing something here? Our guild strongholds and flagships
need these Heraldry banners. I believe we are all expecting that as a
given. Otherwise I do not understand what the purpose of this is all
    about.

It does appear on the Guild page and the Guild profile. Now we need it
to be on banners for the flagships and strongholds. And Character
    Flairs.

Over all the Guild Heraldry system, gets 2.4. stars out of 5 stars. The
lack of symbols, backgrounds to choose from and the fact that there are
no decos for it or character flairs, really hurts the whole idea of
having this system implemented. But I believe allot of this can be fixed
before April’s launch. And again, I dont mind if the release is
delayed. I know allot of people complained about this because they want
more content. I also want more content, but I do appreciate that these
MMO basics are being implemented. Im excited about it, and I want it to
    be done right.

The preview window is really cool. You can now preview emotes, which is
awesome. But you cant preview emotes from linked emotes on the chat
window. A few things like the “ancient Sith Lord’s warblade” does not
animate correctly in the preview window. Its not perfect, but it is
significantly better than what we currently have. You cant preview
character flairs though. I did enjoy previewing everything in
Collections. I am sure it will encourage many to buy stuff from the
cartel market and grind harder for credits to shop at the GTN.

Over all I give the new preview system a 4.6 out of 5 stars with a “Hiddenpalm MUTHAFUCKA SEAL of approval!

I am in LOVE with the new “executioner lightening tuning”. And the
Tempest Warden’s Armor set is perfect for imperial diehards. More of
that please. The Executioner armor set is a little too wacky for my
taste. The blue and gold color crystal is awful on regular lightsabers
but looks amazing on the more expensive lightsabers with the blade
    effect.

Based on what I saw, the Heralds of Victory update gets a 7.1 out of 10
stars. I am sure the score will go up, on April. Please do your best to
give us those 80-200 more symbols and details (backgrounds) with
    heraldry decos and character flairs.

The heraldry system sounds a lot like the dye system – good in theory, subpar in execution. I’m almost certain Bio will sell better-looking symbols and backgrounds through the CM.

      • That didn’t even occur to me. Let’s hope that’s not the case. I wanted to involve guildees in voting for our crest. Putting the better symbols in the Cartel Market, wont let us snapshot colored examples to let guildees vote for the best one. That was just be an extremely cruel business move on behalf of EA, that wont make them money.

I dont think it will be done like that though. If they did, it would be better to give over 80 choices to pick from and then add animation options to them, that you can get from the CM like a glow or sparkle, etc.

  • MCThr33pio

So the preview windows will finally be ‘useful’, and hot damn but there isn’t a bunch of other worthless crap to distract you from all the actual shit we couldn’t possibly be bothered to fix!!

At this point a simple “fuck’s sake” just feels like wasted effort…

  • John Kosto

Also, under the definition of the word Underwhelming in every lexicon.

  • Birb

I wonder if they also fix decorations that show nothing in the preview window, and armor pieces that have no texture or are otherwise totally broken…
…guess not, cause they are BioWare.
“This is a complicated task… blah”. Yeah what isn’t? Do ya job.

  • disqus_8fGMCuJwj0

Ehh. Still can’t preview blaster noises!
